Disney Epic Mickey screens and art are suitably epic

Click to make more epic.
From the looks of things, Warren Spector and his Junction Point Studios aren't doing a Mickey Mouse job of their, well ... Mickey Mouse job. Disney Interactive has opened the floodgates today, releasing a torrent of screenshots and artwork from the now-properly-announced Disney Epic Mickey, the Wii-exclusive platformer that sees the iconic rodent painting his way through a twisted Magic Kingdom.
According to Disney, the idea behind the game didn't originate with Spector -- rather, an internal group at DIS, called the Think Tank, um, thought up the idea of Mickey in "turmoil." Working with that initial pitch, Spector created the Epic Mickey game. The concept is certainly intriguing, but we'll have to wait until the game launches in fall 2010 to draw our final conclusion.

Ryan @ Oct 28th 2009 3:37PM
Coming soon...
I guess theyre fixing it now.
Preston @ Oct 28th 2009 3:39PM
I guess this means Mickey's going to be fighting Big Daddies.
Ryan @ Oct 28th 2009 3:40PM
I guess it really is a small world after all.
Brodo @ Oct 28th 2009 3:52PM
Ummm... this game looks like spongebob squarepants: battle for bikini bottom on the Gamecube.
Not really terribly Epic, but hey whatever floats your boat.
And maybe it will turn out to be awesome, but I doubt it (b/c its on the wii)
And yes, I do own a wii, so i hope this game is good
GewurztraminerX @ Oct 28th 2009 4:57PM
Well, I never played Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom on the Gamecube so I'll go ahead and trust that you're the expert.
Brysonial the Bison @ Oct 28th 2009 8:14PM
Holy poopy diapers Brodo's right that does look like sponge bob battle for bikini bottom!

i played Spongebob BfBB, it's a really fun platformer, especially if you enjoyed the show. The Mickey shots look nice.
Marius @ Oct 28th 2009 3:39PM
I should have expected this, it is a Wii game after all
SpyderTaco (PSN: Ar4chNova89) @ Oct 28th 2009 3:41PM
I'm glad you decided to take the time to comment.
Don't worry, no one will know you're trolling. I won't tell.
Mr Khan @ Oct 28th 2009 3:42PM
Yes, it's colorful, imaginative, yet also intricately designed
Exactly what you should expect.
Marius @ Oct 28th 2009 3:45PM
im sure you manchildren will enjoy it
carmaction @ Oct 28th 2009 3:48PM
Marius eats dickweiners.
Mr Khan @ Oct 28th 2009 3:50PM
Speaking of manchildren, have you seen the outrage brewing over Morgan Webb's comment about Mario Galaxy?
http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=102034
"Morgan Webb says Ratchet and Clank Future is for everyone, while Super Mario Galaxy is aimed at kids...insulting to play as an adult"
Marius @ Oct 28th 2009 3:53PM
I agree with Morgan Webb, face it people the Wii is for children and soccer moms, and your casual gamer girl, and of course you manchildren
tmacairjordan87 @ Oct 28th 2009 3:53PM
"im sure you manchildren will enjoy it"
Says the sony fanboy with a little big planet avatar.
Marius @ Oct 28th 2009 3:56PM
Technically I wasn't an adult when I bought LBP and Joystiq fluctuates my avatars
Alton Brown [ XBL: LordToastington] @ Oct 28th 2009 4:03PM
Morgan Webb can suck it.
Orion @ Oct 28th 2009 4:03PM
Yes.. magically, in under a year, he's gone from child to adult. Yea, some how I'm not buying that. So do you not play LBP because it's now too kiddie for you? Something tells me you might STILL BE a kid with that attitude.
I'm not saying Epic Mickey looks great.. personally I think it looks worse than the Gamecube game that came out years and years ago, but not wanting to play it simply because it's cartoony is stupid and immature.
Marius @ Oct 28th 2009 4:04PM
on second thought, I disagree with her only because Ratchet and Clank is also for manchildren
JXCgunrunna @ Oct 28th 2009 4:09PM
Being an adult is much more a state of mind. Just because you turned 18 does not mean you are an adult and being under 18 doesnt mean you are less mature than someone over 18. Marius will obviously never reach that level of maturity.
Mr. Fister @ Oct 28th 2009 4:10PM
In response to the Morgan Webb comment:
That comment was just arrogant and hypocritical. I remember them giving Super Mario Galaxy a 5 out of 5 and saying it was by far the best Mario game they had played in a very long time. I don't know if that's what she wanted to say or if the network made her say that to promote Ratchet and Clank, but my respect for her just went down a couple notches.
tmacairjordan87 @ Oct 28th 2009 4:11PM
Ratchet's a lot more core and adult than LBP is, so I don't know what you're trying to gain here. All you're doing is making yourself look really bad, and hypocritical.
Marius @ Oct 28th 2009 4:17PM
w/e all I know is this game looks like an EPIC FAIL
SoshiKitai @ Oct 28th 2009 4:24PM
"w/e all I know is this game looks like an EPIC FAIL"
oh yes... using the phrase "epic fail" makes you so mature.
dark_inchworm (stronger than never, ever before) @ Oct 28th 2009 4:30PM
"Technically I wasn't an adult when I bought LBP and Joystiq fluctuates my avatars"
Wow.
I think you need to retire from this thread.
Marius @ Oct 28th 2009 4:54PM
you talk about maturity when a post like this
"Marius eats dickweiners."
gets upvoted, oookkay

