NintendoWare Weekly: Zombies Axed My PictureBook

Of course Nintendo of America didn't release Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth today. That would have been far too obvious. However, rather than disappointing us with this week's selections, Nintendo actually surprised us with a very welcome, seasonally appropriate Virtual Console classic! Knock on the post break and see what kind of downloadable candy Nintendo is shoving into our pillowcases.

WiiWare

Ghost Mansion Party (Gameloft, 1-4 players, 1,000 Wii Points): In this board game, you're attempting to chase malevolent ghosts out of Fazzy the ghost's house by playing minigames. So it's part Ghost Mansion Party, and part Ghost Mansion Eviction.
Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 3: Lair of the Leviathan (Telltale, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points): Bazzy the monkey has been locked out of his island ... okay, not really. It's more adventurin' with Guybrush, this time in a giant manatee, where Guybrush apparently meets up with a legendary explorer.

Virtual Console

Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): Zeke and Julie take to the local streets to shoot water guns at all the monsters of myth and legend. It's even better than it sounds!
Golden Axe (Arcade, 1-2 players, 900 Wii Points): It's basically the Genesis game, but with nicer graphics and fewer levels. And it costs more money! But on the upside, Gilius Thunderhead actually has a golden axe in this one.

DSiWare

PictureBook Games: The Royal Bluff (Nintendo, 1-4 players, 500 DSi Points): Despite the title, this has little to do with the WiiWare PictureBook Games. It's another board game, but this time based on guessing opponents chip colors, and bluffing to try to prevent that.
SUDOKU (EA, 1 player, 200 Wii Points): You know the DEAL here. In SUDOKU, you write NUMBERS in SQUARES. This version adds a "Newspaper Mode" that lets you "add a daily puzzle from your favorite paper."

Don't bother. The clown decoy works well enough to get away from them so you don't waste ammo. Otherwise, drink the red potion and hulk smash!

Zombies Ate My Neighbours was one of my all time favourites when I was a kid. That game warrants the purchase of a Wii alone, in my book.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors is a great game, Kudos for Nintendo for FINALLY releasing it on VC. It's funny at the Clan of the Gray Wolf, we just finished a video review of the game where we talked about it hopefully coming to VC in the near future. Of course it wasn't to hard to predict since it's been rated by the ESRB for years...

L4D Prequel: Zombies Ate My Neighbors

I am envisioning someone making a Zombies Ate My Neighbors mod for L4D. Complete w/ holy water in the water gun. That would be such a kick ass mod.

Of course this would take quite awhile if it actually included EVERY level of ZAMN.

Wow, Zombies Ate My Neighbors. I spent so much time playing this as a kid, but I don't ever remember making it past like the 12th level without codes. I might actually have to go out and get some points today.

I'm pretty sure that Zombies Ate My Neighbors is one of the best, most under-rated games of the pre-3D era. I played the hell out of that game FOREVER. Ended up buying a second copy after my first wore out. (Seriously.) Wish I still had my Wii, because I would be purchasing this.

I played the hell out of Zombies Ate My Neighbors when I was a kid and it is well worth a second look after all of these years. I played a little bit of it's sequel, Ghoul Patrol, but while the graphics are alot nice, it just doesn't do the original game justice in my opinion.
