We're currently experiencing a kind of Deja Vu that the protagonist of the time-traveling adventure title, Shadow of Destiny, would be quite familiar with. See, Konami just sent in a press release announcing that a PSP version of the aforementioned game would be coming stateside in 2010. We could've sworn that we already knew about the re-release of this cult classic -- perhaps someone's just changed something in the Matrix. Then again, maybe it's because the ESRB rated the PSP port almost three months ago. Yeah, that's probably it.
The plot of Shadow of Destiny is too complex for us to possibly relate to newcomers in any sensible fashion. Instead, we'll just say it's like Groundhog Day -- particularly the part where Bill Murray dies over and over again.

What a weird game to port.
It's a first gen PS2 game that borders on DC quality. And judging by the video, nothing has been changed except the aspect ratio.

I'm intrigued. I did not see how the gameplay will work. Is this Shenmue style?

This is one of the few games I've played that does multiple endings perfectly. There are I believe 6 different endings, and you learn something in each ending that you don't in the others. It's short (4 hours on first playthrough, 1-2 skipping cutscenes on subsequent), and has enough hidden stuff and alternate solutions to make it interesting to replay.
The game itself plays more like an interactive movie—it looks like Shenmue, but most of the time you're running from one plot point to the next. There are puzzles (nothing too challenging) and the constant threat that your time of death will arrive in the present while you're running around in the past—the only way you can actually lose the game. This sort of game usually wouldn't work, but the story is interesting enough in itself to carry it. I highly recommend it.

You can also lose by touching yourself. There are points in the game where Eike can accidentally run into himself, or touch the shoulder of himself while he's sleeping. Not many of those, but they're entertaining enough.

Oh wow, and looking at the trailer, they changed the voice-acting. It was a mixed bag in the original release, but Eike and Homunculus both sound noticeably worse here on some lines.

All of the voices sound different from the original.... Glad I have the ps2 version (which I still play) But this is great for anyone who hasn't played it or heard of it before... great game that was hard to come by back in the day.

Eike is Yuri Lowenthal, who I normally like, but...Eike isn't the RPG action hero type he's used to playing, so this really isn't that good. I'm okay with their choice for Homunculus, but I really adored his voice in the original...at least some of the others sound a bit less soulless than they used to?

more like an unfunny but opinionated play on the name. I personally i have a feeling its going to flop. Not quite epic fail like Virtual boy or Ngage, just unsuccessful.

I hope the loading times are better than the PS2 version.
