Anybody know of an actual review for Borderlands yet? Not that OXM "review".
Ryan @ Oct 19th 2009 2:06PM
IGN has their review up.

Yeah.. so far the reviews are more than I expected. Consider it bought!

Traceur_Ryuk [All Digital until December] (PSN: Ryuk_shinigami) @ Oct 19th 2009 3:07PM
So with an average score of like 8.5 for borderlands people say "consider it bought" yet with Brutal Legend people say "worth a rent, maybe".
Traceur_Ryuk [All Digital until December] (PSN: Ryuk_shinigami) @ Oct 19th 2009 3:12PM
I guess that's why you don't hype up a game like that.
Freak Mojo @ Oct 19th 2009 3:12PM
@ Traceur_Ryuk
Woohoo!!! Quoted :P
But seriously... for me, the gameplay in Brutal Legend was going to be a letdown. I would have preferred it to be less RTS and more hack n slash with maybe some platform style elements. Honestly though, once I played the demo, my excitement for the game dropped a ton.
So I think this will be a bit more fun for me than what the other was offering. Different play types elicit different buying hot buttons :)
tmacairjordan87 @ Oct 19th 2009 3:14PM
I guess you would have a point if those 2 games were identical in anything other than score.
Neuromancer @ Oct 19th 2009 3:17PM
What's wrong with OXM?
McWilly @ Oct 19th 2009 3:40PM
It has the word xbox in it. Why else?
Babel @ Oct 19th 2009 5:18PM
Borderlands split-screen co-op sold it for me - it's a feature that is lacking in so many of today's games. A bit of open world FPS RPG tomfoolery with my brother? Count me in!
Monica Dickey @ Oct 19th 2009 6:45PM
Glad it sounds like BL gameplay lives up to the hype and art... I liked the style change, it really sets it apart from a lot of other FPS games.
I think I'll rent first though. Too many good games coming out in the next few months and not sure if I have enough time or money to invest in them hehe.
freaparn @ Oct 19th 2009 7:12PM
Anyone heard of a 360/PS3 comparison video/review? I was wondering if there were any noticeable differences between the consoles.
freaparn @ Oct 19th 2009 7:16PM
Er, to clarify, I'm not trying to lay flamebait. Just wondering if there was any known issues, as this is my first non-exclusive title since acquiring a PS3 to cuddle alongside the 360.
Mazrael @ Oct 19th 2009 8:27PM
Borderlands seems pretty awsome from the ign video review. Since it was annouced I felt it was just an XBLA game, never really grabbed my attention til now.. doubt I'll get chance for co op..
Forza 3 is going to take some time..
Beaten Brutal Legend over 4 days (on Brutal) to 100%, pretty damn good game too, was hardly RTS though, more like Overfiend.. not even touched online, still got Fallout3 GotY to get through, all the dlc in there too..
VaultBoy @ Oct 20th 2009 2:57AM
MetaCritic is a good place to start.
andrewpoe @ Oct 19th 2009 2:02PM
Holy crap, this week is stacked! Borderlands, Mytran Wars, Space Invaders Extreme 2 & Half-Minute Hero are must buys for me
thomashenwood @ Oct 19th 2009 2:36PM
Europeans get Forza 3 this week :)
Traceur_Ryuk [All Digital until December] (PSN: Ryuk_shinigami) @ Oct 19th 2009 2:48PM
Gonna buy Trine, nothing else for me this week.
wormania @ Oct 19th 2009 2:50PM
That's the wrong set of DLC, This week is the Classic Rock Pack.
(You managed to take the DLC from the wrong month. And somehow the wrong date as well.)

I can help fight by your side! In high school they used to call me The French Tickler... though I'm not French. Besides, I also carry around a secret weapon: The Hairball of Doom!
Shagittarius @ Oct 19th 2009 3:40PM
Ok since I've so generously been given room for 1 guest, everyone interested please submit a short description of your sword fighting skills , then I will determine the winner later on.
Special Agent Steve @ Oct 19th 2009 10:39PM

