Rumor: Animator resume lists work on 'GoldenEye 2010'
Shortly before being pulled from the internet's intimidating view, an animator's online resume may have let out a secret -- concerning an iconic secret agent. According to the eagle-eyed Superannuation, Craig Peck listed work on a game dubbed "GoldenEye 2010 (Wii)," created in association with British developer Eurocom.
Eurocom previously worked on the PlayStation 2 version of Activision's Quantum of Solace tie-in. Assuming "GoldenEye 2010" isn't merely a nostalgic codename, it seems the publisher could be looking to a well-regarded classic for inspiration on a new James Bond game. Alas, Hollywood can't keep up with Activision's annual aspirations.
The publisher won't divulge any of its plans this early, leaving us to wait for further information or for our time-traveling correspondent to confirm the game's existence. He's really more of a GoldenEye 2020 fan -- looking back, that really was the best of the remakes.

Wasn't there another "Goldeneye" game just a few years ago?
But it like totally sucked?
I know Quantum of Solace sucked. But I swear they made another Bond game with Goldeneye in the title.
Quattro @ Oct 26th 2009 2:59PM
Are you thinking of GoldenEye: Rogue Agent?
Though that was 5 years ago.
Mr Khan @ Oct 26th 2009 3:01PM
Yeah, you are thinking of Rogue Agent. But that was a long time ago. I remember debating whether to buy it in the first months of DS ownership, when there was a good drought between launch (and SM64DS), and the next game that caught my eye (Canvas Curse)
Anthony M. @ Oct 26th 2009 3:09PM
LETS NOT FORGET about the Goldeneye HD version that was made, but wasn't allowed to be released due to IP and Nintendo's stake in the name.
There's an XBLA Version of the original Goldeneye ready to be released this instant, if Nintendo would allow it.
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Oct 26th 2009 3:20PM
I actually liked Rogue Agent....use to do games with Bots and have a blast
Giroro @ Oct 26th 2009 3:36PM
@Anthony M.
If anything is holding back an XBLA release of Goldeneye, it would be the James Bond license, not Nintendo.
Vcize @ Oct 26th 2009 4:15PM
Giroro, rather than type out the rather long explanation as to how it does indeed all boil down to Nintendo in the end on my phone keyboard, I'll settle for just telling you that you don't know what the he'll you're talking about.
SoshiKitai @ Oct 26th 2009 4:33PM
I have no idea what the he'll you're talking about either.
samfish [is sad there is no Gene in Tats v Cap =( ] @ Oct 26th 2009 4:34PM
Actually NOBODY knows what they're talking about.
None of the involved parties — Rare, Microsoft, Nintendo or Activision — have said anything in regards to why the game was never released.
There was a rumor once supposedly from someone who worked at Rare that it was Nintendo holding it back. But it was nothing more than that...a rumor.
Said rumor, if memory serves, also originated on freaking GAMEFAQS.
There was also a rumor that it was Activision who was withholding it...but I never see the Xbox fanboys recite that bit of speculation as if it's fact.
The truth of the matter is that ANYONE who says they know why Goldeneye isn't available is, at best, full of complete shit.
Mr Khan @ Oct 26th 2009 5:55PM
The rumor, which only exists because some people still have the idea that Nintendo has no rights to the game, stated that Nintendo basically threw a hissy fit to Activision, threatening to cut off Activision's licensing rights on Wii/DS (which is worth a lot more to Activision than some XBLA title), out of jealousy, and so Activision intervened and denied the license. A neat way to paint Nintendo in the worst light possible in that case (as an impotent, petty party, relying only on Activision's clout to save them)
A rather foolish argument. Nintendo would threaten to sue directly in any event, but my guess is that Microsoft's or Rare's own lawyers pointed out the obvious implications, and put a stop to it.
shouryuuken @ Oct 26th 2009 7:23PM
agreed.. everything ive heard has been rumors and not confirmation.
i do believe that activision is probably a big problem, but im not saying thats fact.. and i dont the rumor mr khan supplied because why would nintendo do that? thats absolutely stupid because theyd make money off of the xbla release, just like they make licensing money off of the guitar hero games released every few months or so. guitar hero III sold best on the wii didnt it? why would nintendo do something so stupid, and lets not forget about call of duty.
