NintendoWare Weekly: Zombies Axed My PictureBook

WiiWare
- Ghost Mansion Party (Gameloft, 1-4 players, 1,000 Wii Points): In this board game, you're attempting to chase malevolent ghosts out of Fazzy the ghost's house by playing minigames. So it's part Ghost Mansion Party, and part Ghost Mansion Eviction.
- Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 3: Lair of the Leviathan (Telltale, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points): Bazzy the monkey has been locked out of his island ... okay, not really. It's more adventurin' with Guybrush, this time in a giant manatee, where Guybrush apparently meets up with a legendary explorer.
- Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): Zeke and Julie take to the local streets to shoot water guns at all the monsters of myth and legend. It's even better than it sounds!
- Golden Axe (Arcade, 1-2 players, 900 Wii Points): It's basically the Genesis game, but with nicer graphics and fewer levels. And it costs more money! But on the upside, Gilius Thunderhead actually has a golden axe in this one.
- PictureBook Games: The Royal Bluff (Nintendo, 1-4 players, 500 DSi Points): Despite the title, this has little to do with the WiiWare PictureBook Games. It's another board game, but this time based on guessing opponents chip colors, and bluffing to try to prevent that.
- SUDOKU (EA, 1 player, 200 Wii Points): You know the DEAL here. In SUDOKU, you write NUMBERS in SQUARES. This version adds a "Newspaper Mode" that lets you "add a daily puzzle from your favorite paper."

Richie G @ Oct 26th 2009 10:28AM
Yes! I've been waiting for Zombies ever since the Wii came out.
MLS @ Oct 26th 2009 11:28AM
ME TOO!!
I'm buying it and gifting it to a friend. Love that game!
FOXHOUND @ Oct 26th 2009 5:03PM
THIS. IS. AWESOME.
Best Halloween "gift" from Nintendo I've seen in ages.
CJC @ Oct 26th 2009 10:39AM
Oh, HELL yes.
This has only been rated by the ESRB for, what, about two and a half YEARS?
Maulok @ Oct 26th 2009 10:41AM
Wow, first VC I'm been excited about in a while! Can't wait to get home.
TwEE @ Oct 26th 2009 10:44AM
Zombies Ate My Neighbors was a great game. I never thought this would show up.
Freak Mojo @ Oct 26th 2009 10:52AM
Can we get a VC review on ZAMN, please? I'd love to know if this held up. I had the cart, but don't remember playing it much. Might be a perfect Halloween distraction from the beggars.
merobb @ Oct 26th 2009 10:52PM
A review? Here...
Buy it.
HighFiveJesus @ Oct 26th 2009 10:53AM
mmm lucasarts.
MWAAHAAHAAAHAAA
Stock up on forks, they kill the werewolves in one hit.
Reuben @ Oct 26th 2009 10:57AM
But what kills the chainsaw guys in the hedge-maze? That part always kicked my ass.
HighFiveJesus @ Oct 26th 2009 2:02PM
Don't bother. The clown decoy works well enough to get away from them so you don't waste ammo. Otherwise, drink the red potion and hulk smash!
Lukeyo @ Oct 26th 2009 5:26PM
They did a great job with those chainsaw guys. Scared the crap out of me back in the day.
wii60dsgamer @ Oct 26th 2009 10:57AM
When will they ever release a VC game that I don't already own a physical copy of?
Donald @ Oct 26th 2009 11:03AM
Depends on how big your collection is.
SoshiKitai @ Oct 26th 2009 4:46PM
Is this a comment to show how big your collection is, or how awfully coincidental it is that they're skipping all the ones you want but never got?
MystileArmor @ Oct 26th 2009 11:10AM
Zombies Ate My Neighbours was one of my all time favourites when I was a kid. That game warrants the purchase of a Wii alone, in my book.
Reuben @ Oct 26th 2009 11:12AM
It's times like these when I wish that one was capable of transferring NES/SNES games to the DS much like the PSP.
dantebk @ Oct 26th 2009 11:20AM
Holy crap, dude! Zombies Ate My Neighbors! Awesome! The O.C. remix of the Zombies theme is my cell ring tone. So good!
DCLegend @ Oct 26th 2009 12:02PM
Zombies Ate My Neighbors is a great game, Kudos for Nintendo for FINALLY releasing it on VC. It's funny at the Clan of the Gray Wolf, we just finished a video review of the game where we talked about it hopefully coming to VC in the near future. Of course it wasn't to hard to predict since it's been rated by the ESRB for years...
Check out the review here: http://www.clanofthegraywolf.com/16-bit-gems/6
Don't sleep on Golden Axe either, that's a classic.

L4D Prequel: Zombies Ate My Neighbors
I am envisioning someone making a Zombies Ate My Neighbors mod for L4D. Complete w/ holy water in the water gun. That would be such a kick ass mod.
Of course this would take quite awhile if it actually included EVERY level of ZAMN.
Dopple Boppler @ Oct 26th 2009 12:32PM
Wow, Zombies Ate My Neighbors. I spent so much time playing this as a kid, but I don't ever remember making it past like the 12th level without codes. I might actually have to go out and get some points today.
Lucky @ Oct 26th 2009 12:34PM
I wonder if Europe will once again get the censored version. Of course even then ZAMN is pure gold.
Dave @ Oct 26th 2009 12:57PM
I'm pretty sure that Zombies Ate My Neighbors is one of the best, most under-rated games of the pre-3D era. I played the hell out of that game FOREVER. Ended up buying a second copy after my first wore out. (Seriously.) Wish I still had my Wii, because I would be purchasing this.
Ian Boyle @ Oct 26th 2009 2:46PM
I played the hell out of Zombies Ate My Neighbors when I was a kid and it is well worth a second look after all of these years. I played a little bit of it's sequel, Ghoul Patrol, but while the graphics are alot nice, it just doesn't do the original game justice in my opinion.
CaramelZappa @ Oct 26th 2009 2:21PM
Zombies Ate My Neighbors is awesome.
Hey nintendo, Super Smash Brothers for the n64 next time? Pretty please?
Alexisonfire @ Oct 26th 2009 2:39PM
God Dammit! Again with Cave Story missing its release date target! No amount of zombie murder will help me through that disappointment.
SoshiKitai @ Oct 26th 2009 4:48PM
Even if it was a zombie-fied form of Cave Story?
sam @ Oct 26th 2009 7:47PM
More Tales! Awesome. (Yes, I know, it's monthly, I shouldn't be surprised - wait, an episodic game meeting its deadlines? Okay, I probably *should* be surprised.)
Garu @ Oct 26th 2009 7:52PM
"Zombies Ate My Neighbors" + virtual console + David Hinkle + video review = one awesome Monday!!
6souls @ Oct 26th 2009 8:12PM
