Joystiq Podcast 115 - Terrifically spookier edition
Video games are also (briefly) mentioned, but -- whenever possible -- only in the context of our other three topics. It's a great episode. We're also giving away a copy of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 and a secret bonus game. Thanks to our horrifyingly talented photoshopper Alan Black.

Man, you guys need to find someone who actually knows how to use photoshop!
blakbuzzrd @ Oct 30th 2009 4:57PM
I like the way they look. You can always volunteer to do better, of course.
WiredKnight: Keeper of Threads @ Oct 30th 2009 5:24PM
Oh no, they're hilarious in that b-movie horror sort of way. My comment was mostly sarcastic.
Matt @ Oct 30th 2009 4:27PM

ludwig, i agree with happy cola being great, but i prefer it's sassier cousin fizzy cola
Anthony M. @ Oct 30th 2009 6:01PM
The patch you guys mention for borderlands does NOT fix the issue you mentioned. (Losing skills / corrupt character saves)
Just an FYI to people out there.
I still love the game and haven't been affected by any of the problems, and it's on the top of their list to fix.
player66 @ Oct 30th 2009 6:44PM
That's the most frightening Photoshop I've ever seen. Thanks Facebook group...for haunting my nightmares.
NukeAssault @ Oct 30th 2009 6:56PM
No way! Me an Justin have the same birthday! (why do i feel ive said that before)
I usually get all the stuff i want by the time holdays or my birthday come around too. Kinda makes for a boring holiday when people don't know what to get you when you have everything. Ive always got room for books though.
shimshim84 @ Oct 30th 2009 7:09PM

I've been listening for awhile now but I wondered today why Ludwig lives in Africa. It sounds like a scary place to be and wondered why he chooses to live there.
Michael T [Planeteer | Power of Mr. T] @ Oct 30th 2009 7:51PM
Nice use of DSG there, guys.

What's the xbox 360 blog thing you fellas were talking about? Sounds interesting...
I don't really follow your reasoning at all for not 'getting' people who don't like spoilers? It was a bit ridiculous. You say part of it is that the experience is the 'journey' getting there, so it shouldnt matter? That'd entail finding things out as the story unfolds, as the characters find them out. Part of the journey in getting there is following along with the appropriate timeline for the narrative. Spoilers suck because they interfere with that.
Dreaded Fear @ Oct 31st 2009 7:14PM
The thing is there is no journey for that scene. It is right at the beginning of the game! There could be many ways that scene could have been portrayed in a first person perspective. It is quite arrogant of Ludwig to say that it is not a spoiler. Most of the people who commented said it was spoiler, therefore it is. Just because you think it isn't a spoiler doesn't mean anything to most of us who do think that it is a spoiler.
The whole reason you put the spoiler was to make some sort of satirical title, which would guarantee hits, and you were trying to be funny. Instead, it failed miserably. All you had to do was put was spoiler warning in the title.
CH3BURASHKA @ Oct 31st 2009 6:30PM
@Chris:
I read 'The Historian' about 3 years ago and I remember it being a page-turner, as you yourself stated. Since you're liking it, I recommend you pick up "The Eight" by Katherine Neville. It is a detective novel, like "The Historian", only instead of vampires, you have a chess board...
FROM HELL! Not really, though. It's much better than that. If you get it, say it on the podcast so I know I have some influence over the celebrity world.
PS When is DSG going to get her own line of "Where's DSG?" books?
JimWood27 @ Oct 31st 2009 9:18PM
seriously, you are complaining about a LARGER screen for the DS? as someone with large hands (all the other DS models are a bit small and i hate the DualShock because its too small in my hands) i welcome a larger handheld
Quattro @ Nov 1st 2009 1:51AM
That's pretty weird that they don't trick or treat on Halloween there.
Rhamsey @ Nov 3rd 2009 1:44PM
Busy weekend so just finished the podcast, and these twitter giveaways are upsetting. I wish I could have a signed backyard football game 10 from Justin, but I refuse to do that twitter/facebook thing.
O well, good episode but I missed the Visceral section.
Jeff @ Nov 3rd 2009 9:13PM
Yes! They played my swine flu voicemail!
shadow763 @ Nov 4th 2009 2:21AM
I don't get how the Joystiq guys have such a rough time on PSN. I always have lots of friends on their playing games online, I never have voice quality issues or problems with any of my games online. I just think its a matter of who they have as online friends. I don't think its all Sony's fault. All of my friends have mics so I can talk with all of them all the time. I just don't have the same problems.

Is Woodwork Time Fun for the DS or the Wii?
The Dark Wayne [Planeteer: Power of the Batusi] @ Nov 4th 2009 2:31PM
The lack of a VISCERAL section made me feel like someone had slammed my skull against a pane of glass
