@Mr. Khan

You are changing the argument now.

Deaftly originally said:
"I will not be buying another motion based system next time"

You replied:
"Have fun with PC gaming, then. That'll be all that's left by next gen, i think. Unless Sony and Microsoft don't like money."

Thats why I said Sony & MS wouldn't abandon their current controllers because their market and user base isn't interested in a motion based system. It's fine if they have it as a companion to the regular setup but not a system built around it like the Wii. As I intimated the Wii has had terrible execution in the motion department this generation in my opinion. I don't know that I've played a game that was better because of motion other than maybe the Wii sports titles.

If you want to change your tone to universal vs required it's an argument on semantics because your original comment insinuated that the only system that wouldn't be built around a motion setup would be the PC.

i certainly don't find these motion controls appealing.
i find them unappealing, inaccurate and frustrating.
If the next Nintendo console has motion controls, their not getting my 250 clams.
Apparently Nintendo and now Microsoft have lost sight of videogames.
Videogames are meant to be played while sitting on your ever increasing ass, relaxing and enjoying your self. If i want to move and sweat i'll go ride my bike or take a swim in the pool.

You sweat while playing, say, Mario Galaxy? Maybe you should hop on that bike a little more...

No jackass, you can sweat from playing many games on the Wii other than ones with tacked on motion control for no other reason than to say it had motion control, like Mario Galaxy (a great game, but the waggle controls were unnecessary).

Geez, Orion, did I hit a nerve? I can see breaking a sweat to a variation of Wii Fit or EA Active, but I don't think there are "many" Wii games that'll induce sweating. Unless you have clammy hands, I guess.

If you're not sweating while playing Wii Boxing UR DOIN' IT WRONG.

Seriously though, I agree with Lord HowItHurtz. Why do so many Wii games feel the need to include motion controls when it just isn't necessary? Also, I can't believe anyone feels like it's an acceptable way to play an FPS. The Wiimote is just not accurate enough for a game to require me to point it at the screen and try to hit something. It's like the pointer lags behind where I'm actually pointing, which is totally annoying. It's similar to when you're trying to play a game on an older PC and the mouse pointer can't keep up smoothly with your hand, it bugs the crap outta me.

The only games where I've actually really liked the motion controls is Wii Bowling, and to a slightly lesser extent, Golf.

Anyway, if all the major consoles that come out next generation try and force motion and camera controls down our throats, I'll take a serious look to see if any of them do offer the use of a controller only as an alternative. Otherwise, I very well might not be getting a console from the next gen and I'll just have to stick to my PC.

I can't see them forcing motion controls. They will want to keep all parties happy and offer controller and motion controller options, I'm sure.

WRE made a good comment earlier suggesting 2 controllers with analogs to control your movement and view while your arms are free to perform the actions. I think it's a great idea and would take the FPS genre to new heights if they pulled it off well.

I like motion controls when they are used appropriately. Bowling, archery, golf, etc., and light-gun shooters are great. Sure there are amazing games on the Wii that use the motion controls, like Mario Galaxy, but if that game was controlled by a standard controller, I don't think it would have taken anything away from how great the game was.

I actually prefer the IR pointer to analog sticks for FPSs. Pointing and turning are just more streamlined for me.

Does that make me a bad person?

Combining the Wii remote with Motion Plus? They should have done that 3 years ago. >_> That way all the waggle minigames would have less "waggle".

It's gonna take alot to coax two Wii consoles to mate and make the Wii 2.

I heard that the climate and season have to be just right to get the Alpha one in heat.

im all for a new wii as long as its got the guts to run really pretty games.

enough so that ninty can bring back the "NOW YOU'RE PLAYING WITH POWER!" slogan.

with the current system, the most fitting slogan is "Where's the beef?"

"IGN: When Wii launched, HDTVs weren't in high penetration, but they are now. Do you think your games would benefit from HD, and do you think gamers want to see your games in HD?

Miyamoto: I don't think there's anything wrong with pretty graphics. If I have a high resolution television, I'd like to play in high resolution as well. As we see the penetration increase we're going to see videogames, Nintendo games move in lock-step along with the technology. But what I don't think is particularly true is that the graphics make the game."

Yeah ive read that before, whats your point?

believe me, i love my wii, but it will definitely need more under the hood this next time around and the good thing is nintendo knows that. Im hoping for more processing and graphics rendering power this time, more storage space, etc. And im pretty confident they'll deliver.

but really, i just want them to bring the slogan back

Thanks for the heads up, Miyamoto. Looks like the next Nintendo system will be the first one I don't buy.

So sad to have to break the chain, though. :(
