Uh, who cares? It's going to be AC1 with some improvements, so you should already know what the core game is going to play like. I'll be getting it day 1 along with the god of war collection (busy week!).

i dont understand why companies dont release demos for some games. why not just release the demos they have a press events or conventions? Sometimes its the same demo over and over so they are constantly polishing the same demo, so why not just release that one?

I've never understood demos for games that are sequals. Unless the game dynamics and controls are drastically different, why comprise a demo? Demos in my mind are for player to see if the game is good for them to play and if they like the controls and such. No need for a demo if u like the game and are adapted to the control scheme.

the first one sold 8 million copies.

they've got absolutely nothing to prove by diverting resources (that could be spent polishing the final product) on a demo.

would one have been nice? yea, of course but don't waste your time crying about its absence because ubisoft certainly isn't.

Come on, really? Waiting for November 17 is hard enough, especially when it's one of your most anticipated games of the year.

I don't need a demo to know if I want a game. 95% of games I buy have no demo.

Why are you guys up in arms over demos for sequels? Want a demo for ODST? Play Halo 3. Want a demo for Uncharted 2? Play Uncharted 1. Want a demo for Modern Warfare 2? Play Modern Warfare 1.

The demo is for players to test out the gameplay styles and get them pumped up to buy the game. Odds are, if you liked the original game, you're going to like this one. So, why bother putting time and manpower (money) into a demo from which there can be no effect?

For instance, look at Arkham Asylum. The reason it did well was because they released a demo showcasing the different gameplay schemes. When they come around for Arkham 2 (or whatever they decide on), they know they don't need to release a demo because most individuals interested in their product have already tried their gameplay (and enjoyed it).

How do you expect them to cut a portion out of the seemingly cinematic campaign of Assassin's Creed II and show it off as a demo? An assassination? The beginning few missions?

It's a lot harder than it appears.

Give the devs a bit of slack and have some goddamn patience. I am going to enjoy this game, and I am willing to wait a couple weeks before I am able to try it.

Agreed - the reason people buy sequels is because they want a new experience that's similar to the first. Did you expect Uncharted 2 to be a kart racer? Did you expect Halo 3 to be a music rhythm game?

No demo? That doesn't necessarily mean it's going to suck, but to me it shows a lack of confidence in the developers. I could be dead wrong about it, though.

I still am buying it, I liked the first and I also liked Far Cry 2 so repetitiveness is not a problem for me as long as the core gameplay is fun and the story is good enough to play through.

Also on a somewhat related note, does the PSP Assassin's Creed have a release date yet?

I remember reading somewhere that it was on the same day (November 17)... I could be wrong though.

You people realize they're saying no "pre-launch" demo, and not "no demo ever, period", right? This just means you'll probably have to wait until the game is out to play a demo, whoop-dee-doo. The amount of whinging because people can't bother to read more than the article's title is hilarious.

No demo for a game that seemingly remains unchanged from it's prequel, at the core anyway. If you enjoyed the first, you'll probably enjoy the second (although it's no guarantee).

But, I have to say, I don't think a free demo should rightfully be compared to a predecessor, since, for one, the demo is free. If I'm new to the series, why would I pay for a demo? Unless I can borrow it, it's a bit of a counter productive idea. Now, if, by chance, I enjoy it anyway, no problem. If I end up hating it, well, I lost money (unless I can my money back).

Oh, demos.

I just realized I had nothing to follow up the "For one..." point.

I suck at commenting.

I didn't like the repetitiveness of AC1 - even though I played it all the way through, and I believe AC2 is a lot more varied.

On that note, I would prefer to perhaps play a demo, to see the differences in attitude towards each 'target', before actually spending £40 on something.

A demo would have been nice, I guess I shall just have to go on reviews from my peers to see if it is actually much different from AC1's too linear killings.

I can explain why there is not going to be a demo.
Ubisoft doesnt want people to know that this game is as shitty as the last one till they pay for it.

Your optimism is noted.

I, on the other hand, am going to love this game. I enjoyed AC1, and I am just getting more and more excited when I hear about the new features in this game (Desmond, Money system, villa, etc).
