Couldn't they just switch to a peer2peer hosting method?

@Extinction Yes, they could switch to P2P.

By releasing it on XBLA. *rimshot*

But hey, at least PSN is free! Because we all know it costs nothing to provide game servers.

It was a fun local 4 player game, but no one ever played online.

Isn't this an online-only game? Will the game be taken off the PS store so people unaware don't buy it?

I'm guessing giving it away on Qore didn't help any. I've played it once and now it just sits on my HD.

It's sad when an online game dies. Then there's nothing left but memories. And maybe some youtube videos and photos, but that's all.

Hmm, I played this with my daughter a few minutes the other day. You can play it offline with up to 4 players, so it doesn't totally kill the game that the servers are going down. I'm surprised they were up this long!

What annoys me is games that have trophies you can only get online, but nobody ever plays those games online. Age of Booty, Puzzle Quest Galactrix, etc. I think they should get rid of those online requirements. At least Uncharted 2 only has two online trophies, and they just require that you try out the multiplayer game and the co-op game. More developers should follow this example, in my opinion.

And that's why they shouldn't be allowed to make multiplayer trophies, at least in PSN-only games

Agreed, sometimes I play games purely offline, and should not be forced to play online to get trophies.

A lot of people I am sure, do not even play their PS3 online (they are out there), so they are penalised for not playing online by not being allowed certain trophies.

Unfair IMO

penalized? really? they're just fake trophies. no one ever really looks at them.

But then.....lots of the people who play their games only offlne probably wouldn't be connected to the internet AT ALL meaning No trophies!

@ cjschrissouth

You don't have to play your games online to earn trophies.

Although you're only showing off to yourself then, so maybe it defeats the purpose.

I don't like earning online-only trophies like that myself either, but I don't see the point in depriving the people that do prefer to play online the ability to earn trophies the same way that we enjoy to earn them in single player. If anything, Sony should allow the developers to create 2 separate Platinums for online and offline so if you only like to shoot for single player trophies the completionist in you isn't completely denied.

Epic list fail:

I'm still baffled they couldn't come up with a better game than Calling All Cars to complete their list. Then I remembered that it's msnbc...

Honestly I love Calling all Cars. Its a fantastic multiplayer game. My only gripes with it are the lack of any new maps or content, and that four player mode is way to frantic.

I'm sad to see it go, I always want to see PSN and XBLA games develop a loyal community and thrive.

That said, anybody interested in starting a PSN online server Death Pool? Now that the first server shutdown is out of the way: Who's next to go?

Would be a shame to see this game die completely. Online mode has been very quiet, but not completely dead recently. And today it's been actually quite active, I've played with over 10 different people.

I'm hoping the shutdown could be cancelled if there's enough action on the servers. So I created a new Calling All Cars forum and I've been inviting players there. Those of you who like the game, feel free to register and lets get some games going!

The forum is at http://www.arctic-charge.com/cac/

I had this game when it first released and back then there were alot of people playing online. But that only lasted about 1-2 months after the game released, then no one played it online anymore. I liked the game.

They should of just added a map pack with a few new maps and trophy support, and that would of got people playing it online again, for a bit anyways.
