God of War 3's director Stig Asmussen thinks a good way to keep players involved beyond the single-player campaign is through downloadable challenge maps. Speaking with GamePro, he acknowledges the game will ship with a certain amount of challenge rooms, with a possibility of adding more, via DLC, at a later stage. He mentions a challenge in which players have to ride a Cyclops and kill a certain number of enemies in a time limit, possibly using "the Cyclops to get through a certain type of hazard or area or something like that."
Asmussen notes that creating challenge maps occurs late in the development process, but hopes that things move beyond the planning phase within "the next two months."

I hate when developers plan DLC before a game comes out. They should put everything into the game they can at the time, and release DLC for ideas that had been pushed under the rug during development or new ideas that are thought of after release.
That said, GOW challenge rooms are definitely something I'd be interested in. They have my vote.

ummmmm you think they wait until AFTER a game is shipped and THEN think about DLC?? that would be dumb.....if anything they should just keep it underwraps and then announce it when the game is released

I thought the SIXAXIS action in Folklore was kind of inventive, but on the whole it's not my cup of tea. But it's not shit either, silly troll.

Bobby Kotick 2, stfu & gtfo, one bobby kotick is enough, I don't think Joystiq can handle another one.
Now, let me correct your statement. The Sixaxis is and always will be shit for really precise movement (see Lair and Motorstorm, for example). However, when used right and/or sparely, it can add just that little extra immersion (see PSN titles like Flower and PixelJunk Eden).
I think skyzbig's idea can (and probably will) be executed, it's something that can be easily programmed for the Sixaxis.

As much as I enjoy the God of War games, there isn't much reason to play through them more than, I'd say 3-4 times. This DLC is great news though I can't bring myself to purchase DLC for games that don't have a high replay value.

Not really. I'd personally get the DLC should it be free. I wouldn't actually pay money for this kind of thing, especially since past challenges for God of War usually just pissed me off. I don't know about you, but if I want to get pissed off, I'll throw myself in front of a moving car, which doesn't cost 10 dollars or an Xbox Live account.

yeah any single player game that can be played more than 1 time is considered to have ' good replay value' IMO.
you must really get your bang for your buck if you play a game more than 4 times to be considered 'high replay value'

Huh? Why would you want to play through a game like this 3-4+ times :S Very few games have me playing more then once, let alone 3 times, and these are games I love. If it do play through them again, its either because I havent played it in a LONG time or there are extras to unlock.

Well let's see, I played God of War 2 2.5 times. Fantastic game, one of the best hack and slash games ever created and one of the best I've ever played. Though, FOR ME

Was for me as well, but I didn't need to play it three times, once on hard, second time on hardest setting with extras included. Any time after that wasn't me playing, just watching someone else get addicted to the series. :)

I figured Challenge rooms would be something they added to this....and as long as its done right I'm all for it....and as long as the first few add-on rooms are free(like Batman:AA) then I'm all for it

I think GoW needs challenge maps as much as it needs multiplayer.

No, it needs challenge rooms with topless chicks, where you have to try and please them with the correct thumbstick movements.

I didn't cared to much for the challange bonus mission in the previous GoW games, but this one seams interesting. I wouldn't pay for them, though.

As long as I get lots of content in the disc they could add whatever they want as dlc.

Wait, wait, wait?? Considering? Nah man. Don't think. Just do it. You've got a maximum of 50GB on that Blu-ray. Fill it up. That's what separates Lions from Men. (PlayStation 3 from Xbox 360) is the size if your Blu-ray. Xbox 360 is limited to a wuessy 9GB Dual Layer using primitive technology. You're not limited to that. Think of how much more Epic could have done with a Blu-ray disc. We'll, there ya go. Again, don't think or consider, just do it. Gamers will love ya for it. I mean, this is your big climax. The last God of War game, right? Well, go out with a bang!
