DSi LL coming to Europe in Q1 2010 as 'DSi XL'

Nintendo may have announced Japanese plans for the new DSi LL first, but it's not taking long for news about other regions to come out. Nintendo of Europe confirmed to Videogamer that the giant handheld will be released in that region as the DSi XL, in the already-packed Q1 time frame. "The retail price of the Nintendo DSi XL is expected to be higher than that of the Nintendo DSi," the statement reads. "Further details will be released soon."

The Japanese DSi LL will be available in Wine Red, Dark Brown (above), and Natural White, and will come preloaded with Easy Meikyo Kokugo Dictionary, Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters and Brain Age Express: Math. There is no word yet about the color variation or preloaded software selection for the European version.

Unless the upgrade the resolution of the games this device really wont be of any use except to seniors/people with vision problems. I'll stick with my DSi (which I'm getting fro Dell tomorrow for $130 :D)

Resolution ain't a big thing to a lot of people. Can't even begin to count the amount of 30+ year olds I know who have 19" monitors set to 800x600 resolution.

no one should buy this...... not because it is a bad product but if this gets good sales then Nintendo will see there is still no reason to make an actual new hand held and keep re-releasing the ds....

Faced with the choice I still prefer using the original DS phat; the buttons are just so much more friendly!

Ah yes, finally, we have a handheld moon to complement the planet that is the original Xbox.

I am sooooo glad I didn't buy a DSi yet. Part of me was waiting waiting for new colors. I now have to chance for not only a nice color but a larger screen.

DSi LL will be 50% heavier than DSi. I think it is not a good idea to make a handheld heavier than before.

Given the larger size, Nintendo should have thrown some rumble in.

But you can't have motion sensing with rumble...

Very sneaky Nintendo. By making this a larger size screen with a larger size stylus and adding in practical applications for adults, I've come to the conclusion that this is a DS that will later in 2010 also be a portable eReader like the Kindle. I can just see Nintendo striking a deal with an eBook distributer now.

i didn't even mean this as some sort of europe versus america thing, just that nintendo always put everyone else way behind japan.

Really i don't think that the size of the screens is that important what i really want is for the graphics to improve. They are Crap! But since i waited for it i still have a ds original lol its so cool! I knew they where gonna make an upgrade and i guess i have to get it because my screens getting as bit worn out.
