Bruckheimer? I'll pass.

Let's face it, it's not like the games had a great story in the first place.

Yeah! Why have that guy when we should get someone with some REAL talent?

How can this movie fail? If we learned anything from October Sky its that Jake Gyllenhaal can perform any role beautifully. Ranging from a southern coal miner's son or a gay cowboy or even a middle eastern ninja. Everything he touches turns to gold.

Is it just me or does Bruckheimer look like someone you'd want to punch in the face just by the way he looks. This isn't really a remark about his work or his ability to produce. He's not rich for no reason... he's probably really smart and likable too... there's just something about the way he looks. He just looks like someone who has a punchable face. Same goes for George Lucas, Michael Moore, and Spencer Pratt.

@Bobby Kotick 2: Echoes

You know, I'm beginning to think that Uwe Boll came before his time. I've been looking at the responses to the Assassin's Creed 2: Lineage short, and it seems like everyone thinks it's amazing and should be made into a movie. And while I do _like_ it, honestly the script, acting, the ...fighting (if it can really be called that), and CG feel like something out of a Uwe Boll-quality film.

If Uwe Boll had been born a decade later and had come into his own making video game-based shorts, maybe his stuff would be considered fantastic as well.

Or maybe game-base movies are only truly "good" as short-films. idk.

*SIR* Ben Kingsley!!!! Apparently he's very touchy about that, no matter how many bad movies he is in...

Eh I think he's still a good enough actor to be given respect though. I don't hate Robert De Niro despite all the crap that guy's been in lately.

"It certainly doesn't help that Ben Kingsley, the one who starred in the ill-fated and ill-conceived film version of BloodRayne"

You shut your mouth! The guy's in one terrible movie and you act like he raped your dog. I'll have you know BloodRayne would have destroyed my eyeballs if it wasn't for Sir Kingsley.

Yeah, being in a bad movie or two doesn't change the fact that he's a great actor.

I'm guilty of falling asleep through many movies, but Bloodrayne has the dubious distinction of being the first and only movie I have STOPPED while watching. I vaguely remember seeing Michelle Rodriguez underwater before saying "fuck this" and pulling it out of the PS2.

Surely I'm not the only one?

Not to take away from any of his accomplishments but he's been in a lot more than ONE bad movie. Bloodrayne is just the most relevant being that it's also a videogame movie.

Kingsley is in a ton of movies period. He's one of the most prolific actors in the business. Because of that, yes he will end up in some bad films. He's still one of the greatest actors of his generation and turned in arguably the best lead acting performance in the history of cinema in Gandhi (and deservedly won an Oscar for it).

"It's also distracting that both Dastan and Tamina speak the Queen's English ... where's the Persia in here?"

I think the Persia was taken out of the movie when they got a lead actor that looks more like a prince of Sweden.

Caution: Do not look directly at actor. Glare may cause blindness.

Does anyone really want to read subtitles throughout an entire movie? I for one found it quite annoying in the Passion. Sure it's realism, but come on.

How hard is it to hire an actor that actually looks Persian? Maybe Hollywood will make a movie were a Tom Cruise is a samurai.... oh wait, damn.

In all fairness Cruise's character in The Last Samurai wasn't Japanese, he was a soldier from America. It's not the same as casting a Gyllenhaal as the Prince.

Jerry Bruckheimer may have a spotty track record, but he has produced some good (Pirates of the Caribbean) and some great (Black Hawk Down) movies. He has a talented director and some talented performers working on this one, so I am optimistic.

The POP developers said they based the prince on Chen Chang as Dark Cloud from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. It would have been a lot more interesting to see what the crouching tiger team could have done with POP with Chen Chang as the lead.

Why does Joystiq not put a link to the trailer in the article? Unless I missed it.

i really dont see the problem of them speaking the right way to speak English. After all, the american english just sounds trashy to me, and I'm American. Learning another language is hard for the actors so the old English is much better. And in the video game, they did speak old english.

Seriously.......... I just............... I don't know.

The man can make a good action sequence, but he really thinks that the plots of his movies are "epic", and thereby justify some 2 to 3 hour run time, when in fact it's just a popcorn flick, which means I'm stuck looking at my watch in theaters. Seriously, he reminds me a lot of Kojima in that aspect, except with massively less subplot and themes. I'll give it it's fair shake, but Bruckheimer rarely leaves me very endearing towards his work.

Brucjheimer's a producer, i won't even touch on artistic merits from his films because he's more of a businessman than anything else.

However, what his interest on the Prince of Persia franchise means is that videogame based movies may finally leave the B-movie swamp and play with the big boys, which is only beneficial for the industry as a whole.

Videogames are already beating movies in numbers, it would be interesting to see the tides turning and videogames becoming the actual main product that spawn film tie-ins instead of the opposite.
