Curious whether Army of Two: The 40th Day's co-op "Extraction Mode" makes pre-ordering the game (thereby getting a one-month head-start with the new game mode) worthwhile? We suggest checking out the first glimpses of the co-op offering in the video above. Following in the vein of Horde Mode or Firefight, Extraction pits four players up against wave after wave of masked, gun-toting enemies as they move from checkpoint to checkpoint, attempting to escape the warzone. Teamwork is encouraged -- apparently, it's better to act as an Army of Four rather than Four Armies of One.
Remember, one month after the game launches on Jan. 12, Extraction Mode will be free to download for anyone who didn't pre-order the title. This head-start may be enough to get your ire up, but can't we just be grateful they're not charging for this extra content? C'mon, we're already drowning in petitions over here.

Two groups of two competing while ai tried to combat against each group was pretty cool. I think it made for a better experience, since two on two without ai would have felt a bit empty. I don't think it was perfect, but I wouldn't say it was "really messed up."

This pre-order bonus thing is getting ridiculous. Now they're withholding content for a month to people who buy the game at a regular store instead of Gamestop? This shit's gotta stop. If you buy the game, you should get the full game from day one. It's one thing to give goodies if you pre-order, but don't fuckt with the game by adding or withholding game content.

Um quit your whining, technically you are getting the full game. You are getting a complete story with multiplayer included. They are just including a perk for those that preorder it, does it ruin the game? No, it doesn't! You'll just have to wait for the mode a bit, and honestly if you didn't preorder it, then that might mean you don't plan on picking it up immediately. So if a person doesn't plan on that, then it is not a problem in regards to getting the mode a month later.

How does multiplayer work for Ao2? Do you still have the aggro meter?
I do like this idea though. Preorder the game, get some (useful) bonus content, and then release it to everyone later on. They still get preorders if people are keen on the title, and if it's well done, people pick it up later and get all the features.

Are you crazy? Give the people who pre-order a soundtrack CD, an art book, a figurine, a USB memory stick with a game character on it, greeting cards, a differnt cover, whatever.

I don't think the video shows MP versus. It's just 4p vs an ever-increasing horde. I don't see why aggro wouldn't work.

If the alternative is charging everyone a month or two down the road for it, I'm down with giving people who preorder a bit extra. You wouldn't get everything right away, but you will (for free) in a month or two.

Why do people think that if one mode is released a month later, the game isn't classified as "full?" You've got your single player game included multiplayer modes, think of this mode as an extra. It didn't need to be included, but they did it anyway. You should be grateful that it's free, unlike other companies that may have charged for such a thing. I'm not saying it doesn't suck for those that don't preorder it, but it could be a lot worse.

They *didn't* fuck with the game. This mode is *not* integral to the game. It's just a cool multiplayer mode that has absolutely nothing to do with the actual campaign. They're including it as an incentive to get people to pre-order, and then releasing to the general population 1 month after launch. FOR FREE!!!!
