We may raise our snobby noses as we pass by cosplayers at conventions, but once a year it becomes socially acceptable for us to embrace our inner theater student and don a disguise. Being people who spend quite a bit of time writing about or playing video games, we tend to err on the side of nerdery when it comes to Halloween outfits (shocking, we know). The folks at Fangamer coax this urge all the more when they release a full outfit of Earthbound's hero, Ness, on their site. Considering the striped "Shirtness," the accompanying "Earth Bounder" (the yo-yo) and the guarantee that it'll arrive before Halloween, the $54.99 asking price seems almost acceptable. Almost.

Is anything they sell licensed?

No, but they try not to make it obvious that what they sell is based off of a video game, in case Nintendo does get sue-happy. Seriously, if you didn't know what Earthbound was, and you saw someone wearing this shirt, you'd just think it was a simple striped shirt, right?

Yeah, but I'm talking about the, like, Metal Gear stuff and stuff.
I like what they're making, but I'm just a bit worried someone might go after them (and I'd also like it if something of my purchase goes towards the companies that own these IPs, etc.)

I actually ordered two of the sets. I turned my youngest brother into an Earthbound nut not too long ago, and he's been trying to find a shirt like this for ages, so I got us both one so that he can be Ness for Halloween, while I'll be Ninten.
