The issue with some people getting slow downloads on PSN has been around since the beginning, but it definitely seems less prevalent these days. Oddly enough, many people can actually get around the speed by running the connection through a proxy. And I'm not talking about an external proxy, you can just bounce it off a computer on your home LAN. See here:

http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=79&threadid=2284460

I don't know why this works, but I can confirm it does. A long while ago I had slow downloads... we're talking maybe 7-10s second to download 1 MB. The using Privoxy on one of my computers and ran my PS3's connection through that and my speeds jumped to 1-2 MB per second. Yes, 10-20x faster... basically the maximum of my internet connection. The main drawback is that some online games may not connect properly this way. So I'd just run through the proxy when I wanted to download a bunch of stuff and then turn it off at all other times. Once you enter a proxy the PS3 will save the setting for future use. So all you have to do is go in and check the setting to use the proxy, you don't have to re-enter the IP or anything.

Anyway, I did this for a few months and one day I forgot to turn on the proxy before I started a download and noticed my speeds were fast. I'm, not sure what changed, but now my download speeds are maxed out without the proxy.

By the way here's an update on the demo. Started download at 7:30 eastern time last night, it finished 12:30.

5 fucking hours to download a 2.4 GB demo. Again, it took me about 45 minutes to download a 6.4 GB game on my 360, which uses the same wireless connection and speed that my ps3 does and the ps3 is only 2 feet away from the 360 so it's not a distance problem.

then how about they post the results instead of just saying "it was the same. deal with it."? they easily could have made the playing field more even and less prone to error.

Some good demos and the Uncharted 2 comic should be cool. I started download this stuff but my PS3 just started freezing non-stop! In the XMB too, just checking messages and my PS3 freezes out of no where. Happened 3 times in the last 5 minutes. Im worried. D:

Ridiculous pricing on the Oddworld games. I would have bought both if they were 5.99 each. Not 10 bucks a piece for a PS1 game I already owned. Downloading the R&C demo now.

That's what I thought too. How did they hit the $9.99 pricing tier? I mean Oddworld is awesome and all but not MGS or FFIV awesome.

Interesting, they brought back the Lumines holiday pack. Of corse, it cost $2.49 instead of free when they put it up last year... Good thing I got it then. :D

That also seems like a good indicator that some holiday LBP DLC may be rereleased. I missed the pumpkin head costume cause they pulled it out a week earlier then they said they would >_>

Anyone tried out Trine yet?
Looks fun!
But I need an opinion before I buy though.

I enjoyed it quite a bit on the PC. For single-player mode there isn't a lot of replay value (unless you start off on Easy I suppose) but the mechanics are creative and the levels are fun. The final level is sick, too :) It becomes a totally different experience in cooperative multi-player mode, so if you have a friend who would get a kick out of a puzzle-action-platformer, make sure to have them join you!

Hah, I actually am playing Uncharted on Crushing now. Eerie.

Still, I'm not sure if Trine is worth 20 bucks. It looks sort of interesting, but I can't really tell if it's more or less a full game like Shadow Complex or not. If anyone's played it, I'd appreciate your input. (and this is where The Bad Touch starts)

It's really good if you like Metroid. It's less of an "homage" and more of a straight-up ripoff, but a really fun one at that.

I've got Ratchet coming on Tuesday (Thanks, Sony for the $5 off amazon dealy!) and already have Critter Crunch (awesome, try it!), so no need to demo either of those.

Trine's going to have to wait a bit until I read what some users here have to say. $20 is well outside impulse-buy range for PSN stuff.

I downloaded Trine yesterday. And honestly? Loving the physics involved. It's not as 3-d as ICO but just the puzzle mechanics alone involving the physics is really interesting.

For example, you actually have to be careful about how trying to grab boxes near the c.g., or else they'll tend to rotate, making it hard to place that box on top of other boxes. Another cool thing is that you don't necessarily have to take a single path in order to grab the colored vials (I don't even know what they're for, the green ones, but I assume they're important).

The only downside in my 20 minute sample is that there's not enough "float" in the characters jumps, which means jumps must be planned just right otherwise you end up having to repeat some of the puzzle elements over again. this might get annoying for some.