i think maybe microsoft or nintendo or activision may have been too greedy in how much of the cut they should get.. so they couldnt come to an agreement. i think itd be fair if activision got a small cut for licensing fees, and nintendo could make a port with added wii controls to come to virtual console/wiiware, and msft have a version that could be played over xbox live.. both versions would have crisper graphics like the perfect dark update. msft makes money from their version and nintendo from theirs.
but yeah, im thinking more rationally than the big wigs most likely.
nofriendo @ Oct 26th 2009 10:43PM
First I would love to play the goldeneye remake on XBLA, but even if this rumor (blown out of proportion as it is) is true, and Nintendo was ultimately at fault,
so the fuck what.
Nintendo doesn't have to do shit for us xboxers. Why should they put one of their greatest games (consistently on "best ever" top ten lists) on another living, thriving, and needless to say competing console? Name a time in history when this has happened. Should Halo1 be on the wii2? Why does nintendo have to do it?
Captain Planet [Planeteer | Power of Captain Planet] @ Oct 26th 2009 2:54PM
I fear that if this game is true, it will suck.
NinjaJesus @ Oct 26th 2009 3:23PM
Yeah, they can try and recreate Goldeneye a billion times it's still going to suck...the closest thing to the original was Timesplitters imho...
Atr-Slzr-Ctr @ Oct 26th 2009 5:54PM
It was Perfect Dark (N64) IMO
Shagittarius @ Oct 26th 2009 2:57PM
I for one feel the Wii is the perfect platform for an N64 game.
WINterfang ( Now with the power to piss you off ) @ Oct 26th 2009 2:57PM
LOL Goldeneye haven't age very gracefully.
tmacairjordan87 @ Oct 26th 2009 2:59PM
What do you mean? That's a screen from this Wii version!
:P
ballistic3188 @ Oct 26th 2009 3:03PM
Yeah 64 days with the blockiness. but game engine wise i still love it. i love shooting their hand and watching them shake it in pain. then go for the head shot.
keep the game throw in dual analog drop the game's super auto aim and update the graphics and it will still play extremely well.
Giroro @ Oct 26th 2009 3:39PM
I think the controls are what have prevented goldeneye from aging well. I tried to emulate it with an xbox360 controller somewhat recently and it just didn't work out.
Storm Eagle [Resident Capcom Megafan] @ Oct 26th 2009 4:19PM
And it still looks better than the Wii version of Modern Warfare!
Anyone?
Oh my, this horse seems to be dead.
Atr-Slzr-Ctr @ Oct 26th 2009 5:58PM
ballistic3188, don't forget about the triangle boobs
KarlW @ Oct 26th 2009 3:00PM
If it looks as good as http://goldeneyesource.net, I'll be happy
PSN: John Paul Jones | last.fm http:bit.ly11nCrv @ Oct 26th 2009 3:09PM
one word: AWESOME
NinjaJesus @ Oct 26th 2009 3:25PM
If it's for the Wii I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Mr Khan @ Oct 26th 2009 3:02PM
If true, it's next to impossible that Wii is the only platform it's on, unless they're doing a proper revamp of the original Goldeneye (which we remember that Nintendo still has certain rights to). Most likely it's just another mediocre game that will feature on all platforms, though.
Jawmuncher (PSN & XBL:Jawmuncher) @ Oct 26th 2009 3:02PM
Still wish we would have got that XBLA arcade remake of Goldeneye
kevin @ Oct 26th 2009 3:09PM
we can once MS works out the small details ,since they own rare .
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Oct 26th 2009 3:17PM
Kevin its more complicated than that....the 007 license is the main thing holding it up....
NinjaJesus @ Oct 26th 2009 3:27PM
I agree I wish they would put it up on XBLA...I was sad at first when they decided not to but once I heard Perfect Dark was on it's way I was fine :D
Darth Bradwart, Dark Lord of the Sith @ Oct 26th 2009 3:34PM
I wish Rare would do an uncensored remake of Conker for XBLA.
kevin @ Oct 26th 2009 3:09PM
who sez MS hates nintendo, they are still letting rare make games for nintendo.
