Ever since Andrew Ryan decided to go out for that pack of smokes (our mom says he's coming back; just you wait!), there's been nobody to tend to the leaky pipes and roving packs of splicers in Rapture. Well, according to GameTrailers TV's Geoff Keighley, someone's finally decided to step in and assume the leadership role for BioShock 2, and we'll find out who on Thursday's episode.
In another tweet, Keighley promised plenty of "new single player info and footage" and even teased that the episode will also reveal new characters -- something we already knew was planned for the sequel. You can catch the special BioShock 2 episode this Thursday night, October 22 at 12:30 a.m. ET on Spike.

I'm with you WRE ... this game feels forced and more like a cash in ... maybe because Levine isn't involved but I'm also not excited in the least bit for a Bioshock sequel. The first one was so incredible that the second one can only disappoint. It's a shame they are even making this game considering the first one tied everything up perfectly.

You're not alone. I'm sure it will be a great game, but Bioshock is one of those games that feels like it doesn't need a sequel. If anything, the sequel should be a prequel that takes place during the civil war in rapture or whatever they said the multiplayer is based on.

Andrew Ryan will be in control. The Vita Chambers were DNA coded to resurrect Andrew Ryan and subsequently anyone who shared his DNA. That's why Fontaine chose Jack, Ryan's son, to brainwash and help take control of rapture and why you would be brought back to life after dying and splicers weren't.

Not quite, you have to be within distance of a Vita-Chamber for it to resurrect you and the one in Ryan's office was disabled.

That's what I thought since the beginning, but in that video they released a while ago (where the wall of crystals shatter and the big daddy goes underwater) Tennenbaum is speaking to you and guiding you. Although I'm not sure but I think they said that was some kind of demo and not actually part of the game/story? I don't know. Also, they could use that as "the twist" of this story, Tennenbaum helping you for some reason and in the end finding out she's actually who's in charge of all, BUT that'd be the same twist as the original, so they probably don't want to repeat that.

Considering the rest of the game seems like a half-assed rehash, it wouldn't surprise me.

I don't think I've ever seen sequel so hated before release, to a game that people loved so much.
Yeah, Ken Levine isn't heading the project, but the guy who created the best level in the first Bioshock is, so that should hopefully be a worthy fill-in.
So it added multiplayer in a game that was more about single player. You know what else added multiplayer to a game that was all about single player, story, and a cinematic feel? Uncharted 2. You know what multiplayer mode ended up being awesome? Uncharted 2.

It's interesting, isn't it?
I think the main difference is the story. At the end of Uncharted, you didn't think "Well, that's it for Nathan and company. I guess they'll take up knitting or something." You knew they'd set off to find some other highly dangerous situation to get into, of course. It has all the makings of a serial.
In BioShock, it felt like the story came to a satisfying ending (assuming you took the "good" ending as the real one--I could see the "bad" ending continuing more easily). Not only did we tie up the fate of our main character, but it felt like Rapture itself was pretty much over. The main architect was finished, the main villain was finished. Plus the whole place was leaking like a sieve, and when the city is underwater that means it doesn't have long.
Anyway, the feeling seems to be like one of those movies that does not really need a sequel, but the studio pushes for one anyway because they think it'll make money. And those sequels usually suck.
(I'm not saying that I think BioShock 2 will necessarily suck, only trying to explain the curious lack of enthusiasm for the sequel.)

Yes, it's weird.
What I find weirdest about it is that you went and bought a game that you had already determined that you hated. Have you ever considered the possibility that you have multiple personalities?
If not, you should go get some. They're awesome, and they really keep your friends and family guessing.

Considering the PS3 version was the definitive version with more content and improved visuals it makes no sense what-so-ever.
