Black Wii system going to Europe as part of Wii Sports Resort bundle

Nintendo UK will release the black Wii system on November 6, as part of a limited edition bundle including matching Wii Remote, Nunchuk, and MotionPlus peripherals, and both Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. This bundle will be available elsewhere in Europe on November 20.

Along with the black bundle, Nintendo is releasing the black Classic Controller Pro accessory. No price has been announced for any of these items. Nintendo of America has yet to announce any plans to release any of these items -- in fact, it has announced that there are no plans. But, really, it's waiting until every holdout gets impatient and buys a white system.

If that is selling a decent price, that is a beautiful, black bundle.

There is a plan in the US. It's to not release until a month before Christmas. And then parents can be dive-bombed when Nintendo unleashes it's glory on our wallets.

Since this generation started, wasn't it supposed to be a "worldwide release" for anything in this generation? PS3, Wii, Xbox 360... Argh, damn you marketing people.

It's not very "pro" if you still need to connect it to the Wiimote. Sort it out, Ninners.

Agreed. I'm guessing they don't want to tempt diluting the remote control scheme by making an official wireless classic controller, keeping it wired keeps it secondary to the remote control scheme.

Keeping it wired also keeps it at $20 instead of $40.

Except for the fact that you then have the wiimote albatrossed to that wicked looking dual analog dealie (which I've never seen before. Do they have those in the US? If so, I might actually have to pick up Mario Kart Wii.)

What's so "pro" about it anyway? All I see is a third-party Dualshock. >_>Kidding aside, big N's just teasing us. Like said above, they'll wait until the last minute and say "O HAY BLACK WII IS AVAILABLE!" and kids everywhere will want one, and parents will go buy one.It's Christmas 07 all over again!

Not sure if you're joking or not, however no classic controller set up (even Gamecube) rivals the nunchuck/remote set up for Mario Kart Wii.

Yeah, the Wavebird is where it's at, they're just a little more expensive than I'm willing to drop to get another one.

No point in playing Mario Kart Wii without the wheel, i say. Haven't found a better racing scheme yet

I'd rather pay $40 for a wavebird than $20 for a classic and $40 for a wiimote.

Really? I can't play MKWii with anything but the Gamecube controller. And I don't really like the Wavebird, I play wired.

MKWii best control scheme: Wii Remote + Nunchuk. Easy to steer (analog stick) AND pull off stunts (shake Wii Remote).

Now, if they let you fully customize controls, then GameCube would've been best. But placing tricks/wheelies on the +Control Pad... was just dumb.

I'm still waiting for Red, Purple, Green, Grey, and Blue as well. I really question Nintendo when they show us the rainbow of colors they had in store for us (I was planning on getting red when it released because it looked BADASS) and then put out only white. :( I felt (feel) betrayed.

This isn't 2007.

I would like to get this in the US instead of another white one. I hope it's not bundled because we already have Wii sports resort.

I have to replace the old one for some reason, that thing is loud as hell. I don't know what happened but all of a sudden it's louder than the PS3 and 360 but works like a charm though.

They should release this with Dead Space Extraction. Sports Resort just isn't right for this evil Wii, or Ewiil if you will.

Could be useful, since Extraction is apparently tanking at retail (though one could debate whether it had much of a chance at selling well early on. We'll see where it ends up)

I'll get a black Wii with the next round of price cuts... or not. Haven't bought a Nintendo console since the 64.

That was the first thing I thought, maybe they've been holding off on the black wii's because it will show people just how much of a dust collector the console really is.

The biggest problem is that I have all these VC and WiiWare games on my white Wii...so even if I get the black one if (when?) it gets released, I'll have to either buy them all over again, not play them, or still keep the white one hooked up.

For the love of God, Nintendo, find a way to transfer purchases! It wouldn't be hard, just make everyone who wants to do it register their Wii serial number with a username, and then when you get a new Wii with a new serial number, register that one too and allow a one time transfer to the new serial number.

how is that sad?? it gives the consumers color options that we want....

It's sad because what I want from the wii is maybe a model that supports HD resolutions. You don't have to update the graphics or add more polygons, just add a bit more video ram so it can render at 720p and not look like shit on my HDTV

Or you know, actually focus on online play. Brawl is absolutely horrible online. I'm not asking for xbox live but friends codes and horrible latency have got to go.

Nothing wrong with a new color, but it's something that was supposed to be available at launch. Microsoft and Sony have both been working hard adding features and improving software and networking on their consoles, while nintendo has done absolutely nothing to the wii, they just sit there and print money.

Are you serious that a color change is innovative and benefits the consumer? Unlike a car, the color of the console doesn't increase your status. Of course, some people will grasp on to anything they can - grasp away.

They dropped the damn price, and this bundle projects quite a bit of value added

And how is "forcing" Gold Memberships a good thing?