Darth Bradwart, Dark Lord of the Sith @ Oct 26th 2009 3:28PM
Eurocom. EUROCOM! Not Rare!
This is 'GoldenEye 2010' Not a port of 'GoldenEye'. The Bond license is currently held by Activision.
Rare is a near-dead developer on life support.
Top Cat @ Oct 26th 2009 3:07PM
Remember that jungle level in the original? That was SO difficult
religiousjedi @ Oct 26th 2009 4:23PM
Oh my God...don't remind me of that level on 00 Agent difficulty...the turret guns and Xenia dual wielding an RCP-90 and a motherfucking Grenade Launcher!!!! WTF?!?!?!?!
(But the underground caverns, where you're chasing Trevelyan, is much worse. STUPID SCIENTISTS AND GUARDS BLOWING UP THE RADIO!!!!!)
ballistic3188 @ Oct 26th 2009 5:14PM
the hardest by far was the control room. infinite enemies that come from every where you need to save the slow ass natalya while she slowly typed into the damn computer.
CheeziePotato @ Oct 26th 2009 3:10PM
I have a feeling that this game will suck.
m3nphls @ Oct 26th 2009 3:11PM
Ooohhhh Boy, I remember back in the days having 3 friends coming over and all 4 playing on a split screen for hours lol......those were the days.
CJLopez @ Oct 26th 2009 3:53PM
i remember that but on Turok 2 and perfect dark
Storm Eagle [Resident Capcom Megafan] @ Oct 26th 2009 4:15PM

I SWEAR TO GOD that if GoldenEye comes out on 360 with online Multiplayer I will go Gold just for that!!!
NO FUCKING LIE!!!
I LOVED that damn game....even tho when I use to play back in the day it was on a 19" Tube TV with 3 other people all looking at little ass screen trying to figure out where the person in the square next to you was
uncle jesse @ Oct 26th 2009 3:52PM
And someone picked Odd Job and you could never shoot him while he slid around hacking your knees out.
I always laughed at whoever thought it was cool to play as Jaws. Biggest target ever.
Man, I've had so many good times with this game. Friends that weren't into gaming would come over and play this for hours.
NintendoJunkie @ Oct 26th 2009 4:39PM
I remember playing Goldeneye on a 13" w/ splitscreen. Yeah my cousin owned my ass w/ that game. That was only because I was not accustomed to the N64 controller or the system for that matter, because I didn't own a N64 system until about 7 years ago when I picked one up @ an EB Games for $10. I think I got the system, Goldeneye, & Star Wars Shadows of The Empire for like $15.
Spartan [Planeteer | Power of Sunshine & Lollipops] @ Oct 26th 2009 6:16PM
uncle jesse
that was the comment of the year!!!
i literally laughed out loud for about a full minute.
so so many good memories.
best game ever: basement, rc90's, 60-0.
tyetheczar @ Oct 26th 2009 3:31PM
Well, whether there's going to be a new Goldeneye remake or not, we'll always have the multiplayer remake Goldeneye: Source for HL2.
Darth Bradwart, Dark Lord of the Sith @ Oct 26th 2009 3:24PM
*tear*
Eurocom, what have you done? You brought me that spectacular port of Hydro Thunder...and now you rape my childhood like this?
Please, let the classics die in peace.
Also, I actually liked Quantum of Solace. It was much better than Rogue Agent or Everything or Nothing.
kevin @ Oct 26th 2009 3:47PM
from thier website & the list of game posted there goldeneye is not one of them .
Darth Bradwart, Dark Lord of the Sith @ Oct 26th 2009 3:50PM
Are you an idiot? Since when do developers post every project they're working on?
Please, shut up.
Dan Bugglin @ Oct 26th 2009 3:55PM
Hmm if this is true, why haven't they shut down Goldeneye Source yet? That is SOP for when you're making an official remake, to shut down all the unofficial ones...
Storm Eagle [Resident Capcom Megafan] @ Oct 26th 2009 4:17PM
As much as I'd like to believe it, I think Goldeneye should stay where it belongs...on the N64. And it should stay how I remember it: full of hours and hours of endless fun, and not ruined by some remake like so many games before it.
That's not to say there is a small piece of me who is still hoping for a comeback.....
