Prison Break game screens unfold blueprint for escapism
Remember that show Prison Break? Yeah, from like the mid-Aughts or whatever. Anyway, Zootfly is making it into a video game. Today, the game's publisher, Deep Silver, released a batch of screenshots and reiterated the plot as follows:
"The protagonist of the Prison Break game is Company agent Tom Paxton. He is sent to the Fox River State Penitentiary to find out why Michael Scofield (the hero of the TV series), a man without a previous criminal record, became a bank robber. The storyline runs parallel to the first season of Prison Break: Paxton encounters several characters from the series and experiences key events from his own perspective."
But you see, we believe the screens are hinting at a far different plot -- a plot that has to be exposed. Follow along as we guide you through the (totally unofficial -- like, we made it up) blueprint for a Prison Break game ...

This will be the Greatest Game Ever... In Bizzarro World.
Phillip @ Oct 21st 2009 6:07PM
Greater than the "Deadliest Catch" game?
Sion @ Oct 21st 2009 7:27PM
lol Funny I saw the case at GameStop earlier today and wondered who's Bright Idea was it to make that game.
PedoJokerBear [Planeteer | Power of Gall Bladder] @ Oct 21st 2009 5:12PM
will it come out with homeboys from outer space?
President Taco @ Oct 21st 2009 5:13PM
License games are funny. Horrible show too....
kentuckyfried @ Oct 21st 2009 5:15PM
Awesome.
Prison Break's Season 1 was great. It's the seasons after that which were horrible.
It'll be interesting to see how this plays out and if it's any good. If Rocksteady can pull off a wonderful Batman game, I have to believe that somebody can pull off a Prison Break title.
MrAlex @ Oct 21st 2009 6:09PM
I agree, I'd cut season 2 some slack because it didn't get too ridiculous, but three and four were unbearably OTT
kentuckyfried @ Oct 21st 2009 6:41PM
The whole series is purely for popcorn entertainment anyhow.
Michael's references to civil engineering were completely nonsensical. The critical mode for columns is compressive strength and buckling, not shear. lol.
ximena79 @ Oct 21st 2009 8:18PM
@kentuckyfried what are you talking about season 4 was awesome(besides the ending)
TRON.dll @ Oct 21st 2009 5:18PM
What happened to Zootfly's Mr. T/Will Wright killing Nazis in South America game?
Eric @ Oct 21st 2009 5:20PM
Who green lights this shit. Really does anyone want to play a based off a crappy tv show.
Michael Scoffield @ Oct 21st 2009 8:39PM
yes
Logruschaos @ Oct 21st 2009 5:33PM
I loved the show (All seasons plus movie thing), and I am very excited for this game. I hope it turns out well.
Andy @ Oct 21st 2009 5:44PM
Season 1 and 2 were amazing, let's hope the game sticks to those and ends it at the end of season 2, with the story ending good there instead of continuing on to seasons 3 and 4 which were crap compared to 1 and 2, 4 was better than 3, which was horrible, but both suck compared to the awesomeness that was seasons 1 and 2.
kacex @ Oct 21st 2009 5:50PM
Agreed
Brad4815 @ Oct 21st 2009 5:49PM
Sounds.... Interesting, I guess. The first season was great, but it went way downhill by the middle of season 2.
Me @ Oct 21st 2009 5:50PM
The prison break formula is as follows:
1. have plan
2.plan goes wrong
3. loved one gets held hostage
4. repeat

Omg this looks like so many different types of "terrible" ... My mind is spinning right now.
green11420 @ Oct 21st 2009 6:08PM
I still want this. I can't wait. Should be fun.
tsoul @ Oct 21st 2009 6:09PM
Andy Dufresne's prison escape is by far a much better storyline...
Unplugged @ Oct 21st 2009 9:14PM
It is much a better story, but there would be almost no interesting gameplay in a Shawshank Redemption game.
1. Think about killing your wife but pussy out and get blamed for her death anyway
2. Go to jail
3. GET RAPED
4. Meet Morgan Freeman
5. Polish rocks
6. Dig a hole in your wall every night for 20 something years
7. Start a library
8. Do everyone's taxes
9. Crawl through a sewer drain to escape
10. Go to Zihuatanejo, Mexico and build a boat with Morgan Freeman
11. GAME OVER

99% of their viewers wouldn't know or care about things like this, as long as it *sounds* realistic enough I don't complain.
kentuckyfried @ Oct 21st 2009 6:40PM
damnit, joystiq's comment system is garbage.
Big D. @ Oct 21st 2009 6:50PM
Prison Break season 1 and 2 were awesome, 3 got screwed because of the writer's strike and 4 was a nice way to end it but 3 and 4 could have been a lot better. This game looks awesome though. Any word on when it comes out?
Bri @ Oct 21st 2009 10:06PM
huge fan of the show, one of the only ones i actually watched. realistic or not. it IS tv, after all.
and have been awaiting this game since word of it came out late last yr or early this, whenever it was.
i'm a fanboy of things i like, else i wouldnt be on this site to begin with. so sign me up for this game already.
Bri @ Oct 21st 2009 10:08PM
would also be nice if Sarah Tancreadi makes an appearance ;)
Fanandualum @ Oct 22nd 2009 12:40AM
LOL, on picture 8 where you get the sky view from fox river penitentiary it looks like joliet is a huge and vibrant city... but i live down the street from fox river and its just not like that.
on a related note-they have made fox river a great tourist attraction YOU should come visit, the locals are friendly : )

It's running about 5 years behind schedule, but isn't THIS the kind of game 3rd parties should be putting on the Wii? Movie/Tv tie-ins with mainstram appeal?
