As expected, Nintendo didn't openly announce the new,
larger-screened DSi in response to a
Nikkei article mentioning it. In a statement to
Famitsu (as translated by
Siliconera), Nintendo said, "Our company is not doing any interviews. We believe this article is speculation." Of course, that is merely a comment on how
Nikkei arrived at that information, and
not a denial of the information.
It's familiar, as well. Nintendo of America said
almost exactly the same thing about
Nikkei's early reveal of the DSi, so we wouldn't dismiss the possibility of a DSi upgrade yet. We're checking in with Nintendo of America to find out more.

Tut tut Nintendo, if this was Sony, there'd be a video leak, a few pictures and forum post put up and taken down by now...
Archon (PSN: Archonik, XBL: DarkARHN) @ Oct 27th 2009 2:39PM
Yeah, Nintendo. What's wrong with You? :D Too lazy with all the money you're making to spread out a couple fake leaks?
HighFiveJesus @ Oct 27th 2009 2:49PM
Trade up to the new and improved DSi and get 70 bucks for your little screen DSi.
Power to the players.
Marco le Polo @ Oct 27th 2009 3:01PM
Nintendo, it's time for you to get screened.
squeehunter @ Oct 28th 2009 5:00AM
See? Make the screens LARGER.
Orion @ Oct 27th 2009 3:46PM
Ughhh, already? I'm glad I waited on the DSi (figured it would be the last of the DS units to be honest). Between this and the PSP, I've never seen a handheld with no graphical upgrades live on like this through so many iterations. This is getting to be a bit insane.
Silicon Siren @ Oct 27th 2009 3:52PM
You must be a youngling because the Gameboy was pretty absurd. I remember the day they announced Color Gameboy and was flipping the fuck out only to find out it was just a classic gameboy with a color shell.
Mr Mobius - the wandering artist @ Oct 27th 2009 4:05PM
Colour added something to the Gameboy graphics though - namely colour - which did improve it a lot, then you can't consider the GBA to merely be a re-edition of the Gameboy.
Orion @ Oct 27th 2009 4:10PM
Uh, no.. I'm not a youngling. I owned the NES and Gameboy when they first came out. The Color was the third in line and it made gameplay look significantly better. There were only 3 iterations of the GBA...now we're on 4 with this. It's getting to be a nightmare. The first year or two of a new Nintendo handheld are always awkward anyway.. waiting for games to release. It's almost better just to wait until the 2nd or 3rd unit comes out.... or now the 4th.
Ridgecity @ Oct 27th 2009 4:31PM
Ever heard of the Gameboy? it was kind of famous...
Ridgecity @ Oct 27th 2009 4:33PM
and since you are a sega fan you shouldn't complain because the Genesis was resold again and again every few years and that's without counting all the addons.
Silicon Siren @ Oct 27th 2009 4:35PM
I’m sorry you must have been. There was the Gameboy, Color Gameboy (also known as the Play it Loud Gameboy), Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Pocket Light, Gameboy Color and Gameboy Pocket Color. 6 total hardware revisions not including the huge special edition launches that had see-through cases or special limited edition colors.

No caps or exclamation point? This man is clearly faking.

Is it possible that they increase in size of screen has something to do with their plans to install Tegra?
Maxwell @ Nov 3rd 2009 6:20PM
