We'd thought the Grand Theft Auto franchise had taken us to lovingly rendered simulacra of every metropolitan city-type known to man, but apparently, we thought wrong. In the back of the GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City manual, a fake advertisement points to the series' "Next Stop" (seen above). Of course, the destination being teased is quite obviously the lovely town of Clip Artington, Minnesota. Surely you've heard of Clip Artington! It's renowned for its apple butter festivals.
On the off chance the teaser is pointing to a different city, we've ... we've really got no idea. Looks like a desert, though, right? And a mountain? And some conical, obsidian monoliths? What? Trees? Oh, yeah, that makes a lot more sense. We'd love to hear your speculation in a well-written, thought-provoking comment! There's a place for those right after the jump, you know.

Why credit VGChartz for this when the "Source" you linked to clearly mentions where the image came from?

The next city location has always been revealed on the news in the game before, via football teams.
I can't remember GTA III, but in Vice city it was the 'San Andreas something' and in San Andreas it was the 'Liberty City cocks and beavers'. I only really took cabs in GTAIV, so if anyone heard a sports team, the chances are that's where the next game will be based.

Don't care where it goes, as long as the place is interesting to play in and original somewhat, going from New York to LA isn't exactly original for a game ¬_¬

I always heard mention in GTA games of "Carcer City" and I believe it was the city based in Manhunt. I looks to be a midwest city, so maybe we're looking towards Chicago or something. But I don't believe Chicago or anywhere in the midwest for that matter has many sprawling mountains and pine trees. It would be cool if it were Seattle (where I was born) - but Seattle's not really known for its gritty crime - only its very well stocked antidepressant pharmacies.

I dont think it has to do with GTA at all. I think they are referring to Red Dead Redemption. I believe it is their next game they are coming out with, and the kinda desert, tree thing look could fit the wild west. I really think its Red Dead Redemption and not a GTA hint.

I definitely think Josh is on the right path... Red Dead Redemption has a release date of March or April 2010... It looks to me that Red Dead Redemption is going to be a Wild West GTA (I can't wait to play it cuz it looks amazing)...
We prob won't hear anything definitive about next GTA until "E3"... Though I definitely think they should take the GTA series overseas... London would be an awesome city for a GTA... But they need to go back to making it more "San Andreas-ish" where you could customize vehicles, buy properties/businesses, turf wars, etc...

Very likely. The Weazel trailer just made it a bit more obvious. It can probably be Max Payne 3 due to the colors of the tease.

Well, it's quite obvious to me that it will be France. If you take a look at France's geography, this looks very much like the north-west part of the country.
Posted: Oct 28th 2009 6:42PM OCJP said
I highly doubt that... The only GTA game they might ever make in Europe or anywhere else in the world for that matter will probably be London. It's English speaking (predominately) and London has more mystique for crime than the NW of France. Paris you ponder? Maybe. But doubtful.

JP,
I completely agree, there's absolutely nothing very intersting about France's northwest. It's just the very 1st and only thing that came up to my mind when I saw that image.

IGN had a story about a year ago about a leak with info about a GTA in Sydney, Australia. Personally, I want a European GTA because of all the architecture and the story potential. I mean, after about 6-7 games set in the States, fuck the US.

Well, I would guess by the little picture of mountains, greenery and trees, that this may be an ode to San Andreas where they combined parts of Cali and Nevada. It will probably be another sprawling, scenic game like San Andreas was, combining parts of different states, again...maybe. That's just an educated guess but whatever the case, I hope they go hard in the storyline with options galore and 2 possible characters to play as, like I mentioned a few times before. Now that Heavy Rain is coming, I want a combo of that and some parts of the classic GTA franchise.
Don't regress, Rockstar, just because so many of the immature were mad that GTA IV wasn't over the top like San Andreas or that ridiculous Saints Row copycat non-sense. I like the "grownup" approach of GTA IV and would love to see it advanced to a new level.

What if its referring to more than one state like say San Andreas and Vice City maybe we can travel to London too like say a Global GTA maybe it would be called GTA: The Universe that would be sick and maybe it could also take us to Tokyo. That would be SICK but until now all we are doing is just guessing and thinking but that would be cool if we go to London but to be honest I REALLY miss San Andreas and I woud LOVE to see a modern Vice City. So I guess we'll just have to wait and see when March 2010 comes(which by the way is my Birthday Rockstar so if you mess this up I'ma HUNT you down lol )

I'm going to guess Miami (which is known as Vice City) and the Everglades.

- The shape makes me think of "bretagne", a part of france, but there is nothing interesting there (and I know what I'm talking about, I'm french).
- The seagull theater makes me think of a sea-coast city, maybe Seattle, dunno.
- The gentleman makes me think of europe, surely England. (I'm sure it will be in europe anyway !!)
- The mountains and pine trees make me think of Canada.
And all together, I think they are making us crazy with this, cause it should be in vice city, with some gang features, planes, maybe jetski. In this period, 2009-2011. I don't think they will do it in 90's or even 80's.
San Andreas would be very very big in data, imagine, many feature with this graphics... Ppfwwaaa, not for now, let them work on their technology, maybe a San Andreas could be possible for 2015-2020. So Vice City for the V one.
But the indications go everywhere, europe, Canada, Seattle.
Anyway, can't imagine which vehicles we will have, imagine planes with wings's damages features :D !!!!!! ....Anyway I hope they will do a silent gun !!

I don't really know about the "teaser" on the manual.
But from what I've heard, we may be re-visiting jolly ole
London, England again. As far as I'm concerned, it would be a good
change of pace. Let's see how those whacky brits run there orginized crime.
