After Game 1, MLB 09's World Series predictions look good

At first, we doubted MLB 09's simulation of the World Series between the NY Yankees and the Philadelphia ... Phillies (a bit redundant, no?). However, the Phillies' dominant performance in Game 1 of the series made us reconsider our position.

According to the San Diego Studio-developed baseball game, the World Series will last all seven games this year, with Philadelphia ultimately the victor. So far, MLB has correctly predicted the victor of Game 1.

This may be upsetting to New York fans, especially as the Yankees are the heavily favored team in this match-up. However, video game AI has had a pretty successful track record so far. Look at Madden, which has managed to correctly predict the winner of 6 out of the last 7 Super Bowl games. We'll find out soon enough if MLB has the same accuracy.

Baseball is a dead sport, but it is kinda cool that a simulation in a game can make valid predictions on sports. Lets see what happens with the rest of the series.

baseball is definitely not a dead sport. i don't see why you would say that. if you're a football fan that watches your team play once a week rather than 5/7 days a week maybe that's the problem. like you said we'll see what happens. i'm always happy to see NY lose.

I have always been a huge football fan (soccer in US) and even that I don't follow too often baseball I enjoy watching it from time to time, anyway I really hope Phillies win the series.

Baseball is a dead sport? lol You are a moron. I guess that's why baseball players make more than any other American athletes...because the sport is dead. Wake up dude, just because YOU don't like baseball doesn't mean it's dead to the rest of the world.

As for the article. I hate both teams but the author clearly shows he knows nothing about baseball by saying the Yankees are heavily favored. That is completely backwards with every experts prediction and both teams match up very closely. In fact, the Phillies actually match up well with the Yanks.