The Dark Wayne [Planeteer: Power of the Batusi] @ Oct 28th 2009 5:01PM
that's called irony you fucking idiot. It was indeed childish and immature, which is why it was funny. Jesus Christ.
Prof. Von Manifest (aka Dallas McCoy of the Cocaine Imperium) [PSN: Manifest37] @ Oct 28th 2009 5:12PM
God damn dark wayne, eating dicks from sun up to sun down.
Like that?
samfish [is sad there is no Gene in Tats v Cap =( ] @ Oct 28th 2009 5:12PM
I admire you, Marius. It takes a real man to go right on doing what you're doing after you've clearly made a level 10 ass out of yourself.
Protodude @ Oct 28th 2009 7:17PM
I don't think I've ever facepalmed this hard in my life...
My face really hurts.
RobLink (Alex Kidd incarnate) @ Oct 28th 2009 5:19PM
Yeah, well done Marius *slow clap*
Marius @ Oct 28th 2009 5:48PM
Dark Wayne
Of course I would have expected you to throw a tantrum, dont worry Im still looking for my $10 copy of that Batman game
HeXeN @ Oct 28th 2009 5:55PM
Is been a while since Morgan actually said something that made sense, don't know why you all are shocked. All Mario games and LBP are at aimed children; maybe an adult will buy it here and then but it's still childish.
The Dark Wayne [Planeteer: Power of the Batusi] @ Oct 28th 2009 6:10PM
@Prof No, not at all like that. It's not ironic because i didnt call people manchildren
@Marius "Fucking" makes a tantrum? Welcome to the internet, suck a bag of dicks
Marius @ Oct 28th 2009 6:12PM
there he goes again
Suichimo @ Oct 28th 2009 6:59PM
"Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence."
- C.S. Lewis
iofthestorm @ Oct 29th 2009 3:45AM
Ouch, being called out as a sony fanboy by tmac of all people. I think you've reached the 8th circle of Joystiq comment hell.
Archon (PSN: Archonik, XBL: DarkARHN) @ Oct 28th 2009 3:40PM
I don't know... Am I seriously the only one who can't get excited for this game or any of the Kingdom Hearts games?
Mickey Mouse? I don't know. My son might love it, but me? I just don't see the appeal.
Archon (PSN: Archonik, XBL: DarkARHN) @ Oct 28th 2009 3:42PM
Said Mr. Kurczaczek avatar.
McBrick @ Oct 28th 2009 3:45PM
I dunno. One of my favorite Genesis games ever was Castle of Illusion. And I was old then.
Archon (PSN: Archonik, XBL: DarkARHN) @ Oct 28th 2009 3:49PM
Oh yeah, I know some great games of old that incorporated cartoon characters etc. But, I don't know. I just don't feel like this game is appealing to me in any way. Huh.
BigD145 @ Oct 28th 2009 4:12PM
Mickey isn't all that epic. Some of the other things are.
KingOfHearts @ Oct 28th 2009 4:18PM
To be honest, I was never a fan of KH either... I've played the first one (my friend won't let me play the others so I don't ruin the story), and I didn't like it..
Monica Dickey @ Oct 28th 2009 5:27PM
Yeah I love Disney but I just don't know about this game. Maybe my nephews will play it and then I'll get into it or something, but it looks kind of dark... Who is this game really aimed at?
KeenCommander @ Oct 28th 2009 3:40PM
This game looks epic, however it does not look quite Bioshock 2 epic...so what's with the screens?
Jason Statham (Has a ps3 now) @ Oct 28th 2009 3:41PM
What I was wondering as well.
carmaction @ Oct 28th 2009 3:41PM
This isn't what I imagined after seeing that intense concept art.
Also, I hate the word 'epic' due to overdoseage via the internet.
Jason k @ Oct 28th 2009 3:47PM
I totally agree with you.
This is nothing compared to the concept art.
