Just how long will the PS3 hang on to that top spot (for consoles)? I'm aware that things will change with FFXIII, but...

I'm saying that, barring FFXIII, will the PS3 be able to keep ahead of the Wii?

yeah, it will be able to hold its own against the wii. part of it comes from the new model, the new price drop, and the fact that everyone in japan already has a wii.

I'm not sure about everyone (the DS keeps selling more, and it's been out longer) but I would hope Sony can pull it off. They've been taking it in the shorts for a long time.

Still is. They've only managed to clear a million units since launch, as opposed to over thirty million throughout the rest of the world. The PS3 has sold 3.4 million units in Japan, and the Wii has cleared eight million.

How come DSi is split from DS lite - but PSP Go isn't split from PSP?

PSP Go isn't released in Japan until Nov. 1. When it does, it will likely be counted as a different system (while the 1K, 2K, and 3K models were counted as the same; DS, DS Lite, and DSi were counted seperately).

DSi hardware is actually a good amount more powerful than the DS lite. I think the processor is like 4x faster or something.

Go wiki it.

considering the DSi and DS lite are running separate right now, i'm just gonna assume that the go and the regular PSP are gonna be separate too. and yeah, it comes out on nov. 1 in japan.

Well, from what I can summarize, it appears the Wii fad shall only be temporary and the PS3 shall succeed in Japan (especially with FF13 around the corner). Despite what you hear about the 360, the Japanese will never accept it (probably because it's made by a American company who's products technical issues are quite baffling). They didn't accept the original Xbox, so you'd expect the same for it's successor. But that's not really important to Microsoft since Japan is only like one part of the crowd versus the entire world. Japanese players aren't even their demographic anyway, right?
So anyway, would you expect the Wii fad to cease in the States & Europe as well?
