Rumor: New Left 4 Dead 2 CG trailer leaked, epic

After learning about the final two campaigns in Left 4 Dead 2, we now have a brand new trailer, either via legitimate leak or sneaky viral marketing. Either way, Valve seems intent on impressing us.

Awesomeness may not be something that can be quantified in traditional units of measurement [these come close -- Ed.], but we're prepared to say that this Left 4 Dead 2 trailer contains at least 8 quarts of it. That's enough for the whole Little League team -- which, incidentally, shouldn't be anywhere near Left 4 Dead 2. It's rated M, you know. The rest of you, however, should watch it, and watch it hard.

Warning: Minor plot spoilers, most of which involve killing zombies.

you know i watched this trailer and thought it was good, but then i was hit with a major case of Deja Vu. The commercials and trailers for the first game made it seem epic as hell, but then when i got it it turned out to be absolutely nothing special. Just a run of the mill shooter with boring and repetitive gameplay, and not enough content. Also all of these cinematics? they are just fluff, there is zero gameplay in this trailer and im sure that this game is going to suck just as hard as the first one.

Just because the way he said stuff wasn't "nice" doesn't mean you should disregard the points he makes.
There is indeed no gameplay on this trailer, awesome as it is, which means this has nothing to do with gameplay.

But arf! You see, no one cares. We've seen the gameplay 100 times over! I wouldn't buy Tekken 6 because it has an awesome ad campaign, because I know it sucks (sorry fighting fans), but I know this game will be good and the trailer simply swayed me. So, would you kindly stfu?

From a CG video with no gameplay...really. In that case Onimusha 3 should have been Game of the Century... The opening CG video was amazing.

Because this is what L4D1 could've been. Just look at TF2, it's $20 and see how much free DLC's been added to it.

I think if Left 4 Dead was one big continuous story I would have liked it more. There is just something about it that I don't like. I may pick this up with some extra cash around Christmas after playing my friend's copy. I do have to admit though, that was an awesome trailer. Valve knows how to make cinematics.

If you play with the developer commentary, they say that the campaigns were originally tied together and happened one after another, but for reasons I forgot it didn't end up working very well. They also wanted anyone to be able to jump in on any campaign and get as good as an experience as someone starting with no mercy and going through all of them.

They made a campaign called crash course, which is right after the Evac heli comes to pick them up from the hospital. It crashes and you need to make your way to a 'bad ass truck' and leave. That might be a plot in between mercy and death toll, Or Harvest

I found Left 4 Dead's minimalist story perfect. They knew gamers were going to be playing the same levels over and over again and didn't want to sit through or even skip cutscenes and scripted events. Plus it made the game make more sense. In a zombie apocalypse the probability of survivors knowing whats going on are really low.

There are zombies and they want to kill you. Thats all the game needed and thats all the game had.
