New movie-themed Elite bundles for the UK
VideoGamer.com is reporting that a supplement in this week's issue of MCV is advertising two new Xbox 360 Elite bundles. Both bundles are themed around recent movie releases, specifically Star Trek and Transformers 2. The Star Trek bundle comes with an extra controller, a copy of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek stored on a USB drive -- shaped like the Star Fleet logo -- as well as 800
with which to buy "Star Trek PDLC." Let's just hope you don't have to waste those points on Star Trek D-A-C. A Transformers 2 bundle is in the works as well, featuring an extra controller, a copy of the movie on a Bumblebee-shaped USB drive and the Transformers 2 game.
Release date, pricing, and the size of the included hard drive (120GB or "Super Elite" 250GB) are not specified in the ad. However, as MCV is a UK magazine, it's possible these are only destined for that region. We'd be hard-pressed to tell potential buyers which one bundle is the better but, but we will say that only one of them goes where no one has gone before. And the other one is Transformers.

Alex @ Oct 29th 2009 6:56AM
On a flash drive?
Really?
Azerael @ Oct 29th 2009 9:33AM
It's not like they could put it on a bluray.
EGOvoruhk @ Oct 29th 2009 12:59PM
Maybe not Blu-ray, but they could put it on a regular DVD. I'm sure it'll just be a 720p WMV file, and I'm sure it's under 8GB
Maverick Saturn (Igor) @ Oct 29th 2009 6:56AM
And give me one good reason why I would want to have a Bruno themed Xbox....

This is my first ever first time shouting first on anything. I really did lol when posting it.
-Vexx- @ Oct 29th 2009 7:21AM
Oh joy a shitty mediocre movie and a barely decent game.
And a system that's a ticking time bomb.
DeepFriedSushi @ Oct 29th 2009 9:15AM
way to proliferate false propaganda, new consoles have the new revised chipset which are significantly more reliable.
ZaxCG2 @ Oct 29th 2009 9:20AM
YOUR GRANDFATHER LOVES YOU VERY MUCH TO BUY YOU THAT.
Now make sure you write a thank you card when we get home, son.
Van Faulk @ Oct 29th 2009 7:32AM
So one bundle gets you a terrible game and a fairly bad movie, and the other gives you a mediocre movie and a surprisingly good game.
Choices choices.
Why not have a bundle with district 9 and Halo:ODST? At least then both items would actually be good.
phobic99 @ Oct 29th 2009 7:44AM
That's actually a good idea but the District 9 Blu-Ray disc is going to be bundled with the God of War 3 demo. Kind of an odd mix I'd say.
Van Faulk @ Oct 29th 2009 7:49AM
I don't think that really affects the 360. And yeah, that is an odd combo. Stupid too, since now I have no reason to buy the GOW collection.
Aurailious @ Oct 29th 2009 8:17AM
I promise I won't do this again. I just wanted to do this once.
KSPRAYDAD ... no longer playing games @ Oct 29th 2009 8:02AM
Why the hell wouldn't you just pack it with a DL code for the movie?
Mogster @ Oct 29th 2009 8:47AM
I was under the impression that Star Trek was meant to be a good movie...
Mogster @ Oct 29th 2009 9:07AM
Reply fail lol...
GewurztraminerX @ Oct 29th 2009 8:12AM
Soo glad I picked up a $400 Elite in January without either of these movies.
Seriously.
Aurailious @ Oct 29th 2009 7:32PM
Sorry for quadruple posting, but I wanted to apologize for triple and double posting. As well as another apology for saying First.
Torque_AOD @ Oct 29th 2009 8:25AM
I thought microsoft loves money.
t_m @ Oct 29th 2009 8:29AM
They should just bundle transformers with the standard model... then everyone would have to pay more for the elite to avoid it.
CloudStrife @ Oct 29th 2009 8:52AM
I actually quite enjoyed the new Star Trek movie...
...Transformers sucked ass though
jivebuny @ Oct 29th 2009 9:22AM
if your buyin a console for watching movies personally id choose to get a ps3.
and if i were to go for the xbox neither film would tempt me.
ZaxCG2 @ Oct 29th 2009 9:22AM
Have they ever used USB drives like this before? Sounds awkward and crappy. Why can't there be a disc?
patrickhuynguyen @ Oct 29th 2009 3:38PM
sounds like a great idea! people like to collect things. i'm sure you could copy the movie over to the hard drive.
I have the same concept with my Splinter Cell flash drive. It was a 8GB drive with DRM-free Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and it cost $16. you can either install from the flash drive or copy the game to the hard drive and then install from the hard drive. and then you can format the thumbdrive and voila, you have a nice flash drive and a nice game. back then, 8GB flash drives were expensive so it was a bargain to get it with a game too.
Jayvan @ Oct 29th 2009 9:34AM
in the future is gonna be gonna be just buy the consoles because they play moivies and blu-ray...who would pay the same amount when they can get a console and play games. and in the future consoles will be so cheap...expensive blu-ray players would die...only the cheap ones would survive is like:if you cant afford a $2oo console or $3oo premium console and there is no $1oo console guess just buy the stand alone blu-ray player...idk if I made my point but that's how I see the future (1o years from no), where consoles gonna do everything. It wont be own a dvd or blu-ray player and what brand it would be own a console and what HDD size...or SSD in the future...and also I thing DD would be the future so...yup consoles are gonna domininate the media market...
vidGuy @ Oct 29th 2009 9:55AM
In the future, I’m going to just buy the consoles because they [also] play movies and BluRay. Who would pay the same amount [for a stand-alone player] when they can get a console and play games? In the future, consoles will be so cheap. Expensive BluRay players w[ill] die and only the cheap ones w[ill] survive. If you can’t afford a $200 console or $300 premium console, and there is no $100 console, I guess you could just buy the stand-alone BluRay player. I don’t know if I made my point, but that's how I see the future 10 years from now, whe[n] consoles are going to do everything. You won’t own a DVD or BluRay player, you will own a console and what [will matter is the] HDD size or SSD. I think digital distribution w[ill] be the future. Consoles are going to dominate the media market.
There. Now I might be able to understand what you said.
Darth Bradwart, Dark Lord of the Sith @ Oct 29th 2009 10:33AM
Well, if those 'expensive' players support things the consoles don't, I'm going to buy them.
Unless someone releases a console that has Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, Beta, VHS, 8-Track, and Cassette support...
Vincent060 @ Oct 29th 2009 12:49PM
And in the future men will wear long leather coats and there will be junior colleges.
Asmerom (PSN: neon6plz) @ Oct 29th 2009 10:58AM
What is it that motivates a person to post first?
This I will never understand.
Samuel Vimes @ Oct 29th 2009 11:31AM
The flash drive is kind of a neat idea but isn't very practical for the masses. Download code or disc copy would be the better route in my opinion. Kudos for effort though.
Captain Planet [Planeteer | Power of Captain Planet] @ Oct 29th 2009 12:25PM
Hey Aurailious, the Internet called and wants you to fucking shut up.
Vcize @ Oct 29th 2009 1:51PM
I'm not a snob and I liked Star Trek AND Transformers.
So there.
ChuckBartowski @ Oct 29th 2009 6:18PM
ummmm, isnt that like... encouraging movie piracy?
