Borderlands console patches go live, Lilith gets some loving
We felt so bad for Borderlands' stealthy female protagonist, Lilith. While other characters' abilities were in perfect working order, her top-tier "Phase Strike" power was, well, broken. Enemies who experienced the attack began to make fun of Lilith, referring to the maligned ability as "Phase Wrist-Slap" or "Phase Hug," for which her cohorts constantly teased her.
Fret no more, dearest Lilith! Gearbox released a patch earlier today for the PS3 and 360 versions of Borderlands which, in addition to improving load times and fixing a number of small technical snafus (the full list of which are after the jump), also fixes your Phase Strike ability. Just make sure you savor the experience when you first use the renovated power -- the surprise on your combatant's face is going to be delectable.

Mmm... Lilith.
Samuel Vimes @ Oct 30th 2009 11:53AM
What about glitched achievements!?
Adam M ONeill @ Oct 30th 2009 11:56PM
There were glitched achievements? Source?
pekosROB @ Oct 31st 2009 12:21PM
yeah i was wondering about that too. the corrosive kills is definitey glitched. i read some other users with that problem and i have it myself. if you look at your in-game progress it shows that i have way more than 25 kills with corrosive weapons but i never got the achievement.
cubeenigma @ Nov 2nd 2009 4:52PM
they just say to play a new game with a new character
i did that and got the car one as well as the shock one
i think that you can only get 2 element kill weapon achivements per game if you play co op since thats what happened to me and my gf.
also. for the 5,000,000 achiveemnt, the first player in a co op game gets the money but the second doesnt get the achievement since they arent awarded the money
antilight @ Oct 30th 2009 11:55AM
Thank god. I play as Lillith and had given up on her Phase ability. Level 33 and killed maybe... 8 enemies. Usually was a waste of time.
bmCLOUD @ Oct 30th 2009 1:18PM
Hmmm, I picked Mordecai and to be honest I am really regretting it... His skill trees just don't seem to match up. D: But, if anyone wants to have a game, my PSN: firebird14
Samuel Vimes @ Oct 30th 2009 1:20PM
He is one of the stronger guys. Whichever way you spec his damage output is insane. Be it melee, sniper, pistols, or his bloodwing. Just his down side is lack of defense, but his health regen makes up for that.
jynxycat @ Oct 30th 2009 1:45PM
Phasewalk works fine. Phasestrike is what was not working.
If you had Blackout and Hard to Get, you could use Phasewalk after killing 3 enemies. It just keeps refreshing, and if you have a good talent artifact equipped, it does quite a bit of damage + daze. Good stuff.
aristokrat @ Oct 30th 2009 11:57AM
Nice. Now phasewalk will be more than just a turbo run button for me!
Samuel Vimes @ Oct 30th 2009 12:02PM
What was wrong with it in the first place? I haven't played Lilith yet but my brother has been and is wondering what the difference is now.
Roncore @ Oct 30th 2009 12:10PM
haha, great avatar! "Stupid sexy snake!"
Zeke The Geek @ Oct 30th 2009 1:45PM
Haha yeah, the phasewalk was pretty much a tool to get to a destination quicker or to get out of sticky situations. I am so glad I can finally put some points into phasestrike now. I actually stand a chance in duels against my buddies.
Kira @ Oct 31st 2009 6:52AM
I thought I was supposed to use that for something else...
J @ Oct 30th 2009 12:04PM
My friends all seem to be levelling up a bunch of different characters, which seems smart for multiplayer, but I'm just going through as a Hunter... I just got that Sniper-Shotgun weapon... It's like a dream come true.
Taiko Drum Grandmaster @ Oct 30th 2009 12:06PM
PC PATCH. Make it happen.
Dracard @ Oct 30th 2009 12:13PM
A patch is out for the 360 and PS3 but not the PC? What the fuck.
Someone (Gearbox or 2K) has got to be doing something on purpose.
Samuel Vimes @ Oct 30th 2009 12:17PM
Maybe give it a week. Since it was postponed a week after Xbox and PS3 release, maybe it's just taking a little more time for them to push the PC patch. Good luck guys! Hope you get patched soon too!
yaja @ Oct 30th 2009 12:43PM
I'm hoping the delay on the patch for PC means they're also working on fixing some of the annoying console-to-PC port issues that exist.
zero mic controls (have to disable it by editing the game files), run is toggle, crouch is toggle, "use" function forces weapon reload, screwy FOV on widescreen monitors, etc. That said, still LOVING this game.
Slust @ Oct 30th 2009 1:12PM
The code for each version is not the same, even if similar. In addition, every change needs testing to make sure it 1) works and 2) didn't break anything else. Considering some fundamental scripts were probably altered, give it a bit more time.
The PC version will get its fixes probably within 2-3 business days at max. I'd be really surprised at the PC team if it took longer.
tmacairjordan87 @ Oct 30th 2009 12:07PM
Meh all I play as is the solider most of the time anyway. His turret is ridiculously overpowered if specced right, and the boosts to combat rifles really help too.
Brick's fun to play as though, if only because his action skill is awesome.
