Stoked: Big Air Edition arriving Nov. 24 for $39.99
As Bongfish looked to the feedback from fans and as its plans for enhancing the game became more and more ambitious, the developer chose to re-release the game in a kind of "director's cut," as opposed to just patching the original game. Putz also said that since the original released in February, the retail climate wasn't as kind as it is, say, during the holidays -- hence Big Air Edition's outing on November 24.
In the new version, Putz says gamers will have access to "all new race challenges, big air/slopestyle events, speedier gameplay, new lighting and a more accommodating learning curve that removes the previous edition's 66 famepoint barriers, which locked most users out of the exciting part of the game."
Stoked: Big Air Edition will shred retail powder on November 24 with a MSRP of $39.99. Feel free to warble on over to the official Stoked blog if you wanna sun bake for a few.

Total Fail.
I know I'm judging a game I've yet played, but when the majority of the trailer features some snowboarder (pardon any ignorance) flapping his jaws over actual gameplay (aside from multiple shots of a helicopter), call me unimpressed.
whylekat @ Oct 22nd 2009 5:34PM
That plus the dev company is named Bongfish.... You know those hippies are NOT getting any work done!
Pot makes you lazy, bro!
AoE @ Oct 22nd 2009 6:21PM
Maybe you should rent it before making snap judgments. I say this only because you're calling an improved version of the best Snowboarding game this generation total fail. But hey! To each his own, have fun with that crappy Shaun White game!
TriviumSuffocationTheBlackDahliaMurderLambOfGod @ Oct 22nd 2009 1:13PM
The first Stoked had its fair share of issues, but it was a very solid realistic snowboarding title. It was basically the spiritual successor to Amped 1 & 2. It'll be nice to see all the little kinks worked out in this version, because I already found the original version to be very rewarding and enjoyable.
It was quite nice to get this after being incredibly disappointed with Shaun White's Snowboarding. It was so clunky and rough.
Stoked has a fantastic dynamic weather system and the mountains were incredibly detailed and big. Getting to fly around the helicopter and drop anywhere was another positive.
I recommend checking out the first one if you're a fan of more realistic snowboarding titles. It can be found for dirt cheap now.
oxymoronx420 @ Oct 22nd 2009 1:35PM
It wasn't that good. Snowboarding games this gen haven't been that great.
Stoked was hyped to be something great, it wasn't.
Stop making it sound better than it is, you sound like you're being paid :-P
Neuromancer @ Oct 22nd 2009 2:00PM
^Yes because god knows you are not allowed to have your own opinion.
I had Stoked. Was it the greatest snowboarding game ever made? No, but it was still a lot of fun (and got better reviews than Shaun White's game by the way).

Oxymoron:
Cool, since you think you know more than me on Stoked, link me to your gamertag. I'd like to see how far you've gotten in the game and see how much credibility your opinion has against mine. Thanks.
Mr Mobius - the wandering artist @ Oct 22nd 2009 3:48PM
How does that matter? If he liked it, he liked it, and if not then he didn't. What does it matter how well he did in it? It's only an opinion, not a fact, so your opinion is not voided by his.
TriviumSuffocationTheBlackDahliaMurderLambOfGod @ Oct 22nd 2009 4:00PM
Cause he came down on my opinion so hard, then made silly accusations.

" It was basically the spiritual successor to Amped 1 & 2."
Not trying to be cracking wise here ... But wasn't Amped 3 the successor to Amped 1 & 2? Spiritual or otherwise.
J.Goodwin @ Oct 22nd 2009 6:01PM
Not really. Amped 3 has a lot of significant differences from the first two games, particularly tone. Stoked and Amped3 have a lot in common (open world, realistic mountains, challenges, a system for gaining reputation, an insanely good and varied soundtrack), but Amped3 was pretty significantly dumbed down in terms of the gameplay, and while I enjoyed the game for the tripped out storyline, most people seem to think it was a step backwards for the series.
Play Amped3 and Stoked back to back and all those differences will be really obvious, but if it's been a while since you played Amped2 or Amped3, you may find that your memory of what those games were and what they are is pretty different. Stoked is a vastly superior sports game to Amped 3 where it matters: depth of gameplay and realism in the environment.

