It's a freakin' football title in Europe.

Why this is a surprise to anyone, I don't know.

Good on Uncharted 2 for selling as much as it did as a single console release, anyway.

Yes, but FIFA has been out for 3 weeks already and is just surpassing a million sold. Plus, you can assume that with sales slowing down each week, Uncharted 2 could not have sold many copies. Now the question is... why?!

Wouldn't you think Uncharted would *debut* with at least 500,000?!

.....because it's the premier football video game release.

In Europe.

You know, those people that go bat**** crazy over anything even mildly football related?

Nevermind the fact that it's on PS3, 360, PS2, Wii, PSP, DS, and PC.

And Uncharted 2 is on..... the PS3.

@Bloo
This article is abit misleading because when it said All Formats what it really means is all FIFA 10 sales for all consoles combine. Thats the X360+PS3+Wii+PS2 sales for the week.
U2 top in Individual formats though.

Probably because the horrible audio issues on the PS3 demo turned a lot of people off from buying that version.

I'm guessing it's what Vidikron said as far as the difference in Brutal Legend's sales on Xbox and PS3. PS3 owners had to choose between Brutal Legend and Uncharted 2 if they were only going to get one game. Xboxers had to choose between BL and...I dunno. I don't have one.

By the way, anyone else ever go to metacritic and see that GTA4 has a higher composite score than Uncharted 2 and just think, "Well, that's not right?"

Not that GTA4 wasn't awesome, but...Uncharted 2 is just on a whole new level. Love it, love it, love it!!!

Looking at the image for this article, it just seems wrong that the sponsor's logo on the front of the jersey is 10 times as big as the team's seal or name.

Shame on people for buying a sports game more than Uncharted 2. Also, Brutal Legend really doesn't deserve to sell that well, it was a very very mediocre game from a gameplay perspective. I'd buy the soundtrack if they would release it though.

You are the problem why games fail for trying something new.

"Brutal Legend really doesn't deserve to sell that well"

Developers always rehash the same ideas because of people like you. Same fate as Mirror's edge, which was a fantastic game.

I hate to break it to you, but Brutal Legend really didn't do anything new. It was basically Overlord on a slightly bigger scale, and a semi-open world.

For shame you silly dev's for trying something new. I agree with Traceur_Ryuk we have come to a point where we need to branch out and try new things. If we continue down this same path of gaming styles and keeping genres the same we could reach a point where the market might begin to grow stagnant.

While to you Brutal Legends might seemed to be a mediocre game others might applaud the chance taken with it and how it plays. Developers should be encouraged to sometimes take that risk and try out new inventive idea and make unique games.

I had the displeasure of renting Brutal Legend and I must say is severely lacking in gameplay.I found it really strange that Eddie couldn't jump; Schafer should really consider patching that. With it's (at times) funny comedy and soundtrack I think it would have been better off as a CGI movie than any thing else.

There seems to be a reading comprehension problem here, cause I just said it doesn't do anything new or inventive. It's actually pretty lacking and shallow in the gameplay department, which also has been done before so it's not new there either :P

And I think the main problem with people not buying these games is because of the internet reviews and such. Back in the SNES era we would buy a game whether or not it had above an 85 on metacritic and we didn't know a thing about the game except that it looked unique and interesting.

You don't deserve sales just because you take a chance and/or tried something new. You still need to execute your idea well and the game must be fun. I'm all for new ideas, but I'm not buying something that's not fun just because it's different.

@traucer

maybe your folks were buying your games for you but I had to pay for all mine on my own..

So I def still waited for Nintendo Power or EGM to review any game I purchased. Unless a friend bought it first or something. But I never ever in my life bought a game based on the back of the box.

I would hope most 'core gamers can say the same.

Well, yeah. I was like 10 during SNES era. But to say someone isn't a "core" gamer because they are too close minded to try a game because it has a less than stellar review is completely idiotic.

No I meant I assume most 'core gamers would investigate any game purchase they make. We all know the back of the box is less than truthful. I read one yesterday and it said "Features Multiple Levels" as a selling point... Seriously.

I think I"m just tired of the open world games. I like my games to be cinematic and linear. I like progressing through a beautifully scripted story or adventure. I'm tired of collecting things and going on side missions.

Brutal legend is not a bad game but after playing through uncharted 2 it almost seems like it is.

Man that game has issues....

I mentioned how the AI teammate of mine ran me over and then waited for the medic to revive me then ran me over again.... Well how about I point my cross hairs and issue the heal wounded command on one of my dumb ass teammate and when he kneels to get healed he hauls ass and starts running away while the other dumb ass teammate chases him.

After watching this for about 5 minutes while laughing my ass off I then issued the follow me command and realized this game sucks......

Operation Flashpoint is probably the worst game I've played this generation and I've played some bad ones. The graphics were muddy and looked like a combination of brown, grey and dark green human waste. The environment was completely barren and empty, the companion NPC AI was terrible, the "quick" menu system was unnecessarily complex and there wasn't any type of tutorial to go in depth and explain the mechanics. Aside from all that the gameplay itself wasn't fun, the enemies couldn't be distinguished from the environment, it wasn't open world as promised and the game just completely sucked.

It's one of the only games I've bought this generation that after playing it for about an hour I popped it out ... and drove it back up to Gamestop the next night so I could trade it in for store credit ... check this out -- the guy who was working told me he would only do it once but that he would let me return it as new! He said he had also played it the night before and that it was one of the worst games ever made and that he felt bad that anyone would actually have to lose money on a game that terrible.

I'm not exaggerating or anything when I say that it's quite possibly the worst PS3 game ever made. It's certainly the worst one I've ever played -- ever. E-V-E-R.

Why people (especially in the UK) seem to flock to the game and defend it is beyond me. Go onto the official forums and you'll be amazed at the amount of features the developers promised that didn't make it into the final copy of the game. Yet there are still people that say it has no issues ... maybe it's just the PS3 version (not sure since it's all I played) but I can with 100% certainty that it's one of the worst games ever created.

Hold up, England..... the word Soccer is derived from the term Association Football. You gave the sport that name you brought this upon yourselves.

Don't blame america for calling it soccer.

you can call it the NFL and we still wouldn't watch it.

I hate the word 'soccer', sounds so amateur >.<

It's footbal, FOOTBALL, thats what it was, thats what it is, thats what it always will be, why you ask??? Well lets see, there is a ball involved, yup, round, filled with air, and there is a foot involved, which foot is depending on your preference. It involves no hands, no body armour, nothing else except the relationship between the foot and the ball, thats why it is called football, don't give me that nonsense about how it should be called soccer, no it shouldn't.

It's more to do with you calling yours football rather than calling ours soccer, we wouldn't mind you calling it soccer if it wasn't for the reason that you stole the other name, you get me?

Also I posted this before but it didn't show up, so it may appear twice later.
