UK retailer offers Zelda: Spirit Tracks collector's tin

Retailer Gamestation is taking pre-orders on the Spirit Tracks: Limited Tin Edition for £39.99. However, Nintendo told CVG that the box is actually a pre-order bonus, and will be available from Gamestation's parent company, GAME, with early purchases of the regular £29.99 game. So, basically, don't buy this thing from Gamestation just yet!
While the box doesn't seem to be designed to hold coins like the Mario one, it is designed to hold the two figurines that will be included. We're really hoping (and almost certain) this is a mockup, and that it doesn't come with oddly flat figurines and a game box that tells you to "Pre-order your copy today!"

Seriously? Another UK-exclusive collector's edition? What the crap?
Infamous, Uncharted 2, Ratchet & Clank ACIT, NSMB Wii and now Spirit Tracks.
It's official: America sucks when it comes to special/limited editions. Thanks, Europe!
Dfox @ Oct 19th 2009 6:19PM
Don't forget the Assassin's Creed II Black Edition. We get a castrated version.
Warlock @ Oct 19th 2009 6:11PM
No kidding. Why limit this stuff to UK? :(
RobLink (Alex Kidd incarnate) @ Oct 19th 2009 6:44PM
Why not? It's not often we get stuff like this. And think of how much Japan gets.
boltu222 @ Oct 19th 2009 8:09PM
Not to mention Tekken 6 and Dissidia: FF... and Japan doesn't really get many limited/collectors editions unless it has a console with it... or at least ones I find worth it...
There was also a tin case given away with Pokemon Platinum at HMV.
rockinghorsedreams @ Oct 20th 2009 11:09AM
America got that exclusive, fancy Rooster Hat with Scribblenauts though, that's....comparable...okay, you're right, America sucks.
cede @ Oct 19th 2009 5:47PM
Yes, this definitely must be a mock up. The proportions are awfully skewed on the figurines for them to be real.
Real versions of them would be cool to have though.
Yan @ Oct 19th 2009 5:47PM
I hope no one pays £10 for a tin that should be included for free (in the NSMBW case). It's kinda despicable how they probably wouldn't tell customers about the option of getting it for free.
boltu222 @ Oct 19th 2009 8:10PM
Thats gamestation for u. Full price games and order of their site and you won't get it by release.
Their parent company GAME on the other hand is much better.
MarkyB86 @ Oct 19th 2009 5:48PM
Has to be a mock up, that lid wont even fit the box.
Sly @ Oct 19th 2009 5:50PM
now THAT'S a pre-order bonus!
esposch @ Oct 19th 2009 7:50PM
+1 man.
Hopefully Australia gets this (We have GAME too)
merobb @ Oct 19th 2009 5:51PM
Everyone across the ocean are getting the good preorders this year. :(
CBAkiba25 @ Oct 19th 2009 5:55PM
It seems the UK has an excess of resources, particularly tin.
Marco le Polo @ Oct 19th 2009 5:56PM
Dang that's sweet! You could hide stuff in there and no one would suspect a thing...
Hurmun @ Oct 19th 2009 6:07PM
weak
Nigeria: Charmy Bee DF @ Oct 19th 2009 6:11PM
I forgot this game was coming out. Hopefully there'll still be some of these tins about when I pick up this game next year...
[ArchiGamer] [Controlling you through a chip in your butt since 1999] @ Oct 19th 2009 6:12PM
Damn you UK and your awesome pre-order bonus!!!
That's it, I'm moving to the UK!!
INNUENDO 64 @ Oct 19th 2009 6:21PM
Holy mindfuck. The box clearly looks longer than it is wide, but the lid looks much more square. i for the life of me cant imagine the lid fitting on the box at all and its driving me nuts.
J @ Oct 19th 2009 6:23PM
I just bought a Triforce belt buckle :)
But, since I've never owned a belt buckle before, I didn't realize that you have to have a special kind of belt for them :(
Wii60 @ Oct 19th 2009 6:30PM
need to finish the first one
Double J @ Oct 19th 2009 7:10PM
Judging by the pictures, I already own those two figures. They look exactly like the Gashapon figurines that came out for Phantom Hourglass.
Shadowbender (Nelson Is Behind You) @ Oct 19th 2009 7:33PM
This game hasn't gotten enough attention. I'm excited for this one. I've always loved The Legend of Zelda so, so much, even if Phantom Hourglass was extremely frustrating at times. Still, very excited for Spirit Tracks. A lot of good memories with LoZ.
RupeeClock @ Oct 19th 2009 8:24PM
W-what the? I have that EXACT figurine! I got it off play-asia.com as a gashapon... in Febuary 2008!!

...Fancy that! The Dark Nut they're featuring in Spirit Tracks, was promoted as a Phantom Hourglass toy back in 2007. I'm pretty sure the guy was never in Phantom Hourglass either.
Fab @ Oct 20th 2009 6:23AM
It's not a Darknut, it's a Phantom, they patrolled the Temple of the Ocean King in PH. The exact same Link figure was also in that gashapon set, except it came with the eponymous hourglass that I'm guessing won't come with the tin. There were also figures of Linebeck, Tetra and the chief and baby Goron.

RupeeClock @ Oct 20th 2009 7:09AM
Hmm...I'm not so sure actually.
I recall that the Phantoms came in three colours, red, blue and yellow, each with different behaviour patterns. There was also the final boss phantom.
I don't think any of those were the grey Phantom pictured here.

Am I the only one who is completely apathetic toward the concept of "Zelda on a Train"?
J @ Oct 19th 2009 9:52PM
No... in fact, I would almost call what I'm experiencing "disappointment."
Mr Khan @ Oct 19th 2009 11:58PM
Hopefully GameStop will pull through on this. Already have my preorder locked in over there.
HippoHero @ Oct 20th 2009 12:34AM
I know I don't need a tin box for my game, and those figures will just end up lost somewhere with my miniature Halo Helmet and Sims 3 flash drive, but Goddammit.
I neeeeeed it.
Jenny Lee @ Oct 20th 2009 6:25AM
I wonder if they'll have this collectors edition in Canada, since we seem to get some things the UK does. It would be nice. :o
Baker1000 @ Oct 20th 2009 8:05AM
I've had both NSMB and Zelda pre-ordered from Game.co.uk for a long time. So I hope they actually do throw in the collectors edition for my order.
TCJJ @ Nov 1st 2009 8:50AM
Man, I really, REALLY want this. I hope it'll come out in New Zealand. Then again, New Zealand always gets screwed over with pre-order bonuses and limited edition things. But this looks awesome. What I'd really like is a Zelda Special Edition DSi along with Spirit Tracks and this tin. That'd be perfect. I already have my Zelda GBA SP (which is a little scratched, and I'm not happy about that). But this... this is nice. Plus, those DSis are way too expensive for what they're worth. If they were cheaper, I'd think about buying one.
