THQ searched high and low, and found a license that will allow the publisher to bring something new and unique to the gaming scene: a post-apocalyptic FPS. Metro 2033 is in development for PC and Xbox 360 and based on the novel of the same name by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky.
Ukrainian developer 4A Games' Metro 2033 is set in the subways of a ruined Moscow. You play Artyom, a young man who has never ventured outside of the Vault "Metro Station-City" to which he is loyal. His adventure takes him around the Metro system, home of other factions (some of which are hostile), and to the inhospitable above-ground world.
According to Amazon, a new English printing of the novel will be released in February. While we aren't certain that provides a time frame in which to expect THQ's version (currently slated for "2010"), it does mean that readers will be able to totally spoil the events of the game.
more s.t.a.l.k.e.r isn't a bad thing though... really enjoyed that game, it was buggy as hell but it looked so good and it had such an eerie feel to it, and with the npc's all speaking russian having conversations with each other, playing guitar around the camp fire... its the little things like that i really liked
i like the post apocalyptic genre... so ill be keeping an eye on this game
Yeah. The video interested me much more than the idea. It seems like Fallout 3 with more FPS and less RPG. I hope so at least. After owning Fallout 3 for almost a year, I've yet to really get into it and just beat the damn thing.
Just finished Fallout 3 loved it, tried S.T.A.L.K.E.R. couldnt ever really get into it and RAGE i have zero interest in but like Tom something struck a chord. I will be following this one.
Yea I love the post apocalypse genre. From books, movies, and games and this stuck to me. It has a resemblance to several other games it still has something ticking in it that grabs my attention.
Post-apocalyptic FPS? Finally! Something that hasn't been done before.
/sarcasm
The one thing I do like about THQ is the completely overdone ragdolls. That was one of my favorite parts about Saints Row 2 and the only reason I played Titan Quest...so if this has funny ragdolls, I'll give it a shot.
off top, the graphics look better then fallout. will it be as fun to play? next, there are plenty of real world as well as imaginary situations that can be used to make a game without basing it on a subject that has been done or is currently having the fun and virtual life sucked out of it. you wanna know who i think suck the most? well, i'll tell you anyway. Businessmen. they should be called bandwagonmen. just because one game uses a successful "whatever" and gets crazy attention for it, doesn't mandate that feature as industry standard. we'll get along without your imitation of the latest greatest. the same lack of originality and loss of creativity that ruined all forms of music, and films, is running the gaming industry too. i do wanna play RAGE though.lol
Well, Artyorn certainly has a lot more personality in here than in Fallout 3-I'm seeing more characterization in that trailer than in any of my 50 plus hour in Fallout 3, but then, maybe its cause Artyorn can talk...
Looks like Fallout 3 mixed with STALKER, hmmm interesting. I wish Nvidia would stop with their bullshit marketing scam (The Way Its Meant To Be Played), seriously I mean its on Xbox360 and everyone knows its got an ATI graphics chip, fuck you Microsoft, lick my ballz!!!!!!!!!!
I re-read your comment several times, trying to find some coherance. After failing that, I am left with one question: Can I have whatever it is you're smoking?
THQ could certainly do with the cash at the moment, so here is hoping this game is all it could be and the enemies aren't generic zombie mutants or something, bit fed up of them now ¬_¬ Unless its like Left for dead of course, of which I'd be all up for zombie mutants :D
