Want to get
Borderlands a little early
and stay up a little late? In addition to the
North Texas midnight launches that Gearbox staffers will be attending, the company has announced midnight launches at around 1,300 different GameStop locations. We guess 2K
does have more pull than we thought! You can browse the list right
here and see if your closest store is on the list. If it isn't ... think of it as a chance to get acquainted with some new GameStop employees.
Basically, you now have only one excuse for not getting
Borderlands tonight if you're into the game and you're in the US, and that is not wanting to go to GameStop and stand in line at midnight. Which is actually pretty reasonable.

I happen to live in Dallas, and although Borderlands looks promising and certainly worth purchasing at some point... I'm tired and I'm watching football. Kinda don't have the spare cash to pick this game up anyways, it's something I'll put on the backburner, perhaps.

Please tell Jaws to stop calling Marshall THE BEEEAST!!! It's like Jaworski is jacked and all loopy and happy on percocets or something.

Just picked up my copy 16 minutes ago! WOOT!

I cannot wait to play Borderlands. By the way, where is the podcast?
Magic Whiskey @ Oct 19th 2009 11:42PM
Richard was dilligently editing the videos about the NXE Twitter/Facebook/Last.FM stuff today, so the Fancast went on the backburner.
BUT...
My refreshed Fancast artwork is live!
(P.S...I've got a tasty copy of Borderlands cooking for me at GameStop right now. I'm gonna pick it up around 6 tomorrow night. Excited!!)

Nice work Whiskey.

Richard who?

I'm hoping it turns out good, I started getting pretty concerned about whether I'd like this after I started seeing gameplay video. Death and exploding animations look awful and cheesy, personal opinion. Seems to ooze character and a unique look so I'm wishing for the best.
Haven't been to a midnight opening since GoW2 after I'd moved and hadn't found a job yet. Those are, special, um, experiences...
Markez (attempting to call me less of a man because i knew so much about pans) @ Oct 19th 2009 11:07PM
Gah, I should pay more attention; http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/borderlands?q=borderlands Appears it turned out pretty damn good :)
Premature ejaculation man @ Oct 19th 2009 11:21PM
I would ope that they do a free steam weekend. I would jump on that opportunity because its about me convincing other people to buy it (I don't want to get it if my friends aren't)
MystileArmor @ Oct 19th 2009 11:24PM
Yeah, I have the same feelings about it. It seems to me this is one of those "Mercenaries 2"-like games.
Ok when you play it by yourself, nothing special, but with a buddy it becomes tons of fun.
Bane @ Oct 19th 2009 11:05PM
I'm sitting in my car outside Ganestop right now. Another 55 minutes and I'm ready to explore Pandora.
Bane @ Oct 19th 2009 11:07PM
Gamestop*
Damn phone keypad....
Special Agent Steve @ Oct 19th 2009 11:08PM
www.pandora.com
There, found it for you.
Sly @ Oct 19th 2009 11:45PM
how did your phone make gamestop into pandora?
Special Agent Steve @ Oct 20th 2009 6:20PM
"explore pandora".
It was a weak joke... carry on.
LegendaryRedass @ Oct 19th 2009 11:08PM
I'm on it. I'll be gettin me some Demon Souls too. The latter somehow got past my radar. I've been hearing about it lately, checked it out, it seems like a great game. Love coop where you don't have to talk to anybody.
At least 3 walmarts were selling Borderlands today, but they were sold out by the time I'd heard.
LegendaryRedass @ Oct 20th 2009 12:33AM
Scratch that. My gamestop flaked out. I guess best buy gets that sale.
Special Agent Steve @ Oct 19th 2009 11:09PM
There's not a single one where I live.... in a city w/ a population of over 1 million. Whoopie.
Markez (attempting to call me less of a man because i knew so much about pans) @ Oct 19th 2009 11:18PM
You counting the suburbs in there? Looks like all the big cities I'd think of as around a mill are in there...
Sly @ Oct 19th 2009 11:47PM
none of my local gamestops are having it, which is really strange considering i have around 5 gamestops within a 2 mile radius of my house. all the gamestops doing it in my city (bham, AL) are either in the ghetto or way far away from my house.
Warlord @ Oct 19th 2009 11:12PM
Ooh, ooh, I have ANOTHER reason why those interested in the game in the US are not outside a gamestop right now! The fact that the PC version was delayed 6 days, and is thus not AVAILABLE tonight.
No PC love... :(
Einhanderkiller @ Oct 19th 2009 11:32PM
The PC version is nearly half the price (in 4 pack) of the console versions on Steam so that should make up for the delay. :)
Dracard @ Oct 19th 2009 11:43PM
Plus faster patching. :)
Dracard @ Oct 19th 2009 11:44PM
Oh and if you blame someone, blame the publisher, 2K, not Gearbox. Wasn't their call.
ballistic3188 @ Oct 19th 2009 11:14PM
why the hell is the computer version later than the console version? i should be downloading borderland right now
Solace @ Oct 19th 2009 11:14PM
I'll wait for a price drop, it is a 2K Game so they drop in price pretty quick.
xenothaulus @ Oct 19th 2009 11:23PM
"Basically, you now have only one excuse for not getting Borderlands tonight if you're into the game and you're in the US, and that is not wanting to go to GameStop and stand in line at midnight."
Or waiting until next week when the PC version comes out and I don't have to pay for multiplayer.
Residentevil72501 (PSN: rankore) @ Oct 19th 2009 11:36PM
Dont have to pay for multiplayer on the PS3 version either! Woot! lol
amart @ Oct 20th 2009 2:06AM
5$ a month... that's nearly 20 minutes of work for me.. oh no!.. how will I ever afford XBL :(
Prox @ Oct 20th 2009 9:12AM
You pay $5 a month for XBL? I bought my 13 month (12 + 1 "free") card on Amazon for $40. Since I didn't have to pay sales tax or shipping, that puts XBL at $3.08/month.
That_Guy436 @ Oct 19th 2009 11:23PM
Nice all three Brownsville, TX locations will be doing this. I'm heading there in about an hour then. (it's currently 10:23pm)
johnnynumber5 @ Oct 20th 2009 1:10AM
Someone says Brownsville?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0s_tXaTCpo
Hell yeah.
johnnynumber5 @ Oct 20th 2009 1:11AM
btw I know it's not the same place as the one TX ... jus sayin

