Blood Energy Potion, from makers of Mana, goes in your body
While we'll admit to occasionally considering what a mana potion might taste like, we've never even briefly pondered guzzling a pint of human blood. We just can't B positive about the target market for Mana Energy Potion maker Harco's new drink: Blood Energy Potion, complete with IV bag-shaped bottle.Okay, fine, we guess we could allow fans of shows like True Blood to buy a bottle as a novelty in much the same way that we slapped on a fake mustache and ventured into our local Hot Topic to buy a single Mana. But if you happen to be in the demographic where both of these products appeal to you, you may want to invest in Joystiq Beverages' new "Drinking Alone Energy Potion." Adorably, the container is shaped like a whiskey bottle, because it is, in fact, whiskey. Sorry, didn't mean to gO negative.

No. It does not go in MY body.
iluvmyzune @ Oct 20th 2009 2:56PM
is it actually real blood???
Old Professor Zertoss @ Oct 20th 2009 2:59PM
Yes, it is actually real blood. Drinking it gives you its former owner's power.
Also AIDS.
Traceur_Ryuk [All Digital until December] (PSN: Ryuk_shinigami) @ Oct 20th 2009 3:24PM
@IlovemyZune: Are you being serious? Please, for my last hope in humanity, say no.

Hyperion45 @ Oct 20th 2009 9:25PM
My previous comment was supposed to be a pun... I guess I need to be less subtle.
Curse you extremely rare blood types!!!!!!!!!
That or nobody cares.
It's probably the latter.
Traceur_Ryuk [All Digital until December] (PSN: Ryuk_shinigami) @ Oct 20th 2009 2:36PM
Apparently mana energy potions tastes like generic Red Bull.
Traceur_Ryuk [All Digital until December] (PSN: Ryuk_shinigami) @ Oct 20th 2009 2:39PM
Well, at least I know this thing does.

I wish companies would stop marketing food/drinks towards fans/nerds based on stupid gimmicks.
Shmil @ Oct 20th 2009 3:11PM
To be fair though, companies will exploit every demographic possible with crappy gimmicks. We shouldn't take it personally. Though it's an incredibly stupid product. I can imagine the neo-vampire/gamer thirteen year olds will flock to things like this.
Miku @ Oct 20th 2009 3:17PM
I guess it's because I'm of legal drinking age that my first thought was "if I wanted to play vampire, couldn't I just drink red wine?"
And I agree with you, advertising agents will exploit anything they can. I don't like it then either.
captainprotonx @ Oct 20th 2009 2:39PM
That's foul.
Jon @ Oct 20th 2009 2:45PM
The nutritional content is very similar real blood. That is awesome :p livingwithbloodlust.com
Gamer4Life @ Oct 20th 2009 3:32PM
that's just a little disturbing.
John Perkins @ Oct 20th 2009 2:44PM
This looks very similar to the candy blood bags I've seen in drug stores for Halloween. Only with more lame.
TheE3Guy @ Oct 20th 2009 2:45PM
NEVER buy those mana health or energy potions, they're disgusting, I almost puked just from smelling them.
Aerothorn @ Oct 20th 2009 2:47PM
I like how it says "FOR DRINKING."
God forbid somebody accidentally hook this up to an IV.
Phizzy @ Oct 20th 2009 2:50PM
'gO negative' made me really angry. Don't stoop to such horrible puns.
the helvetica scenario @ Oct 20th 2009 2:53PM
You need the Hematophage perk to get the full effect however.

I could Bpositive ABOut this, but then I'd be as foolish as a Rhesus monkey. Not a chance that I'll be saying 'PleaseMa, I want this', no doubt.
Hardy @ Oct 20th 2009 3:21PM
I was totally going to buy this, but their site only ships to the US and not Canada. :(
I wasn't actually going to drink it. I collect interesting packaging.
blaine @ Oct 20th 2009 3:22PM
I was going to order a 4 pack for Halloween. Grand total with shipping: $24
$6 each? Talk about paying an arm and a leg for blood.
RudyHuxtable @ Oct 20th 2009 3:27PM
My inner goth is calling me from the 90s and says this is a good idea.
My current self planted firmly in 2009 says otherwise.
TRACE @ Oct 20th 2009 3:37PM

Necrotix @ Oct 20th 2009 3:46PM
But how would you milk the mosquitoes, haz they tiny teets?

whylekat @ Oct 20th 2009 5:08PM
Ok seriously WTF...
When I was growing up and loved metal and vampires and goth it was the furthest thing from cool!
Now there's a new vampire movie or tv show every month, a slew of books & products, all sorts of mainstream shit! What the hell?!
zenaxe @ Oct 20th 2009 5:37PM
We're doing it just piss you off.
Sora @ Oct 20th 2009 8:51PM
If you want to make yourself feel better, think of yourself as being ahead of your time. A pioneer in mainstream culture if you will.

Actually, there already IS an officially licensed True Blood drink, from the makers of Brawndo. No, really.
http://www.trubeverage.com/
Meh @ Oct 21st 2009 10:42AM
So they changed "True" to "Tru" so it will appeal to the Brawndo-drinking demographic?
Ryoga Vee @ Oct 21st 2009 3:46AM
I was lucky to test out this product a few months ago, yes, its good, very good.
Veetzs @ Oct 22nd 2009 12:07AM
* I'll just be off to film a zombie video, with "real" blood.
karis @ Nov 19th 2009 8:47AM
You can get this drink at The Geekest Link in the UK (I know loads of people have been wondering how to buy it overseas.
http://thegeekestlink.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=356
It's pretty cool stuff, but it's not what you might expect; it's not exactly thick (like you'd imagine blood to be), but more of a sweet fruity punch in a format that's only slightly thicker than coffee.
It's still insanely cool, though. Very high novelty value for the vampires this Christmas!