Another fantastic week. I mean, BORDERLANDS...it looks brilliant!
Big D. @ Oct 19th 2009 2:54PM
Yeah baby, finally WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2010! HELL YEAH!!!
Big D. @ Oct 19th 2009 10:39PM
I get downvoted because I like a game that isn't as popular as the same old shooters? LMAO
Big D. @ Oct 19th 2009 10:41PM
I get downvoted for liking a game that isn't as popular as the same old boring shooter games? LMAO
PR0F3TA (PSN - PROPHETA) @ Oct 19th 2009 2:54PM
please Joystiq help me decide.... Borderlands or Demon's Souls?
Neuromancer @ Oct 19th 2009 3:18PM
Borderlands, unless you hate yourself.
johnnynumber5 @ Oct 19th 2009 3:24PM
Demons Souls!
The game is just so damn special and unique ... not to mention addictive. It's really one of the best games I've played all year. Not that there is anything wrong with Borderlands (don't know but I won't be getting it anytime soon) but from experience I can say that Demons Souls is a really special game.
Alton Brown [ XBL: LordToastington] @ Oct 19th 2009 3:26PM
Demon's Souls, my man.
LokeSTL @ Oct 19th 2009 3:39PM
Demon's Souls!! Haven't played Borderlands yet, but it can definitely wait until I beat DS 3 or 4 times. If you don't buy DS now, you may not have the chance later. Atlus is known for limited runs of their products.
baby sea tuna @ Oct 19th 2009 4:04PM
Borderlands. Check ebay in like a week for cheap copies of Demon's Souls. I guarantee that there's going to be a ton of "Played once" copies, given how hard it sounds like it is.
RagingStormX @ Oct 19th 2009 5:17PM
Demons Souls buddy....that game is like grade A crack. I find it quite funny how many people and reviews say that the game is hard. The only thing I can see is that this game forces people to think, and has no mercy for not doing so. So if figuring out your next approch to a stage or boss is difficult for you, then you may find this game fustrating. Yes the game is designed for you to die alot, but I am shocked as to how reviews have twisted this. I have never had an unfair death yet (and I can't count how many times I've already died). This game is a masterpiece. My Uncharted 2 is still in the plastic and Sigma 2 fun got cut short because of this game. I don't know what Boarderlands has in store or your taste for games...but Demons Souls gets my vote hands down.
Mr. Joe @ Oct 20th 2009 4:29PM
demon's souls. it'll chew you up and spit you out and you'll be crawling back begging for more.
tmacairjordan87 @ Oct 19th 2009 2:54PM
Just Borderlands for me, and I'm relieved at the reviews it's been getting as I was starting to get skeptical about how fun it would be to play. I was worried it was gonna be Brutal Legend all over again (still could be I suppose).
Freak Mojo @ Oct 19th 2009 2:58PM
I actually held off on opening up BL.... once I read what the actual gameplay was going to be like (the demo was nothing like what it actually is), I was turned off by it. Not a fan of that type of gameplay. Plus I love the sound of the drop in/out co-op.
This will be the brutality to replace it. Well.. minus the awesome soundtrack :(
johnnynumber5 @ Oct 19th 2009 3:27PM
Yeah Borderlands looks really cool but with Demons Souls and Trine dropping on PSN this week I'm passing on it for now.
Ryan @ Oct 19th 2009 3:34PM
@ Freak Mojo
Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa, what demo?
Ryan @ Oct 19th 2009 3:35PM
Wooops, my bad.
Your BL = Brutal Legend
My BL = Borderlands
Peter Moore @ Oct 19th 2009 2:55PM
For Wii/PS3/Xbox 360 DLC, you didn't list the Abbey Road album for Beatles: Rock Band, which comes out tomorrow.
dark_inchworm (stronger than never, ever before) @ Oct 19th 2009 2:59PM
I'm glad to see that Borderlands is doing well with critics thus far. Too bad I won't be able to pick it up just yet, between Gamecrazy and a KMFDM concert.
Speaking of Gamecrazy, their 50% sale just started today - not 80%. They may not even shift to 80%, if corporate memos are anything to go by. Shame, shame.
Shagittarius @ Oct 19th 2009 3:04PM
I saw KMFDM in '95 at the warfield in San Fransisco. I was never into them but it was a memorable show, I enjoyed the company I was with.
Just thought I'd tell you that for no particular reason...
dark_inchworm (stronger than never, ever before) @ Oct 19th 2009 3:07PM
Sadly, I wasn't old enough to enjoy such a thing at the time. I imagine that tour would be much more ass-kicking than their current one... don't get me wrong, though, I'll still enjoy them.
Space @ Oct 19th 2009 3:49PM
I saw them was around 2001 or 2002. It was down right amazing. they had the full cast of vocalists ray watts, sascha k, lucia, tim skold. now I think it's just sascha and lucia. still...should be good.