Samuel Vimes @ Oct 30th 2009 12:10PM
Playthrough 2 and still dying of laughter when using berserk.
devilsei @ Oct 30th 2009 12:14PM
Aaaaaagh!! Ggggaa! Rrrrrrggh! Raaaaaa!!! AAaaah!! AAAAAH!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!
Samuel Vimes @ Oct 30th 2009 12:35PM
Mooooooreeeee!!!!!
Hiddnfox @ Oct 30th 2009 12:09PM
PC TIEM NAO!
Frostfell @ Oct 30th 2009 12:10PM
Did anyone else experience an issue with the audio cutting out at times on the PS3 version? Mine always does it whenever those pterodactyls show up.
Zack @ Oct 30th 2009 2:52PM
I get this and it drives me batty!
Frostfell @ Oct 30th 2009 3:42PM
Hmm. I have yet to encounter bat related latency issues, mine are strictly limited to late Triassic-era winged reptiles.
Obie @ Oct 30th 2009 12:15PM
Whoa, nice to see a console get a patch so quickly, usually it takes forever to get stuff past MS certification.
TwistedBishop @ Oct 31st 2009 11:53AM
I think it all depends on how the patch is implemented. Dawn of War 2 had an emergency patch early on that bypassed certification since it didn't affect the Games for Windows Live architecture or somesuch.
civic95er @ Oct 30th 2009 12:15PM
hmmmm no achievement fix for 360, i would think that would be near the top.
Samuel Vimes @ Oct 30th 2009 12:19PM
Yeah, that would be nice.
Elette @ Oct 30th 2009 12:26PM
Which achievement is glitched?
Samuel Vimes @ Oct 30th 2009 12:31PM
Many of them. Millionaire, 12 days of pandora, elemental weapon kills, and a few more. Sometimes they glitch sometimes they don't.
civic95er @ Oct 30th 2009 12:34PM
the one where you drive over 25 enemies is glitched for me and a friend
Anthony M. @ Oct 30th 2009 12:43PM
Right now their top priority is disappearing skills / items.
Achievements can be done on another char just fine.
You cant boot up another character and rescue your level 50's talent points.
Samuel Vimes @ Oct 30th 2009 12:51PM
I think I should get these achievements if they are done on the first playthrough. Not start up another character simply to collect another million dollars. Seems like they covered pretty well most of the bugs except an also important one. I'm not achievement monger but that doesn't mean I won't accept it if I have done the work for it.
Elette @ Oct 30th 2009 2:49PM
Driving over 25 enemies wasn't glitched for me. I think it's cause most people are playing this game coop and i've been playing it solo.
Ryguy226 @ Nov 1st 2009 12:37AM
Mine is the sell 50 guns cheevo. According to the challenges, I have sold over 300 items, and I know 50 of them had to be guns. It's not that bad, I'm going through a second character, so I'll get it pretty quick. My friend on the other hand, he just discovered he had the Millionaire glitch, he's not happy.
J @ Oct 30th 2009 12:23PM
as in the delay for some of the achievements to pop up on the screen?
Samuel Vimes @ Oct 30th 2009 12:29PM
Them not appearing at all. And some are big ones like the millionaire achievement. Takes a long time to get a million on a fresh run through.
Eddy @ Oct 30th 2009 12:36PM
Now to fix the game-ending bugs like skill points deleting and friends lists not working. You know, the ones that people really care about.
Slust @ Oct 30th 2009 1:18PM
While people are working on those, other people fixed these.
There is little reason to hold up a bunch of little fixes (especially ones effecting class balance) for the big ones when the big ones aren't done yet.
Back your save files up in the meantime. I was the victim of a multiplayer character loss bug, but I had my SaveData folder backed up, so I replaced it and was restored to where I was before the loss happened.
Players do have some workarounds in the meantime.
Minions @ Oct 30th 2009 12:36PM
So, recently I came upon an interesting glitch. In co-op offline, it appears through a series of making a game, leaving a game (which leaves a character in the spot), changing games to have the second character make the game (as the main person) then leaving the game and having the second person (which was originally the first person), select the same character allows you to log in on the same save twice. Something like that anyway, have not tried to reproduce it as I did it on accident. I did however notice, that if one of you drops gear, the other picks it up and you quit the game, the items are indeed duped.... so yeah don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but this game is buggy as hell.
zlickrick @ Oct 30th 2009 12:54PM
I seriously love this game - its my GOTY so far, although im sure Im not the majority.
Samuel Vimes @ Oct 30th 2009 12:56PM
Ditto.
Space @ Oct 30th 2009 2:05PM
yeah I'm lovin it so far only at level 8 but it's already pulled me away from uncharted.
PedoJokerBear [Planeteer | Power of Gall Bladder] @ Oct 30th 2009 7:50PM
ive never played a game as addicting on the console, im already on level 31 in just a week.
Ryan @ Oct 30th 2009 1:02PM
"Weapon mapping to the D-pad should no longer reverse left and right"
Huh, I guess Im not going crazy.
P.S. I love this game. My wife loves this game. We love the Coop of this game.
Kodros @ Oct 30th 2009 1:37PM
It blows my mind how some bugs like this ever got released.
