Ever have a musician friend over to your house, only to find yourself ever-so-slightly embarrassed by the pile of fake instruments filling your den? Well, you should probably never let them catch you with the Altec Lansing Stage-Gig, a replica monitor meant to give guitar heroes the sense of a real rock show by blaring their audio straight up at them from the floor.
It's kind of a cute idea, but we're not sure we're willing to pay $99 to have our 5.1 audio replaced by a single Altec Lansing speaker. Sure, you could buy two and have a really inconvenient stereo setup, but we think it's safe to chalk up another victory for imagination.

Wow, I thought the Rock Band Stage Kit was silly (until I bought one at Gamestop for 30 bucks, and for that money it's a ton of fun). This is just ridiculous.
Stage floor monitors are a convenience for musicians during live performance. From experience, I can say they're a great help in that situation. But why anybody would choose to listen to game music coming from their feet is beyond me.

Points for creativity, but that's all it is.A better experience would probably be to use a small cardboard box and pretend it's a monitor. Maybe you could find a box for a CRT monitor and use that while all your drunken friends laugh at how hilarious you are.

The future of live shows:
Bands will be playing "Guitar Hero/Rock Band" versions of their own songs. Complete with giant LCD screen displaying their note-chart (red, green etc.) and star power.
If they fail the song....they get bottles and rocks thrown at them.

The point of a monitor is to have a speaker pointed at you when the rest of the speakers are pointed at the audience. Since you have plenty pointed at you, it doesn't make sense. As another commenter pointed out, it might be better to use a cardboard box prop or a dead stage monitor

Rock Band drums CAN get a little loud. Which is why I moved one of my surround sound speakers to a table next to the drums. I will come to your house and do this for you for half the cost of this floor monitor, as well as help you finish any beer in your fridge and five-star Margaritaville on Expert.
