I don't want another Wii. I'd be happy with another Gamecube... I used to be such a major Nintendo fanboy 'til Wii.

Instead of worrying about duct-taping more Gamecubes together, they should focus on taking advantage of the one that's already in there. There's no reason whatsoever for Wii games to not look better than Gamecube games.

I have a feeling its going to be cyclical, eventually, people will get tired of motion controls and again want to press the buttons to perform actions just like Grandpa used to do. I know I'd get tired of playing games with motion controls 24/7 where sometimes, I just want to press buttons, unleash the inner Homer Simpson within me.

The thing about motion controls is that you don't have to include them every game if the controller is designed correctly.

but bringing the Power Glove back would be a GOLD MIND....that is IF they make it thin, durable, and big enough to fit my hands

Hmm... at first, I was not looking forward to the Wii 2, simply because I didn't see where Nintendo could go that I would justify buying another system. If they simply pushed for better graphics, well, that's what my 360 is for. I wouldn't want it for that.

Now I'm actually a bit excited to see what Nintendo could come up with. Granted, I was slightly disappointed with the Wii, as the controller didn't turn out to be as immersive as I felt they portrayed it, but... well, technology has advanced a bit. At the very least, I wanna see what Nintendo is going to do with this. Probably to combat Natal.

I'm telling you, if the Wii 2 has 2 IR pointer and 2 analog sticks, that would revolutionize game controls in a big way. You could use the analogs to "look" and the IR/motion controls to move your arms. For the first time ever, your arms and your head wouldn't be locked in the same position! It would change our very existence, says I.

Natal isn't going to need combatting. It's just not an optimum solution that can be broadly applied to most or all genres, or merely be used as a traditional controller in a pinch. Something halfway between the PMC and the Wiimote + Nunchuk would be optimal. Somewhat better point tracking, better IR camera functionality, but with as many buttons as a GameCube controller

They will prob be aiming at competing with Natal. Sphere is a direct rip of the Wii's controls anyway,What Nintendo does with Wii motion plus takes Sony 2 dildo looking objects and a camera. Natal looks the most innovative at this point.

Motion controls are overrated in my opinion. I still don't think it's been implemented correctly (Wii, Natal, WandToy). I like to thinkg that we're seeing is a huge beta test for the next-next generation of consoles where it won't be such a novelty.

How about making them ergonomic? The wimote is a nightmare to hold and press buttons. They got too enamoured wit hthe idea that it was a Famicom controlller sideways, and forgot that 10 fingered humans have to use it.

The difference will be that Sony & MS won't abandon their core audience like Nintendo did by making their motion controls mandatory. They aren't ditching the traditional game pad anytime soon. Nintendo caught lightning in a bottle and now the others want in on motion but both will still co-exist unlike Wii. That's the difference.

If Sony goes motion only Ill quit gaming all together. Fuck that. The last thing I want to do is play Sigma or Demon Souls with gestures and motion. If motion controls don't make sense (like a lot of wii ones) then there is no need to include them. They still have some serious tweaking before the accuracy is there. Maybe Sony or MS can implement motion controls that work like they're supposed to from the start. Although Im not so sure ... See 6 axis ... Functioning motion controls will ever exist without more data than just two wands.

Those talking about a motion only future are either wii fanboys or delusional ... Or both. The motion controls would need dual analogues and buttons ... Then maybe.

I have an easier time envisioning head tracking or 3-D as standard features than motion.

Just my 2 cents

Mandatory? Both Mario Kart and SSBB had the motion controls as optional, and super paper mario basically didn't use them (did it use them at all?). Most companies are just too stupid to see that motion controls aren't necessary for everything on the wii.

There's a difference between mandatory and universal. Mandatory would mean "motion controls for all games," which Wii does not do. That would indeed be foolish, as you can't make something work if it isn't meant to. Universal, however, would mean "one controller to do it all," which the Wiimote does mostly do, or at least contribute to (outside the balance board, most peripherals require use of the Wiimote in some way, if only as the BlueTooth transmitter)

Deliberately splitting the market will hinder Sony and Microsoft from ever surpassing Nintendo, if they choose to go that route. It's the bridge games that are the real future anyway.
