I can't stand how stubborn Nintendo was about no HDD and no HD. They're rise to fall.

if it had included those two options it would have been priced at $599 instead of $250... And probably the xbox360 and Ps3 would already be dead since motion controllers sealed this generation for Nintendo.

It would of been good to see those 2 things for the console. Like you said Ridgecity, motion-control already seal Nintendo this gen.

Even IF it falls, they're probably just waiting for it to fall before they throw out their next system.

Like, LITERALLY throw it out. Like, throw it in your face and demand money.
And you WILL cooperate.

3 years later and their insane sales and profits have dropped to just profits. Plus they let the PS3 with its much smaller user base and highly anticipated price drop to only beat it by a couple of thousand. What a disgrace.

So instead of making a shit ton of money, they are just making a ton? Yeah, that is really going to hurt them, no more money baths for them.

I'm glad. Nintendo goes through these periods of complacency followed by shocks of envelope-pushing innovation. let's hope they begin to take the complaints of Wii-owners seriously now.

the question being which of those complaints they can actually address, and which ones they can't. Many of them are structural and unalterable, like the friend-code thing

One that they could probably address is encouraging broader use for their own peripherals in their own games (and not leave it up to the unreliable 3rd parties to provide more software for most of their peripherals)

you can pretty much be sure Nintendo will make a free xbox live successor for their next system. Then everyone will brag about not having Netflix and how lame ass it is for that.

The sales had to slow down eventually. No way it was going to keep that pace up for an entire generation.

Yeah, there are only so many people you can sell the Wii too. After awhile you run out of them. Although I saw a lady buying one and a Wii fit plus today.

Possible. We'll see what effect the price-drop has on sales, vs the sales that it could have had without one

That's why their price-drop was somewhat ill-timed, i think. They could have held out to still have a terrific holiday at the higher price, then dropped to preempt a slump next year (right alongside their next big wave of titles)

Well if it's $99 for a Gamecube then the Wii would still be $199 seeing as it's 2 Gamecubes taped together!!

So much hate for Nintendo.
All because they came out with a great console.
No need for 1080p and Dolby Digital to have fun.

Everyone is still so butthurt that Nintendo made money with a less powerful console, it's like they're evil or something for doing so. Or because they aimed for a different demographic.

I was expecting a drop on sales, everyone has a console already, though I wonder how the DS is still selling so much.

Hardware sales were bound to decline. Noone can sustain growth forever. But I wouldn't count Nintendo out. They have a strong following when it comes to first party software. And the Wii continues to sell well enough, despite declines.

As far as revitalized PS3, I wouldn't make that assumption just yet. We all knew PS3 hardware sales would increase when the price was lowered. So we're seeing that demand. But can Sony sustain that momentum beyond the Christmas holidays? If they can, then I would consider them revitalized. All the consoles should experience a drop off in demand by February, but what will be interesting-- who will be the lead seller in consoles by then?
