Agreed, that's just a bummer. If it stayed that way then I'd wager more people would have played it and it would have had more power behind it. Oh well, I'm sure it'll still be good but I'd rather play it on a traditional controler if I was given the choice.

I think it was a bad idea to make this information public.

Why not have made it for all systems maby the graphics would at least be good then the graphics on epic mickey are bad for wii, and thats pretty dang bad. I mean xbox, play station, and computer all have the ability for great graphics. Wii not so much. The concept art for epic mickey was amazing and actually made me somewhat excited for a mickey mouse game. WHAT excited for a mickey mouse game, now that is epic. But apperently the graphics are not turning out as we expected so for now bye bye hipe.

The problem is when a situation like Brutal Legend happens. They aimed the game for the big budget game market, and spent a big coin for it, Famous developers, famous actors with big paycuts, a big hype for it by all blogs (where they seem to appear as if they never actually played the game or were prohibited from talking), a massive soundtrack full of great music, a massive promotional campaign from tv ads to Jack Black public appearances promoting the game, etc. etc.

BUT...

Once the reviews came in, EVERYONE trashed the game, and the people that could have bought the game knew it sucked, and bought something else.

This game would have done 10x better on the Wii, because Wii game reviews don't matter. Now think about the massive market it has, no interest in reviews, and the appeal Mickey Mouse has with the Super Mario Bros crowd.

You have to be crazy to go for the HD fps crowd. with a game like this that could be easily forgotten, where as the Wii profits will pay for the HD sequel.

After seeing today's first screens, it definitely looks like they made the wrong decision. Then again it looks bad even for a Wii game, so now I don't really have any faith that they could have done better on 360/ps3.

Show Warren Specter some damn respect. I have full faith in this game, the graphics aren't even that bad.

Cmon, that's borderline early ps2 right there. Developers get my praise and respect when they make a good game, but they do not get the benefit of the doubt with the next game. They have to constantly impress, or face backlashes like the ones all over the internet today from this poor unveiling. It's supposed to keep people from becoming lazy.

If Specter's such a god, then he should know that your first impression is the most important whether it's in the business world or life in general.

OK, so what if the graphics aren't the greatest. First of all, the game isn't close to finished (Fall 2010 release). Secondly, are you saying every game before the PS2 is bad due to graphical limitations?

Come on, you know what I'm talking about here. Don't play that game with me, I watch enough Fox News to know when someone's trying to spin things.

But I'll entertain you anyway, in case someone actually doesn't get it. No, ps2 graphics were fine....5 years ago when the last gen was current gen. I don't expect ps2 graphics on a higher powered system. It's pure laziness.

Ok, well, like I said, the game isn't finished. I predict they are gonna cel-shade it before it's finalized.

@ArchiGamer

Sure it has cartoony textures and object geometry in the screenshots, but this game is not, i repeat IS NOT CEL-SHADED. (Borderlands isn't cel-shaded either, I would also like to point that out.)

Anyways, Epic Mickey's visuals kinda reminds be of Beyond Good & Evil, except that BG&E has better graphics.

you guys got it wrong. The first thing that should be the focus on a game is the gameplay. NOT GRAPHICS.

For a game that's still ONE YEAR away, you are expecting too much. and considering the Wii HD is going to be released in two months according to Gizmodo.com, they gotta still add HD, lol.

I totally thought Michel Ancel should be behind this game. No disrespect to anyone involved, but BGE was a very entertaining game and it did manage to be epic in its own way.

For the record, while I agree that the screens released today are really awful, Wii screens usually look awful. Compare this picture of Metroid Prime 3 with this video:

Hopefully Epic Mickey looks better in motion.

At least this explains why the screenshots are so far away from the style of the concept art. We now know that the concept art is what the game WOULD have looked like on the PC, PS3, and 360...

...I guess.

Exactly. The second I saw the concept art I knew it was impossible. But this style isn't that bad (not as good, but not bad).

No, it doesn't.
You have no idea how art industry-related jobs work, do you? The final product NEVER looks like the initial concept stuff. EVER. This is a 99% fact.

This would have looked pretty much identical if it ended up on PS360, I can guarantee you.

Because of this, I'm worried that Disney is going to demand that KHIII be a Wii exclusive.

Basically, Nintendo would TOTALLY COCKBLOCK my purchase of a PS3.

It always made more sense for KH3 to go Wii exclusive, and Epic Mickey will be a great litmus test towards that, though 358/2 is also a good example (to prove that the franchise can thrive on Nintendo platforms)

Though if they want to sell the most in Japan, it makes the most sense to just make it a DS game overall...

pathetic. This would have been so much better on the next-gen consoles. At least port this over to the PS3 with significant enhancements when the Motion controller comes out.

Wasn't this supposed to be running the the Source Engine? From the Wikipedia page on Warren Spector,
"In 2005, it was announced that he had established a new studio Junction Point Studios,[4] where he is working on an unspecified game to be built with Valve's Source engine and released through Valve's Steam digital distribution system."
Now obviously it won't be seeing a steam release but is may entirely be possible that that they stuck with the source engine. I see the signs of it, that it has angular brush based geometry, but I see no displacement mapping, which is used in great amounts in Source, to give smooth terrain-like surfaces.

But I don't see how a small team like Junction Point could have possible ported the Source Engine to run on the Wii which completely lacks DirectX support. It took a whole team at EA just to port it to the PS3.

I'll have 14 wii games after christmas, if you can't find any games you're doing it wrong.

Come on man, at least when I was doing what you're doing I was faking it. I can clearly tell you're not.

I'll post this here as well.

"Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence."

Quite the contrary, I'm sure a majority of kids have never even seen a Mickey cartoon, it's "old". They don't care about Mickey Mouse when they have their Twilight and Jonas Brothers.

The true fact of the matter is they are targeting a more mature "hardcore-casual" audience with this. If you think you are too old for this, then you obviously aren't mature enough. Like when Flower came out, people were like "lolgay" however it's one of the best titles out there imo.
