Dragon Age: Origins slaying PS3 on November 17 [update]

Original: Bioware is set to unleash Dragon Age: Origins on Xbox 360 and PC on November 3 (November 6 in Europe), but PS3 players will have to wait just a bit longer. EA's David Silverman confirmed to Joystiq at a recent NYC EA event that the PS3 version would release on November 17, which is in line with the "later in November" designation EA submitted when the game was delayed in August. While retailers (see: GameStop, Amazon and Best Buy) have been listing November 17 as the date for the PS3 version, as recent as October 13 -- the date of the latest Dragon Age press release -- EA was sticking with "later in November." As for the game's official website, well, it seems to insist that November 3 is the date for all platforms. Yeah, we don't blame you if you're feeling confused.
Today, Joystiq can officially confirm November 17 as the date for the PS3 version of Dragon Age: Origins. When asked what has caused the minor delay, Silverman told us Bioware "wanted more time to get [the] PS3 [version] to 'Bioware standards.'"
We're not sure what those two weeks will do for the game, but while you're waiting, why not earn yourself some phat loot? Just sayin' ...

Pretty much with multiplatform games, the PS3 or PC versions get delayed, recently, its the PC, the PS3, much less.

This is good news. I think developers should always do this when having issues developing on PS3. I'm glad they are spending more time on the PS3 so that we don't get some half-assed version of the game. As i was told yesterday by some people, few PS3 games look worse than the Xbox version. I believe this is because they just want push the game out there, get their money, and a forum full of complaints. Good job Bioware.

Playing Demon's Souls has put in such an RPG/Dungeon Crawl mood.
Leif Longbottom @ Oct 23rd 2009 10:18AM
Demon's Souls has got me in the dungeon crawling mood but at this point I don't even think I'll get around to Dragon Age until next year.
When I'm ready to switch it up, at that point, I'll probably jump onto Assassin's Creed.
Pantsparty @ Oct 22nd 2009 6:39PM
I'm not really understanding how 7 days can improve your game a whole lot. I mean, isn't like half the team going to be doing DLC and/or releasing that DLC?
mywhitenoise @ Oct 22nd 2009 6:40PM
10 days, brother. Those extra 3 days will make a world of difference.
Sly @ Oct 22nd 2009 6:42PM
yeah, it really doesn't seem like any time at all. it's strange...
Pantsparty @ Oct 22nd 2009 6:44PM
Sarcasm?

