After the first month? I was at level 30 after the first 12 hours. This game is a piece of shit.

I too would like word on where the 360 version is.

Funny enough, I just resubscribed to this on the PC version. So these little perks should help. The music is awesome. The only downside is even my powerful PC trembles at the sight of all graphical features being turned up to max.

I'm guessing you're another person who's only experience of the game was in during the first few months :/

It's actually improved a lot. It's at a stage where given players I think it could be considered a really good MMO. But it has the reputation of the bad launch to live down which prevents the game from attracting players who might really like the game.

FYI, Gen, first impressions are the most important, and Age of Conan arrived to our house naked and covered in feces screaming about how 9/11 was an inside job.

I'll never understand the complaints on Conan's launch. I was playing from the early access days (the Saturday before it launched for non-preorders) and I had a great time with it.

Regardless, if you're interested in the game, they have a free trial available to check it out. They've added a lot of free content over the past 18 months (new zones, quests, dungeons, raids) and revamped large areas of the game mechanics (PVP got a new system, crafting got changed, and they overhauled the RPG mechanics to make stats and loot matter more, along with completely reitemizing the game to fit those changes). There's also an expansion coming out next year.

AoC's launch was fantastic. No one complained through the first 30 levels. It was stable, well thought out, design was great, and fun.

The problem was, that all went away from 30-40-50-60-70-80

You didn't bother playing the game if you think launch was bad, the launch was one of the best out there, the problem is it wasn't worth playing a month after launch.

Why doesn't Conan try and be permanently cheaper than WoW so that they actually have a chance? If you want to compete with WoW you're going to have to be cheaper and different in a good way. If Conan can afford to give a 45% discount then they certainly can afford making the basic subscription cheaper

Champions online is currently making the former mistake by not being much cheaper. And what happened to the marketing?

To be honest, if you play any MMO that isn't WoW, you'll see how much people who DO play those MMOs hate WoW with a passion. I've played every MMO at some point, even if just for the free month, and I've seen the same story every place I've gone. People are either former WoW players who burnt out on it (like myself) or ones who have zero interest.

In Conan's case in particular, it's also an MMO that requires an actual video card to play. That rules out maybe 80% of the WoW install base.

Sorry conan. I appreciate the offer, but i've sworn off MMORPGs for the forseeable future. Maybe next time...

"Luckily"?!?!?!? My 70 Shaman weeps for his poor, questless future amidst the swirling ether of the internets, while my bank account and social life dance a happy, cheerful jig

If your bank account trembled at $15 a month.. I do pity you.

Say what you will about MMOs ability to crush time and social lives, but at $15 a month (two movie theater visits) the cost is not a huge deal.

I was one of the sorry saps to actually buy this game when it originally came out. The game isn't actually as horrible as everyone makes it out to be, but i do agree the subscription fee should be lowered permanently. I think 10 instead of 15 should be sufficient, maybe not even low enough for everyone, but kind of a half way point agreement..... Phantasy star universe has a 10 dollar subscription and it isn't doing as bad as funcom...

But I'm on the internet, which makes me a 'nobody', which means I care.

Makes sense, right?

Really, I was on Uncyclopedia and decided this post would work here.

I never tried it when it first came out. I am a casual player and just tried it out a few months ago, and I have been having a really good time. I have really enjoyed the game all the way up to the 80th level. Everyone likes different types of MMO's, but this one has been one of the few that has really been fun. If you haven't checked it out, or haven't played it in a while, I'd suggest giving it a try.

It's definitely not as bad as some people seem to think. I loved the hell out of it for the first couple of months I played, but then I just got tired of it and haven't really felt the need to go back. Don't think these new prices will change that, they would at least have to cut the regular subscription cost first.
