PSN Thursday: Take Ratchet, Fat Princess, LocoRoco, Jak and Daxter for a test drive

There are plenty of nice demos to try out with this week's PSN Update. For PS3 owners, the second Ratchet and Clank demo is available, with players taking control of the lombax with a weapon fetish. Also, there's the demo for the big girl inside of us all, as Fat Princess stuffs herself into a smaller size offering. Meanwhile, on PSP, the happiest blobs in this LocoRoco: Midnight Carnival world, along with the very angry Jak and Daxter, offer up demos. Check out the full PSN update after the break.

Sometimes Microsoft pays for the demo to be either a permanent or timed exclusive, but a lot of times it's late, yes. I've been holding off on FP until I could play it, so I'm glad for the demo.

It's mandated on XBLA where as Sony leaves it up to the developers on the PSN. Some games never get demos.

Can we please get the major titles so that every week we dont read the same comments over and over again.

pretty good update IMO. i have to download the ratchet, locoroco, jak & daxter, and crystal defenders demos. maybe the bad company vids too.

Downloaded Loco Roco Midnight Carnival (188 MB 3 MIN if anyone is counting) and thats about it this week other than some demos.

When the hell are we going to see some premium avatars as well as more premium themes

I think the avatars have a 2010 date on them, but the premium themes have been lacking. Granted, I'm pleased with my LBP one and don't see the need for another one (unless it's Uncharted, and then only maybe) but it'd be nice if they released more.

Yes those little avatars have been there since launch! Well except for a few that they added, but that was like 2 yrs ago. As mentioned above they're for 2010, but c'mon!

The delay is because they're supposedly changing the mechanisms surrounding the avatars, rather than just adding jpegs. Not that that's a valid excuse.

Maybe it'll be really cool when it finally comes.

South Park dynamic theme?

I said the same thing but I'm really considering buying since I know it will be outrageous.

The preview makes it look quite lame though. Check it out on youtube first to see if it is worth the $3

go in remote play and try downloading a demo
take a close look at the downloading speed do you see any changes
when i go in remote play my download speed its twice as fast went up 1mps
i would like to know the cause of that

I'll gladly pay $250 for the PSP Go when someone cracks the the firmware so we can play our emulators, roms, and everything else that currently plays on our PSP-1000 fat.

Otherwise, I'm holding off until the price drops to $170...even then that's alot of money for technology that is 5 years old already (and that is ancient times in terms of technology)...

yea for fat princess demo! been waiting on that. want to try it before I buy. ratchet demo as well for sure, though i know i will buy that at some point regardless.

why no trine demo for the US? also want to try that (on the ps3) before i buy it. one of these days i really need to get around to making a UK/euro PSN account, but i'm lazy! or, you know, busy.

A demo for Fat Princess! Finally!

wasn't re2 ESRB rated over a year ago for psn? i'm really let down (not suprised though) that there was no re2, possibly the greatest horror game of all time, on psn for this halloween.

there's 2 re games on the ipod, and one of them is re4. what's the holdup cpcom / sony?

i'm not creaming my pants with your psn offerings, i don't feel 'happy' - did you lie to me capcom? huh?

I played the Jak and Daxter demo
It's really good, I dont know what Joystiq is talking about this is a fine game.