example of what can get done in 10 days with resources:
10 days x 100 employees x 10 hour work days = 10,000 total work hours completed in 10 days time..
now cant something get done in 10,000 work hours ?
now they could have only had 10 people working on this, but there could have been 1000 also.
Mats @ Oct 22nd 2009 7:11PM
You don't think they work weekends when they are on a tight deadline?
WiiFTW @ Oct 22nd 2009 7:12PM
Great job with the simple multiplication. The real question is: how much time is effectively being used by releasing the game a couple weeks later RELATIVE TO the time spent on this game up to this point? Another question is: could Bioware optimize sales/release date/review scores by releasing a bit earlier and patching very early?
sk8monroe81 (PSN--XBL) @ Oct 22nd 2009 9:04PM
wiifit- you are welcome. but simple math is needed when you see a comment like this : ''im not really understanding how 7 days can improve your game a whole lot. '
that math was wrong by itself as the game is releasing 2 weeks later, not 7 days.
so something so simple might not be so simple to others.
many people do not realize that a game company can easily pump out 10,000 hours of labor in 1 week, which = a lot of production if they want...
i mean all it says to me is that there were some kinks to work out in the ps3 version of the game, and/or they wanted to make it look as good as the 360 version. Why would they release a sub-par version first ? this is what many games should have done if the ps3 version was not the same as the 360 version because it was easier to make or whatever.
Eden Soto @ Oct 22nd 2009 6:53PM
I think it had something to do with the fact that PS3 was getting Uncharted 2 too close to the 360 and PC release date so they figured they'd give people enough time to finish that game before looking to see what's next.
That's my opinion, but at the same time, I won't be done with Demon's Souls for quite some time, so Dragon Age is going to have to wait.
Shadowbender (Nelson Is Behind You) @ Oct 22nd 2009 6:47PM
November 17...Assassins Creed 2, Left 4 Dead 2...and now this. Bad move EA? I would say so. Those are some major titles you're going up against...Risky business.
HardBoiled2009 @ Oct 22nd 2009 6:54PM
L4D 2 is nothing too me as i don't game on PC and my 360 got packed away soon as i got my PS3. Assassins Creed 2 is MEH too me cause the 1st one i didn't care for so much. Dragon Orgins too me looks like a AWESOME Game and i can't wait to hear people say about it !
mywhitenoise @ Oct 22nd 2009 6:59PM
All those EA games are pretty "meh".
After buying Uncharted last week, Tekken, Ratchet, and maybe Demon's Souls are the only games Im getting for the rest of the year.
MC Double Def DP @ Oct 22nd 2009 6:52PM
Delaystation strikes again! I keeeed I keeeed! more time to play Uncharted 2 anyways.
HardBoiled2009 @ Oct 22nd 2009 7:06PM
from reading your comment a huge part of me wants too see.... ok before anyone goes voting me down and says i'm trying to start a flame war cause i'm not but i'l come out and say it.... A huge part of me wishes Sprinkles came in the thread and started stuff i really need a good laugh right now like the one i had last night when i saw RKN VS Sprinkles in the borderlands thread cause Sprinkles Threads always make me laugh
** SIGH **
@MC Double Def DP
just uncharted 2 ? what about Borderlands or do not care about that game ? i go it the day of release and Like it alot !
mywhitenoise @ Oct 22nd 2009 7:17PM
"what about Borderlands or do not care about that game ? i go it the day of release and Like it alot ! "
Didn't that game only come out 2 days ago? Do you think you'd have less credibility if you had said you got the game yesterday or today? 2 days, dude, 2 days.
MC Double Def DP @ Oct 22nd 2009 11:49PM
Borderlands is just dandy, and also on 360 & PC & why am I even bothering?
RKN @ Oct 23rd 2009 2:47AM
Why do I waste my precious gaming time on that Sprinkles, that cocksucking monkey?
Mats @ Oct 22nd 2009 7:09PM
Will do? More like Has done. Certification takes 3 weeks, printing and shipping takes a while as well. This game must have gone gold a while back.
So the question should be, what did BioWare manage to do with 2 more weeks of polish? Would they have used 3 weeks if they needed it? After all, if the date was "later november" they could have used 3 weeks if that was needed.
shadowhowl1900 @ Oct 22nd 2009 7:47PM
why cant they just release both at the same time?
tykjen @ Oct 22nd 2009 8:47PM
Im so fine with Demons Souls at the moment..omfg yes its so godamn good, I wont have a problem skipping Dragon Age, also its a big shame it hasnt got multiplayer.
iHavepants {SteamPSN: Arkanti} @ Oct 22nd 2009 9:12PM
They're completely different games.
Kaio @ Oct 22nd 2009 8:42PM
Glad they're taking the time to make the game equal or possibly..... better.
dmd @ Oct 22nd 2009 10:08PM
Oh well... if they need more time to get the PS3 version to 'Bioware standards.' I'm okay with it. Better a minor delay than a crapy port. Although I'm getting pretty tired of this tendency developers have to always put the 360 above the PS3. Its like being the last boy chosen for the soccer time all over again.
tykjen @ Oct 25th 2009 6:06PM
sure as hell hope so, cause it really doesent look like it.
player66 @ Oct 23rd 2009 2:05PM
Oops! They just announced it will release day-and-date with the PC and 360 versions on Nov. 3rd.
Burn.
arrrgh @ Oct 23rd 2009 2:19PM
I can't seem to find anything that excites me about demon's souls OR dragon age origins :( They both look very mediocre at best. just IMO
