It's not quite as titularly perplexing as the continuation of the Final Fantasy series, but we do have to wonder about Crave's decision to bring another game based on crab fishing show Deadliest Catch to market. If we've already reeled in the catch that's most deadly, what's the allure of returning to the water? Our hope is that an undiscovered species of crab with the faces of adorable babies will be at the center of An Equally Deadly But More Morally Taxing Catch in the spring of 2010 on Wii, PS3 and DS.
What makes much more sense is Crave's announcement that it will also be releasing a game based on the awesome Man vs. Wild to the 360, PS3, DS and Wii in the same time frame. A game based on a survivalist's battles with nature could make a really fresh take on the action adventure genre, but this is Crave we're talking about, so count on a series of minigames in which host Bear Grylls eats increasingly obscure and difficult to chew organs from a deer carcass.

I agree that surviorman is more real, but that's not why I'm watching frakking tv! I'm able to take certain liberties to be entertained, and watching a slightly fake show that is far more interesting is one of them.

I used to like Les Stroud, but then I realized he was a huge pussy. He couldn't survive to save his life - he is always starving throughout the whole week because he can't catch anything to eat - I've never once even seen him catch a fish. There is absolutely no point for him not to have a camera crew except that it makes him appear like a "real" survivalist. If I was stranded somewhere with him, I'd take my chances on my own.

@Hardcore
He probably does that cuz he wants to survive, and knows he's not in a serious situation enough to make risky decisions.
Yes, he sucks at that stuff in a good number of ways, but most times he just knows what he's been told, but no previous experience in it at all (example: Whenever he uses any of the new tools. :P)... unlike Bear, who's taught beforehand.
So yeah, he may be a "pussy", but at least he gets to live, get paid, and see his family the next day. He still gives off good information... unlike Bear... who shows you what you could do, but does it because there's a crew waiting to save his life if it kills him.

Actually i've only seen episodes where he has survived. If he couldn't survive to save his life then wouldn't he be dead after the first episode?

Yeah I was really hoping this would be about some sort of free video downloads, not game ideas.
But hey as long as my boy Bear is making that money I guess haha

Really? So what if some of the stuff he does/finds is planned or pointed out to him by his team. The stuff that you see him doing, he really does. If the point of the show is entertainment, then it does a good job, it's fairly entertaining. If the point of the show is survival education, again, it does a pretty good job.

I think he's pointing out the fact that the first season or two Bear Grylls pretended to be sent out in the wilderness with nothing but a camera and actually survived out there. He also talked about being SAS, even though he never actually went through much of their training regimen and was one of the support personnel. He greatly exaggerated who he was and what he was doing.
I agree the show is interesting, but after that fallout, I just sopped watching it. Knowing the guy effectively lied about who he was and what he was doing made me just not want to watch it anymore.
That said, a mini-game will be to keep the highway from being seen in shots to maintain realism.

Everything you see Bear Grylls do, some other guy has to do while carrying a video camera. I much prefer Survivorman. Les Stroud IS the cameraman. Also, he doesn't spend the whole show running his mouth about how brave he is for all the dangerous stuff he's doing.
Bear Grylls is as legit as Austin Stevens and Criss Angel.

Man, that's disappointing that Crave is making it. A game about wilderness survival could really be fascinating and something no one's done before. Before I heard many details about I Am Alive i hoped it would be like Man vs Wild

I guess you could say Man vs. Wild is more entertaining, he has a lot more shock and awe type stuff, lots of yelling and eating gross things for nearly no reason. For me it all comes down to the people themselves, I sort of respect Less Stroud as a person...a t.v. person at least, he seems real. I really don't respect Bear Grylls, hes just an actor playing a role and trying to make it seem real, I don't like that in a survival show.

no way man, Man vs Wild is way more educational. Les Stroud might be a tougher guy, but he just goes on surviving, for 7 days always, and teaching you about what he encounters. Bear will survive only as long as he has to, but go out of his way to teach you stuff. Like all those times when he gets naked and jumps into a frozen lake or peat bog to show you what to do if you get caught in one. Les would just say "yeah that's a peat bog, stay away"

Apparently Batman would really like to know what happens if he's caught in a peat bog.
He doesn't like people telling him to avoid things.

Well, yeah ... so? It was always kind of obvious that parts of it are staged and exaggerated. Another (obvious) example: the escaping from an island episode, where he acts like he's all alone, but really we know there's at least one cameraman with him.
It's meant to be entertaining and educational, not real.

Bear Grylls is a phony, baloney, five-star hotel-staying wuss. If you want real survival television Les Stroud's own Survivorman is the best and only game in town. Bear Grylls is like the WWE, Les Stroud is like olympiad wrestling.