Special Agent Steve @ Oct 20th 2009 6:21PM
There are other things he can do to make you happy.
Arturo @ Oct 19th 2009 11:35PM
My stupid job won't let me get mine now, have to get up in the morning. But I suppose without it I might not be able to buy it in the first place. Sigh, bedtime :/
NevEP @ Oct 19th 2009 11:35PM
You can always go to a 24 hour Wal-Mart...
TheMCFaceman @ Oct 19th 2009 11:39PM
I'm thinkin this was just a taaaad unnecessary.
johnnynumber5 @ Oct 19th 2009 11:46PM
I'm having to pretend I don't care about this game with already having bought Demons Souls, Sigma 2 & Uncharted 2. The only games I'm buying other than PSN ones the rest of the year are NSMB Wii, MW2 & AC2.
Sly @ Oct 19th 2009 11:49PM
you aren't getting ratchet? for shame johnny. for shame.
naw, i'm kidding. games are expensive as it is, and with a release list as stacked as the coming months, we're gonna need all the spare cash we can get, amirite?
Markez (attempting to call me less of a man because i knew so much about pans) @ Oct 20th 2009 12:00AM
Just bought Critter Crunch, my first PSN game, will have to check it out later tonight.
johnnynumber5 @ Oct 20th 2009 1:04AM
Damn you Sly ... see thats one I forgot about!
Maybe I'll get Ratchet instead of that new Mario Bros.
@Markez
I picked it up as well ... pretty good game (beautiful art style) ... but if you want a taste of what the PSN is all about get Burn Zombie Burn, The Last Guy, Luminies Supernova, Super Stardust HD & Echnochrome. Those are some of the absolute best games (especially Burn Zombie Burn & Stardust HD!) on the platform ... and on any platform period.
Sly @ Oct 20th 2009 6:01PM
i second the stardust recommendation. fat princess and shatter are awesome too.
Chris Miller @ Oct 19th 2009 11:48PM
This game is fantastic. So much better than I even expected. It's like you throw a FPS into a Diablo style universe. It blends together perfectly. Only thing I could use is a bit of tweaking in the aiming, but past that it really is awesome.
Chris Miller @ Oct 19th 2009 11:52PM
Oh, totally forgot. Only other thing I'm not liking so much is the vehicle customization...at least thus far to where I'm at in the game (13 hours in or so) You have one type of vehicle, you can choose from 2 weapons and 8 paint jobs. That's it :( Not a huge deal but I really did expect more out of the vehicle bit. Might change as I get further, might get more parts and such but I just don't know yet. We shall see :D
Sly @ Oct 19th 2009 11:59PM
did the store you went to start selling it early?
johnnynumber5 @ Oct 20th 2009 1:13AM
He probably got it in the mail. I remember when I got my copy of Gears 2 from Amazon the day before it's actual street date.
Monica Dickey @ Oct 20th 2009 1:27AM
That's the summary I've been waiting for. Sounds like I'm gonna love it.
