hmmm...well, not sure if you could do this - but it may be possible to get the 2 games +1 free deal over a couple times (or at different stores) - keep the "free" one, sell the other 2 shrink-wrapped on ebay for new*

if you do it once, you are left with the 120 back and a free game.

No because the 3rd game is the free one. So, if you got that gift card then you could buy anything and not just games with it. You still have $120 worth of games and now you have an additional $60 at your disposal. I did it when Target had their Buy 2 Get 1 sale on Wii games last Christmas ... ended up buying a new PS3 game for $10.

You can also sell the games online for new or a little below new and get a game for a few bucks if not free.

The only problem with the Wal-Mart thing is they now limit people to like 2 or 3 returns a year without a receipt. So, you might need that return for real because you lost a legitimate receipt.

Personally I don't see a problem with this. You aren't robbing anyone because you are just exchanging unopened merchandise for a gift card that guarantess you spend the value of said product in their store. They aren't losing anything.

How is it stupid? You can save the gift card and get mw2 instead of the 3rd free game you really didn't want.

Ooh I think I'll pick up Uncharted 2 and Ratchet. Don't know what to pick for the third game, though... Borderlands or Fallout 3 GotY?

My vote is Borderlands - I'm assuming Fo3 will be the first to go down in price and you should be able to grab a good used copy off ebay in the near future.

Best Buy is my main gaming shop. I love their Gamer's Club program.

Unfortunately I can't think of 3 games to buy right now.

For me it's the opposite. The sale comes too late and I've already bought the games I want (Brutal Legend, Beatles Rock Band)

I wish this sale went on in mid-November. A whole slew of games are coming out, and this deal would be perfect.

Best Buy has a 30 day return policy. Just buy 3 games and wait until mid november and exchange them for the ones you want. Thats what I'm doing for Assassins Creed 2 & Modern Warfare 2.

I think what I'm going to do is get Tekken 6, Ratchet And Clank Future & Borderlands ... then, don't open two of them (I'll decide which one to keep) and exchange them for Modern Warfare 2 & Assassins Creed 2 a few weeks later. That way I get the three games I want the rest of the year anyway. I just need to decide what that final game is between Borderlands, Tekken 6, R&C F ACiT, New Super Mario Bros Wii & the God Of War compilation.

I'm leaning towards Ratchet And Clank Future but the metacritic reviews have me a little worried that there isn't going to be much new content there. Maybe there is a game I'm forgetting about ... would obviously love to get forza 3 but not sure I'm going to buy a 360 right now with Christmas around the corner.

"and exchange them for Modern Warfare 2 & Assassins Creed 2 a few weeks later."

This is a great idea, except if it's a situation like TRU where the popular titles, they keep in sufficiently low numbers such that you can do the switchoff.

Best Buy may be not as bad though, so maybe it'll work out.

The sale itself will be over by the time those big time games come out. All you have to do is get two placeholder games and exchange them when the others release. It's never been an issue in the past for me.

According to posts at Cheapassgamer, if you buy 3 $60 games the receipt will show each ringing up at 40/40/40. Apparently works the same with gift receipts. So you could return the games you don't want but you will end up with only $40 in credit for each.

One post is below:

"Best Buy is a lot smarter about B2G1 sales than TRU is, so the tricks with gift receipts and placeholders won't work.

The receipt will show the return value for each item, and it'll be 1/3rd of the total pre-tax price. Placeholders won't be worth the full value of the game, so it won't work for future purchases as even exchanges.

TRU does it as $60 / $60 / $0, BB will do it as $40 / $40 / $40."

This would ordinarily be a great sale except that I have no self-restraint on spending money.

I suppose this lets me buy duplicates for online co-op stuff like Borderlands, MUA2 for the ps3 (I have both for the 360 right now).

Not really too excited about MUA2, but Borderlands would definitely be nice to be able to play with both communities. Still a bit of a luxury though.

Would DJ Hero count as one of the 2 games you need to buy? The "59.99 and less" line confused me..

So is this under "Equal or Lesser Value?" It doesn't say so on the ad, and I'm wondering if I can get two $40 games and then sneak in a $60 game as my third.
