The Force Unleashed PC requirements prompt trip to Tosche station

Remember when Star Wars: The Force Unleashed failed to make an appearance on the PC platform last year, and LucasArts claimed it would only be able to run on gaming rigs equipped with futuristic cybertechnology mankind had yet to invent? Somehow, Aspyr Media has found a way to bring the Sith Edition of the game to your personal computer without requiring you to install tachyon holophase relays or warpsteel heat dissipators.

However, the game's minimum requirements, which are posted after the jump, do suggest you need something called a "3D Hardware Accelerator Card." Yeah, sure. Let us just hop in our time machine and we'll pick one up at the Future Best Buy.

I'm rebuying it for the Ultimate Sith Edition content (I sold the original), but it'll be for PS3, not PC.

Whoa whoa, what kind of Darth Vader variant armour is that in the pic? In the movies, from start to finish, his armour never significantly changes.

That's not Vader, that's the armor for the Secret Apprentice on the Hoth level, exclusive to the Ultimate Sith Edition.

He has on his winter wear. He has to stay warm

I was thinking those were pretty reasonable specs. . .until I saw the hdd space requirement. Screw that, I'll stick with the console versions.

The only reason I'd consider getting this game for PC is because the physics processing and calculations won't cause a slight pause as they do on the consoles. I have Force Unleashed on Xbox, and that was one annoyance I had with it. Those requirements are actually surprising, specifically that nearly 24gb hard disk space requirement. Looks like I'll need that terabyte drive sooner than I had anticipated.

Tachyon holophase relays are fairly cheap in aftermarket outlets, but they're fairly useless without a decent Heisenberg compensator, and those will run you a small fortune. Don't even get me started on the cost of a set of self-sealing stem bolts fully compatible with the relays. It's enough to make you want to reverse the polarity of the neutron flow.

Or, you could just make a unlicensed nuclear accelerator pack. Or buy Mr. Fusion.

Both of those are better with a Heisenberg compensator: it will actually be safe to cross the streams, and Mr. Fusion will make coffee. Win-win. No Kobayashi Maru.

yeah, this is the first game I've seen that my system can't run.
I've got a 2.4 Ghz processor, 4gigs RAM, and an 8500 GT... not bad, COD4 ran at full specs and 70+ fps, so why does this need these requirements?

It uses FORCE input technology. Extra processing power is required to properly convert from Midi-chlorian signals to digital. And of course to boost the effect of FORCE for those with little or no FORCE. Fully tested with VADER technology to ensure no one can use too much FORCE.

As for the armor: It could be a gift from Lord Vader to the apprentice.

When is the PS3 version of this coming out? I know one thing is only on the new disk, and the other is only DLC. I'd like both, so I guess I'm selling my current copy...

seriously, how is an 8800GT ever a minimum? Most games still consider 6xxx series as a minimum spec.

Remember guys, this is Aspyr, the geniuses behind the PC ports of Guitar Hero 3, Aerosmith and World Tour. Minimum specs are absurdly high, and it won't run on them.

System specs for this game should mention the requisite plexiglass shield for your monitor, since you will be trying to ram your forehead through the screen during the Star Destroyer crashing sequence.

Wow that's really steep, but I suppose (aside from the HD Requirements) that the dual core+ and graphic requirement is related to the Havok meets euphoria meets the DMM bendy plants stuff. I remember watching the videos for the 360 version development and that's a lot of calculations going on!

It's probably why they didn't make it for PC to start, not enough horsepower to run it adequately. I remember once upon a time Doom 3 would bring a system to it's knees, but now it's a laugh as grandma's dell will play Doom 3 just fine. Even if it's not amazing when it first comes out it should be running better as hardware gets cheaper etc. Isn't a 9800 a budget card now anyway? it's like 120 bucks on Newegg... let's wait for the review mayhaps.

I got my computer at Best Buy. Then I got one about 5 times more powerful and at a cheaper price at Micro Center less than a year later.

Well, we can rule out performance optimization as the reason for the PC release delay. Don't fool yourselves people, the game won't look any better on PC than it does on consoles. This is most likely going to be a bad port, with the spongey mouse response and graphical glitches common to any console game being released on PC for the sole purpose of milking a bit more money out of it.

The writer of this article must be a fucking moron or a console noob.

3D Hardware Accelerator is a term that ahs been used since back when fucking 3dfx put out there "3D Hardware Accelerators" like in 1996. and it says it like it fucking is.

You are no longer using software 3d you are now using fucking hardware for 3d and it is being accelerated.

And 3d Hardware Accelerator is a fucking old ass obsolete term that os only printed on the bottom of lame ass boxes like this starwars games.

the new one Is GPU so I do not know what the fuck you are smoking with this travel to the future crap.

And as for this starwars game it sucked wake me when they make a new real jedi knigtht game on pc.
