PSA: Best Buy's 'buy 2, get the 3rd game free' sale starts today

Last week's rumor of Best Buy's "buy 2, get the 3rd game" sale beginning today rang of truth. The offer is good on all Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 software that's $60 or less, which is pretty much everything not involving plastic peripheral bundles.

Best Buy is typically pretty well stocked with software, but with a sale like this, it's probably best to show up early today to get the games you're gunning for. We'll keep an eye on Amazon to see if it matches this sale like it did Toys "R" Us' from a couple weeks ago.

Is this going to be in Canada as well? I want to buy a PS3 slim and this would be a sweet deal to get with it!

Doesn't look like this is happening in Canada. If Amazon matches this sale though, their American site will usually ship up here, so take advantage.

We already established in the other thread that might be possible, but monetarily Best Buy is smarter than TRU, and will ring up 2 $60 games as $40 each, ruining most scam schemes.

Best Buy can screw up, though. Like when the fools sold me a copy of Mass Effect for 15 when the MSRP was still 40.

Still haven't figured that one out.

I would bet, however, that they are aware of scams involving returns, so don't count on that working.

Can anyone confirm if the games ring up full price on the receipt? Trying to find out if it will work to buy forza 3 and return the other 2 games for store credit. Will this scam work to get mw2 and l4d2 when they come out?

I just got back from Best Buy, and I can confirm that two games ring up at $60, and one rings up at $0. idk if that means you can do the TRU swapping method though

um, guys...

$30 + $30 + $60 = $120 which is what 2 games are normally, so technically you're getting one game for free.

$40 + $40 + $60 = $140 which is more than what 2 games cost.

so what's with the downrank?

@Sly They'll charge you $40 for each game on your receipt, so you'll be boned if you try to take any of them back later for a new $60 game that wasn't available during the promotion

It's completely worth a shot...I really don't want to waste this promo on stuff I don't really want.

Everything else I already have, b/c I obsessively can't wait for these buy 2/get 1 free deals (to be honest, I keep forgetting TRU has this practically every year).

Going there Tuesday to get Ratchet and Clank, Metroid Prime Trilogy and either Wii Sports Resort or Mario Kart Wii as the free game. Kinda sad, I'll have 6 wii games and no system yet :(

I'll probably get R&C on Tuesday also. May get Demon's Souls w/ it. Already have U2...

Well I'm not sure, but right now while I have items in my cart trying to decide which to get it is reading (full price) (full price) (0). Who knows until I complete my order though.
It also says it excludes pre-orders, but it seems as though games coming out this week (FIFA 10, Tekken 6, Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time) show themselves being eligible.
I'm decided on Borderlands and Ratchet, but I can't decide between FIFA 10 or Batman, input?

I used to play FIFA 09 almost nonstop, but I really want to check out Batman after hearing so much good. Is Batman worth it as a freebie or still better off as a renter?

Assuming you already have Uncharted 2, get Batman.

Batman was my contender for game of the year until Uncharted came out. They did wonderful with the Batman Liscence.

As for FIFA... it's not popular in America, so there will probably be sales associated with it specifically soon enough.

FIFA never goes on sale, none of the EA Sports games do. Im getting FIFA, Uncharted 2, and Stories of Liberty City.

I've played both Batman and FIFA 10, and both are fantastic games. Fifa is just the more appealing game to me because of the multiplayer aspects. A lot of my friends are into soccer so they can come over and play a few matches with me. I had a great time with Batman too, so don't get me wrong. Batman does have a much better chance of going on sale than Fifa, so I would go with Fifa for this deal, but then pick up Batman in a few months.

I'm not a soccer fan so I would go with Batman its really good but it might not give you the same hours worth of play a sports game would. I just picked up Uncharted 2, Borderlands and R & C

I pretty much have to wait until Thursday...

i still need brutal legend, wii sports resort, and the metroid prime trilogy, is the multiplayer from MP2 still in?

I'm contemplating doing this. I didn't really have 3 games that I wanted to own. I'm buying Forza 3 for sure this week. Like half my 360 friends list are playing Borderland. So, I'm now wanting to buy that kinda. Then I played the Ratchet & Clank PS3 demo last night and want that.

Borderland and Ratchet were going to be rentals for me, but now it's got me thinking with this buy 2, get 1 free deal.

Plus, I should be getting Uncharted 2 from Gamefly Monday or Tuesday and I'm right in the middle of Godfather II. I really don't think I need 3 new games right now. By the time I get to them, they might only be $40 new. :-)