Flop 2, the story continues
Neuromancer @ Oct 22nd 2009 2:01PM
Yeah it was such a flop they made another one. The Call of Duty series must be a huge flop too.

klitorisaurus @ Oct 22nd 2009 1:43PM
So is there any new content? Or are you being charged to fix the lighting? I wouldn't call a few new events a whole new game. Sounds like this should be a free patch, but maybe I'm not getting the full story.
David Hinkle @ Oct 22nd 2009 1:47PM
I mentioned new content in the post: "all new race challenges, big air/slopestyle events"
J.Goodwin @ Oct 22nd 2009 6:06PM
There are also two new mountains. The original had five.
Neuromancer @ Oct 22nd 2009 2:01PM
I had the 1st one. It was awesome but pretty challenging on a technical level. If you like snowboarding games though there's really no reason not to try this.
klitorisaurus @ Oct 22nd 2009 2:12PM
Well when I think of "new race challenges" in a snowboard game, I picture the same tired old mountain with the checkpoints shuffled around... am I wrong? Are there new and previosly unseen areas to shred? Enough to justify a retail release? I didn't play the first game but I'd assume they were smart enough to have licensed gear... Does the new game have this years boards in it?
I'm not trying to be confrontational here, I'm just curious if this is a $40 expansion/fix of the first game.
klitorisaurus @ Oct 22nd 2009 2:13PM
Sorry, I meant to reply to my first comment... stupid phone!
Martin @ Oct 22nd 2009 2:14PM
I'd rather have SSX Tricky HD :(
mountpanic @ Oct 22nd 2009 2:57PM
I'm not THAT easy, no matter HOW much I love SSX Tricky. After this long, I'd expect SSX Tricky 2 (and we'll pretend that SSX3 and especial On Tour never happened).
AoE @ Oct 22nd 2009 6:25PM
They're entirely different games. This would be like posting "I'd rather have a new Burnout :(" on a story about Gran Turismo 5.
Martin @ Oct 22nd 2009 7:15PM
That'd be a fair statement also.
mountpanic @ Oct 31st 2009 5:57PM
I WOULD rather have another Burnout than any Gran Turismo, ever.
Toop @ Oct 22nd 2009 8:25PM
Since EA Sports Big has refused to make a new SSX thus far I picked up Stoked early this year. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys snowboarding games. I would doubly recommend it if they enjoy the back country exploration part of snowboarding. Flying over the edge of an unexplored part of the mountains is spectacular. The game just looks and feel great.
The game does have little bugs, which will hopefully be fixed, but there wasn't anything I encountered to hold me back from recommending it. I won't buy this new version because I got plenty of play time out of the original and I should be spending time finishing it. For anyone who didn't pick it up though (which is a significant amount of people) this game shouldn't disappoint.
Oh, and don't even compare this with the Shaun White game. I was equally optimistic for both games and the SW game was horribly boring.
Rebel4Liberty @ Oct 28th 2009 3:50AM

DEAD ON THE NAIL! Nobody could sum it up any better than that. Amped 3 COULD have been better, but again, it has been proven it was a rushed job for the 360 launch. The one thing I will disagree with you on is Stoked and Amped 3 having something in common....sorry Amped 3 was arcade, all sim was pretty much erased. Stoked is all sim. You may be getting it confused, Big Air will have a little more common with Amped 3, blending backcountry with park objects. I made this suggestion since I did LIKE Amped 3's mtns, but I detested the controls. They obviously liked this idea of blending marked trails with objects and then you can go off course into the backcountry, adding that missing diversity in Stoked with it being only 'natural'
"Play Amped3 and Stoked back to back and all those differences will be really obvious, but if it's been a while since you played Amped2 or Amped3, you may find that your memory of what those games were and what they are is pretty different. This is what I agree with you on. I KNEW it was superior the moment I laid eyes on the trailer. I could see the spirit of Amped in the game. As some comments are saying, this is the spiritual successor to Amped. I have been brought in, with the help of those who care in progressing this title with things we would really like to see. Big Air is just a step towards reaching what Amped 2 has been noted for snowboarding games. With the Rebel Outpost, and those who want to participate in coming up with neat ideas or suggestions I can pass along to them to build a blue-print for the true sequel and be rewarded in the process. Fan will have a voice at the Rebel Outpost !
SSX gamers, even though I am no fan of that series, will have some high speed racing with courses for this, its a small bone, plus the fact you can do 1640 spins and 7x flips dubbed "uber" to get "off the wall" but the whole of the game is SIM
Those that are saying "why should we buy the same game again" It's not the same. ALL the mtns are laid out better, trees and rocks better spaced apart, with marked trails and PARK objects on each one. Then they have polished all the rough areas that Stoked has, controls, flow, grinding, physics, cam angles. More comps and events. A more forgiving game start up, than forced. Its going to be much better and I was told this is the game they really wanted to do, but even with Big Air, it is 'work in progress' and there is soo much more to do like.....
REAL corks/rodoes control--all point axis control
Spinning jibbs
Video/Cam editor--database upload/picture sharing
Kicker editor
Half Pipe (eventually)
More shop options/customization
Playable online events and comps
More variety in the challenges
Deeper gradual amateur-professional career progression
Local multi player
Hike wo bindings
ALL this can eventually happen, but it requires your support to get there. The companies have to be rewarded to advance the title. They are not multi-million dollar companies YET, so there is no way they can compete with "Skate" yet. Your support will require patience to deliver the game WE all desire in time. I am the eye's and ear's of the dev team, so if you have ideas, suggestions or whatever I'll be watching to pass it along to them
