Spare some coin, get Assassin's Creed for $5 on Steam 'til Thursday

Before you purchase Assassin's Creed: Director's Cut Edition (now with more missions, etc.!), why not stop by that poor chap on the street corner and send $5 his way? Think of it not only as a magnanimous gesture, but as an act of contrition -- because you just paid the same amount to repeatedly stab people like him as they constantly harass you because you're just trying to follow this guy and you don't have any money anyway and why won't they just stop bothering you man this is so annoying no means no don't you get it.
[Thanks, Astroblack]

Engerz @ Oct 21st 2009 6:26PM
Sweet!
But chances are my PC can't run it. Still, I'll buy it to have it and play it once I upgrade.
Ordeith @ Oct 21st 2009 6:34PM
Crap, spent my $5 on World of Goo.

Does AC on the PC have mods or anything?
I've got it on Xbox and, while tempting, I can't see much reason to get it on PC
RKN @ Oct 21st 2009 7:11PM
It does have some extra missions. Surprising Ubisoft decided to give the PC this extra considering they won't give the PC version of Prince of Persia the "Epilouge" DLC the console versions have.

Yeah, instead of 3 different types of 'information gathering' activities, you have 7, which really helps with the monotony.
Also it has DX10 features and looks much better than the 360 version when maxed out. Unfortunately it's also quite a resource hog too.
Smoke_me_a_Kipper @ Oct 21st 2009 6:53PM
Picked this up last night, not a small download 9GB. Hell of a deal.
Uncontrol @ Oct 21st 2009 7:29PM

rkrocks123 @ Oct 21st 2009 9:13PM
Someone's never played Assassin's Creed...
MLWW @ Oct 21st 2009 7:49PM
Wanna know what's even more awesome?
Europe isn't getting this sale at all!
It's still showing at €29,99 for me on Steam -_-
emirabal @ Oct 21st 2009 7:53PM
Spare some coin, i had almost forgotten about those annoying people. I assassinated a few of them, uh oh, is that some signs into my dark side
Metal Gear!? @ Oct 21st 2009 9:05PM
MORE missions!!! That game was such an over-hyped piece of ass, I didn't even want to finish what was there when I wasted my time on it for the 360. I played it with a free rental and I still felt ripped off.
BananaBoat @ Oct 21st 2009 9:19PM
Thanks for the information. I've been meaning to finish Assassins Creed, and for five dollars, I might as well own it instead of renting it again. This will be a good refresher before Assassins Creed 2 comes out. Now I just have to hope that my machine is capable of running AC (it runs Crysis, so I'm hoping, though I've heard bad things about how AC runs on the PC).
So, what extras do you get with the directors cut edition anyway? Other than new missions, obviously.

When I saw this, I was like "AW SWEET! I LOVE STEAM'S DEALS."
Then I realized that I own Assassin's Creed on Xbox and I'm only about 2 hours in to it and I have totally forgot everything in the story that I've done...
Am I really that big of a sucker for a deal?
Ritz @ Oct 22nd 2009 12:50AM
Careful. $5 isn't much, but unless you have a decent gaming rig, you should just rent it for the 360. I purchased the game on D2D for $5 and almost finished, but the game freezes randomly on me all the time and the framerate isn't stellar. And I'm running an Intel Core i7 with a new ATI 5850. Playable, fun, but you'd probably get a better experience on the 360 here.

*Pops to yougamers to check out if pc can run this game*
....
*cries*
So it looks like i still won't get a chance to experience the 17 clicks to exit the game. That feature sounded awesome!
+SAM+ @ Oct 22nd 2009 8:44AM
I have this game already on PS3 and 360, because it's that fucking cool.
Was gonna get it this cheap for PC too, checked the Steam Store (UK) and it's still £19.99!!
When like, I can buy it new on Amazon for a tenner, with a box manual etc.
wtf steam prices
Zulu Edison @ Oct 22nd 2009 5:08PM
Well...
I tried to buy this and the first two times I tried to purchase it steam failed...
and the third time the price was back up at $19.99
and after reading these comments I realize I probably won't be able to run it on this comp anyway, so oh well I guess.
kal326 @ Oct 22nd 2009 10:38PM
Well too bad I saw this on Thursday, its back to $19.99 now....oh well.
