We bet you didn't know Bayonetta was a (numerically) flawless game. As it turns out, it is ... at least according to Famitsu, which just gave the game a perfect 40/40 review -- the first perfect score given to a game available on Xbox, incidentally. It's no secret that the Japanese mag has been handing out perfect scores at an accelerated rate these days. Of the twelve games to receive a perfect score -- Bayonetta included -- six were awarded in the last two years. There are only so many reasons we can imagine that Bayonetta would receive such high scores.
First, it could be that Bayonetta is just a really good game. Second, it's possible the editors of Famitsu really have a thing for hair witches. Given the involvement of Hideki Kamiya -- one of the principal minds behind Devil May Cry -- it's probably the former. At least, we certainly hope it's the former.

Bayonetta is getting the TITS or GTFO treatment. So far it's working.

Famitsu is really starting to lose credibility in my eyes, with all these perfect scores.
Actually, numerical reviews in general are.

The comment above is overrated and I didn't enjoy it as much as the replies lead me to believe.
I'll give it a 7 for false expectation.

You didn't rate it above what you rated Halo 3, so you lost all of your credibility!

It's hilarious the way everyone has a a video game publication to laugh at, as though others are much better.
Also, there's nothing wrong with scores. Yes, it's silly to have 100 (or 40) point scales, but scores are useful for numerous reasons.

Not really, it's literally just Devil May Cry with a woman. Don't believe me? Watch the japanese demo footage on giant bomb. It's just about the same damn game (and I believe by the same creator too).

It's just Devil May Cry ON CRACK with a woman. If DMC was already over the top, then Bayonetta...
Really? One attack is a portal that opens up so that some high heel kicks the enemy for you? Bah. I know the game doesn't aim to be realistic, but come on.

The guys working on this have been involved in titles such as Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, Resident Evil 2, Okami and God Hand.
Fucking God Hand!
Why are you not excited?
(The best answer to that question by the way would be Madworld)

I'm entitled to an opinion, aren't I?
How come you guys upvoted phinn, and downvoted when we're both trying to indicate the same fact: with mw2, demon's souls, and UC2 (not to mention Fallout 3 goty), borderlands, NGS2, etc etc here, why anybody in their right might would want to waste time on this is beyond me.

And complaining about a game, that you have NO intension of buying is a better use of our time?

I've heard that Famitsu bases its scores on the fan anticipation. That being a separate argument entirely, I'm confused as to why Bayonetta is so 'anticipated'.

Played the japanese demo and could not stand the character and the music. It did have a great sense of style in terms of action and combat like DMC has. But if the Xbox got perfect score can the PS3 get it too?

Famitsu is a pretty corrupt magazine company so I really don't pay attention to their review scores (plus, Bayonetta looks awful so that just adds to the suspicion). They are good at leaking news from japanese companies though.
I pay attention to IGN more than Famitsu, except their nintendo team after naming Metroid the citizen kane of games. That was laughable.

The point was it shouldn't have been thrown out to begin with. It just ruined IGN's reputation even more, specially their nintendo team who I'm now convinced has nothing but crazies.

Oh, we've been convinced of their insanity for a long time. Their "Nintendo" team is the only team there that doesn't really like the platforms they're stuck with. From an opinion standpoint, they've never been very credible. They heavily overrate certain Wii games (The Conduit), but then heavily underrate others (Boy and his Blob)
But for this case, i can get behind them. Plus the whole group has been rather good about inside scoops. They predicted Shattered Memories and Extraction right on the nose at the start of the year.
