Aussie Borderlands fixed, requires another Steam download

GamesonNet reports that the uncensored version of Borderlands is now available for Australian Steam users. 2K Games is asking all users who preloaded the game to delete the previous content and re-download the eight gigglebyte title. That should fix the issue of Aussie Steam users receiving the "low violence" version of the game, a laughable mistake after the OFLC granted the "high violence" edition entry into the country.
Forum users are commenting that there are alternative fixes available out there, but let's all just agree that re-downloading the game is probably the safest and most "official" way of handling the issue. Of course, redownloading 8GB is not going to make Aussies who have a download limit from their ISP happy.

I wonder if the boxed version of the game has the same issue or does the retail one not connect to steam?

Btw, is there a clear way to check? Im out of the loop and didn't know it had even been censored.

I just got a message from amazon telling my that my preordered borderlands got pushed back and I should expect it sometime in November. I wonder if its related somehow...

The retail one does not connect to Steam.
Real shame - we've been seeing this a lot lately. First Torchlight issues (but primarily only for those who bought the game on Steam!) and now this. I likes me some Steam, but come on...

What problems were there with Torchlight?

That penis is still there.

Good bye monthly limit. -_-

This is why I love Internode. With a little help from the SteamWatch application, all my Steam downloads are unmetered. :D

Attention, Australian Steam users! Go into File->Settings, and choose the Downloads tab. Under there, choose the download region that matches your ISP. You now have faster Steam downloads (probably), and downloads that do not count against your monthly limit.

Problems with the resolution and Fullscreen mode working, error messages literally every time you launch the game, 100% unable to apply Anti-Aliasing, a problem with saved games being deleted, etc.
