James Cameron's Avatar launches for everything Dec. 1
Ubisoft's website lists James Cameron's Avatar as launching across all platforms -- Xbox 360, PS3, PC, DS, Wii, PSP, Wifi-enabled Toilets and Toasters that also cook hot dogs -- for December 1. As we're often skeptical with what we read on the Internet, we decided to find out if the listing was accurate. According to Ubisoft, the game will indeed launch in North America on December 1.
The date thrusts gamers into the Avatar universe more than two weeks before the film hits theaters on December 16. Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 players -- with the proper set up -- will also be able to experience the game in 3D. Whether or not James Cameron will record what seems like an hours-long video introduction outlining every detail of the game and movie experience to accompany the launch is unclear.

Excited for nothing... Afraid this will be another 'nothing game'.

Some say Transformers 2 'looks amazing!'
Didn't stop me from hating it.
Duke @ Oct 23rd 2009 1:56PM
I can't get excited about this right now. I am cautious when viewing the hype, because if they fail it seems they will fail huge.
Obie @ Oct 23rd 2009 4:14PM
Spyder, seriously why would you hate a movie before it even is released? It's not from a director that makes bombs, or a translation of a book that everyone loved.
Try and keep an open mind, people say you'll live longer.
Dr. Bradwart @ Oct 23rd 2009 4:44PM
I trust James Cameron. That's why I'm excited for the movie.
Fane [Grammar Police - Power Of Pedantry] @ Oct 24th 2009 6:12PM
I used to trust James Cameron. Then, he didn't make a feature film for, what, a dozen years because he was busy fiddling with new technology.
Does that sound familiar to anyone?
I hope Jim doesn't suffer the same fate as George.
Dr. Bradwart @ Oct 23rd 2009 1:07AM
It's about time Google TISP got some game support. I've been waiting for ages.
Dafrety @ Oct 23rd 2009 1:13AM
I know, right? By the way, do you have any Gulp bottle caps? I've been looking since it launched and haven't found a single one!
Dr. Bradwart @ Oct 23rd 2009 1:16AM
I think they only bottle it at the Copernicus center, for the PigeonRank employees.
Trickob @ Oct 23rd 2009 3:05AM
you both sound insane, you realize that... right?
Shamrock @ Oct 23rd 2009 1:08AM
not everything, not the ps2
Dr. Bradwart @ Oct 23rd 2009 1:09AM
I noticed that. It's kinda sad, but the PS2 is nine years old now.
JeezWhiz87 @ Oct 23rd 2009 6:23AM
Your sister is 9 years old now.

Nice.
CH3BURASHKA @ Oct 23rd 2009 1:20AM
The post right below is Ubisoft saying there's no room in the market for bad games. Then again, what I've played of it WAS pretty decent. I predict 7's, maybe 8's.
SpyderTaco (PSN: Ar4chNova89) @ Oct 23rd 2009 1:24AM
Baha. I didn't notice that. Good call.
I'm actually getting tired of every movie game being 'just another third-person action game'. It would be nice if some of them tried to step outside the box.
I look at the footage of the Avatar game and all it reminds me of is The Mummy Returns on PS2. It's amazing how little those things evolve.
Apollo @ Oct 23rd 2009 1:31AM
I heard this movie's a remake of Delgo.
Monica Dickey @ Oct 23rd 2009 2:51AM
Hope it's fun. Wolverine got me into movie games after generally avoiding them, I hope this can be close to that quality.
haukke @ Oct 23rd 2009 3:31AM
[Hey look, my comment was deleted because I'm annoying!]
dmd @ Oct 23rd 2009 5:02AM
i still don't know what this game is all about. Is it an FPS? An 3rth person Action game? Never really stoped and looked at it.
ray k @ Oct 23rd 2009 6:54AM
You should have checked out Ubisoft's 45 min snoozefest 'preview' at e3 then dmd... that was the catalyst for the huge anticipation of this title.
"How can we drum up some interest for this?"
"I know, let's get Mr. Cameron to talk about his film and how great it's going to be for ages, and then just show the same AC2 trailer at the end of the show we've already demo'd for the past month or two"
GewurztraminerX @ Oct 23rd 2009 8:05AM
I still don't know what this movie is all about
(not that I've tried very hard to find out).
JeezWhiz87 @ Oct 23rd 2009 6:24AM
I hope Celine Dion is doing the soundtrack.
ray k @ Oct 23rd 2009 6:50AM
WAT? no mac support!?
Who'da thunk it!?
Although, back in the real world, bit strange that there isn't a jesusPhone version... I'm sure some "dev" will pick up the slack around release though and hash one out in a week or two. Alternatively, perhaps it is still in the App Store being vetted for approval by the 'Jobs'worths, wondering how it's merits can be compared alongside the next winning batch of 5,000 iSkidmark apps.
Storm Eagle [Resident Capcom Megafan] @ Oct 23rd 2009 10:08AM
Give it time.
My doubts for this IP are many.

Heh, I actually sent in a proposal to Fox about an iPhone app. :)

There is a new movie trailer out today but only in theaters supposedly. Online the 29th.

Lemme just give you a quick backstory here.....
ih8neocons @ Nov 11th 2009 9:45PM
To all the haters...
Jim Cameron's motto is: "Set your goals ridiculously high. That way, if you fail, you at least fail higher than everyone else."
So, even if he falls short of his goals, he'll still kick everyone's ass.
That attitude, combined with his track record, plus the pure awesomeness of the 3.5 minute theatrical trailer tells me Avatar is going to be great.
