We're not convinced that Spike TV had the most quality people handling their interviews on the red carpet of the Scream 2009 awards. As you can see in this video interview, the ham 'n' egger behind the camera actually asked Geoff Keighley how he gets so many exclusives when everybody knows Geoff Keighley secretes exclusives glandularly.
The interviewer does do one thing right though, getting Keighley to promise that he'll have even better exclusives than last year in the 2009 VGA ceremony. He's made similar promises in the past and delivered, most notably during last year's show in which God of War 3 debuted. We just can't imagine how much spicy food he'll have to eat to pull that off.
That's right ... Geoff Keighley is basically Turbo Teen.

Yeah I remember when they showed a 20 second CG trailer that looked pretty bad cause it was in an early form. I look forward to even more CG game announcements this year /sarcasm

Last time I watched the VGAs... was the FIRST and the LAST time.
I seemed to remember something like Madden '05 winning every award possible much to my anger. Have things changed since then?
I promised myself I would never trust a video game program on TV again. I seem to remember the Xbox 360 debut on MTV reaffirming this promise as well.

iirc they did much better in terms of distribution of nominations and actual awards last year. They're getting closer to something resembling a legitimate show
still nothing that a Nintendo fanboy as myself would have any cause to be interested in, but for your average gamer, the show is getting pretty good in terms of giving awards where they belong

Genre-defining? ROFL. I don't think so. They are solid games though, no doubt.

No, just no. GoW is an action game. Killing things (what you think of as Hack-n-slash) is one of few things that defines the series. There are also puzzles and a decent character upgrading system (spending orbs on magic or the different weapons.) Calling it Hack-n-Slash means that it is boring and repetitive. And your description of Forza is off as well. Forza is a racing Sim. As opposed to an arcade racer like Midnight club or Need for Speed. Go back to your drawing board.

Ah, the Video Game 'Awards'...where they give out awards involving Mountain Dew...
Spike needs to cancel this crap. Give us a real award show, someone.

The Mountain Dew award last year was given to World of Goo as best independent game -- which is actually one of the most important awards in the show, as it rewards unknown and emerging talent.

Well that's nice and all, but really, when you're on a network television station you can't dwelve into more of that. It's all about the BIG GAMES, and MASS APPEAL. Problem is when you get into that MASS APPEAL, it leaves us discerning gamers annoyed. That's why I feel like I'm always better off stickin' to Gametrailers.com.
