It's quite clear to us that Gran Turismo 5 creative director Kazunori Yamauchi knows way more about cars than we do. Take, for instance, this latest making-of video discovered by GT Planet (embedded after the break), where he gets down to the nitty gritty on the inclusion of Mercedes' 2011 SLS AMG in his game. Before he delves into the possibility of the car appearing on the game's cover, he's shown with co-workers handling a box with three disc cases -- one blue, one red, one black. Though he makes it clear over the course of the clip that this isn't the final packaging, he doesn't exactly spell out what these mysterious cases might hold. Millions of cars? Top Gear episodes? Micro Machines?! Our best guess is that it's a Collector's Edition of some sort, though we'd love for such a thing to include a miniature SLS AMG (just sayin'!).
Getting back to the SLS AMG, Yamauchi says that the to-be-released car is in the running for a starring role on the game's cover. "The foremost reason is that the SLS AMG will probably be the most exciting car in the world when Gran Turismo 5 is released ... Also, in terms of styling and driving performance as well, it's probably the hottest car around right now," Yamauchi teases. We've asked Sony for details on the mysterious three-case box and will update this post when we hear more.
Update: Sony has responded by declining to comment. And now we play "The Waiting Game."
for the box id assume some sort of psp attachment, (to the TV) as i once read a while back, if u connect a PSP to GT5 on the PS3, the psp will act as a rear view mirror.Guess its a possibility, would be cool to stick a PSPgo (i say go cause its small) to the top of my flat screen while playing :D
right.....thats what it is...the Blu-ray disc is no longer suitable for PS3 games....so since GT5 is 138GBs of Data and the 200GB discs aren't out yet they had to use 3 50GB BDs to put GT5 on.......#SideEye
I was more interested in the video than how many disks there are going to be. The making of GT5 is definitly something I'm interested in watching, so I hope they include it in the game.
And I'd love to get a 3-disk special edition for this game, but there's gotta be one helluva lotta content to fill up 3 Blu-Ray disks.
I don't see what is so Mysterious... just looks like a double size box? Like they are including extra content of some sort.. What that content would be IS the mystery.. the box is just a box.. hehe.
I feel awesome now that Joystiq took a tip from me.Thanks for the ego boost, guys!My take: I'm predicting one of two major possibilities.1) Gameplay disc/Install disc/Extras disc (making of, et al)2) Full game disc/Disc with the entire soundtrack on it to copy over to your hard drive/Extras disc (making of, et al)
Maybe it's their concept of how to create the Collector's Edition. It doesn't matter, what matters is the video. I agree, it also blew me away. I'm more excited now to get my hands on Gran Turismo 5. Still playing Prologue though and it's doing a good job holding me over. I want to drive that SLS-AMG. Looks amazing. What's also newsworthy is that the SLS-AMG might be the GT5 cover.
It certainly looks like the game is pretty much finished. If I had to guess that's a special edition that includes either a making of documentary, soundtrack or maybe Prologue & HD concept if not GT4 or the PSP game. Maybe like a GT compilation like the god of war one.
It's just that from the video it seemed like they had an exclusive hands-on the car and I'm pretty sure that Poliphony Digital would never pick a car for its own game's cover if it was on its competitor's game.
Also, wth is up with the downvoting? Winterfang was polite and all (well... for a change. I guess you do deserve the backlash).
I expect good things when GT5 arrives. Kaz himself has acknowledged the competition the GT series now faces, so I fully expect him to deliver a virtual racing experience unlike any other.
As far as the three blu-ray discs are concerned, it's all speculation!
My guess is that this is a Collector's Edition or something. Disc 1 containing the whole game, Disc 2 containing some GTTV shows(Top Gear, D1GP shows), and maybe Disc 3 will be a "making of"/special features DVD.
Gawd, I've been waiting for this game for 5 years. Can't fucking wait! :D:D:D
some of the comments have nothing to do w/ the article , but we all like to throw something out there just to see who will comment first or discredit the comment .
am unique so why would i want anyone to be like me . for the record half the crap on this site or any other site is almost alway off topic . the reason why i say that is because i read all of the comments posted. not just the one that will make me sound like i know what am talking about. l like most people tend to do on this site or any other .
@ Igor) but forza is cared for by the millions & millions of Xbox 360 fans that have bought the game, if it had not been cared for why have they made a third game . :)
