"The production lines within Kojima Productions are currently full," Hideo Kojima writes on the Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker blog. The candid comments, translated by Andriasang, spring from the designer's recently expressed desire to return to the Zone of the Enders universe -- someday. Clogged by large, anticipated titles like the aforementioned Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid: Rising, the Kojima Productions pipeline doesn't have the room to support the fan-requested sequel. But there's plenty of room in the revered designer's head.
"I already have a game plan and method for sales in my head," Kojima says before concluding, "I cannot make a promise about time. However, I can promise a sequel." While far from seeing the green light, a new Zone of the Enders would seek to obtain a level of success the previous game missed out on, just as it missed a more profitable release window. "At that time, if I hadn't made a mistake with the release date, Anubis [as ZOE 2 is known in Japan] might have ended up a major Kojima Productions title to follow MGS, still seeing development as a series." How frustrating -- if only that considerable retconning power could be put to use outside of the Metal Gear mythology.

A new ZOE is just the thing I want from Konami. I wouldn't even mind if they put the MGS titles on hold to make it.

Metal Gear is over as far as I'm concerned, 4 was a good ending. Now it's getting to be like the Saw movies. And this is coming from a huge Metal Gear fan.
Bring on the new ZOE! Fuck this PSP noise.

ZOE is the best mech series simply because it has literal cockpits.

Only ZOE game I was close to playing was the ZOE 2 demo on a Playstation 2 demo disc and I was quite impressed. It gave me a very "Dragonball Z" type of vibe, which isn't a bad thing.
Too bad I sold my PS2 to help finance my B/C PS3 which then crapped out. I may buy a cheap PS2 again or emulate it on my PC.

Indeed, you got it right. ZOE 2 (the only ZOE I played) plays like Dragonball (Budokai) but the cutscenes ala Manga are phenomenal and the story is quite original, making it really different from DB.
Now, I gotta go listen to its soundtrack :]

Seeing as I fully anticipate ZoE3, I can only be a little miffed at Kojima here. It's almost as if he's saying that he doesn't have a choice in what he's working on, only what Konami tells him to. Otherwise, I would have thought that the perfect time to work on ZoE3 or even one of the Boktai games would have been after MGS4 was finished and the production pipelines were relatively free at Kojima Productions. Especially considering that after MGS4 was finished, Kojima originally came out and said that he was done with Metal Gear for the time being (which did change later - at one of the E3's I believe).
By the above logic, if Kojima really wanted to work on a different series than Metal Gear, why not after MGS4? And, if he decided randomly to work on Peace Walker and Rising (and Castlevania), that's fine, I mean, by why them, if he has such a strong desire to work on other titles? And, if it IS Konami pulling the strings on what he's working on, how do we know we'll ever get another ZoE or Boktai game, given how well Metal Gear sells? They may continually want him shelling out new titles, for all we know.

I meant to say "that's fine, I mean, but why them" in the one sentence in the second paragraph. Also, as an addendum to that same line, why did he have to work on those titles now, anyway, if he wanted to work on others so much? He could have easily held off working on Peace Walker and Rising until the completion of something other than Metal Gear, or even had one of his teams starting the work on one of them, and then going to it once it had a decent start and his other new title was finished.

ZOE will be a day-1 purchase for me, but I gotta wonder, how many units it will actually sell.
I mean, people LOVE Shadow of the Colossus but it wasn't a big money maker.

the PS3 Deserves the third runner. I would love to see a game that includes Delores , Jehuty and Anubis. In the whole make believe worlds of Mecha machines they outclass everything ever conceived Even the gundams. Zero shift is no joke. I too wish he could work on this soon.
